Just back POR

mansions or bayou? check in process? pool report? quiet and /or ol man island? towels by the pool? mousekeeping?

hhmm, yeah, just everything:rotfl: and any pictures would be fabulous!!!

We stayed in the Bayou as we had a room with a trundle bed. It was a nice room with a good location. The quiet pool was great as usual, but did have other people in it at pretty much any time day or night. Old Man Island pool had people in it, but I never would have called it crowded. Sorry, but I don't know about towels by the pool. Mousekeeping was very good but not spectacular. We did get towel animals and a personal note from our mousekeeper. The second day there was hairspray on the mirror that was never cleaned off. No major complaints though.

Check in looked very intimidating, but went much faster than I expected. There were 10 parties in line in front of me, yet I waited less than 10 minutes. Very smooth with plenty of CM staffing the windows.

We only ate two meals at the food court. The build your own pasta station was EXCELLENT and reasonably priced. Didn't have any long waits at any time.

What else can I answer for you???

We happened to be at POR this month during Pirate and Princess at MK. That event did impact buses, all of them. If you're going during the PP celebrations, plan accordingly.

Otherwise, buses were fine. Plenty of folks waiting, but the buses come frequently. We never waited for any bus longer than 20 min. People seemed happy.

We were in Alligator Bayou. Two adults, and we got a couple of towel fish! Was very unexpected, sweet. Mousekeeping was terrific. Checkout-easy, they took luggage to main building, checked into Delta, got our boarding passes-couldn't believe how easy it was.

I loved POR. It was our first stay, and we'll plan to stay there again.

:woohoo: Hey everybody,I am back!!!Sorry for the delay!We were at POR Aug.6-11th.2 adults,2 12 year olds.Where do I start??Here goes!!
I will start at the beginning:
1.Check-in/Went smoothly, but very crowded! We got there at 2:30p.m. and finished checking in about 3:15.
2.We were in Oak Manor,#9080,the mansions. At check-in we were asked where we wanted to be.We have stayed at AB before. This is a short walk from the lobby.Out the door to the left over the bridge and left again! We overlooked one of the quiet pools, and I mean quiet.Never crowded!
3.The room was very clean and housekeeping was great! We recieved 2 towel animals(thought we'd get more as we really decorated our window)oh well..I think they are very busy!!
4.Transportation was good.50-50 on the sitting and standing. We did share a bus with pofq most of the time.
5.The food court was o.k.I always bring a suitcase with food(cereal, poptarts, cookies, crackers, coffee and whatever else I can fit in).We get our driver to stop at the grocery store, where we get, milk, juice, cheese and wine!I also bring styrofoam bowls and spoons. We always eat breakfast in our room.We did decide our last day to eat at food court and was real glad we didn't do it every day!$40.00 for 4 people.2 coffees,1 cereal,2 milks and 2 breakfast platters. The coffee tasted like mud and the breakfast at Mcdonalds has more taste! We did get lunch 2 days in a row, which consisted of 2 kids chicken meals,1 sandwich and soup for me(yes I can eat soup any day of the year, even when it is 115 degrees out)the soup was good!!Had salads 2 nights in a row..very good as they make it the way you want it!!
6.Pools-went to the main pool everyday!Pool was great!A little crowded, but we played volleyball everyday!
7.Parks-CROWDED CROWDED CROWDED!!!
8.Weather-HOT HOT HOT!!!

After getting half sick 2 days in a row we would wait til after dinner to go to the parks...unfortunatly we never had any storm or rain to cool things off,so it was about 90 degrees even then!!
9.Food at parks-Ate at 50s prime time cafe!it was good, just seems to be loosing its appeal. Also ate at Planet Hollywood twice.

Just a side note,we usually vacation the last week of aug.since my daughter starts school after labor day, just decided to go earlier this year.Never again!!The parks were so crowded it was elbow to elbow!!I have been going to Disney since 1972 and I really feel that some of the magic is slowly disapearing.Why...I don't know. Some of it is the cast members.Either they love their job or they don't...and it really affects their attitude.Just my opinion!

Forgot to mention luggage! We had to wait 2 1/2 hours to get it!!We flew in and the bell hop took our luggage while we checked in.Got to our room and called for it and were told we had to be in the room.We kept calling and getting this response...5 more minutes,it's on it's way,5 more minutes(over and over).Next time we will wear our suits under our clothes. We had to sit and wait with the pool outside our door and no luggage with our suits!!Just thought that I would give you a heads up!!:thumbsup2

Did I cover everything??Any more questions...I will be more prompt!!:goodvibes

I was there the 9-13th. AK was the only park that we found overwhelmingly crowded. The heat was UNREAL. I'm a good Southern girl and I can usually take it, but it was just overwhelming.
