We just got back from a wonderful week at WDW.

The first 3 nights we stayed at Pop Century. While we found the outside of the resort gaudy, the guestrooms themselves were nice. Our kids loved running through the fountains (similar to the fountains at EPCOT). The food court was nice, similar to the All Stars. That being said, Pop Century was certainly adequate for our needs (we were there only to sleep), but I don't know if I'd stay there again. It just wasn't our cup of tea. DH also said he will never again split up a stay between two resorts. All in all, at $55 per night I found this to be one of the biggest values at WDW.

We moved to the Dolphin for our last 4 nights--got a great rate of $109 a night through hotwire. I wish we'd have stayed the entire trip here!

When we checked in we showed our SPG card (even though it's not supposed to offer any perks when reservations are made through a third party) and asked for a renovated room. The CM looked through her computer and apologetically said they were very full and did not have a renovated room available. Then she said, how about a nice view, and does height bother you? We said height was not an issue, but I was grumbling as we walked to our room (I really wanted a renovated room!). I told DH it had better be some view.

It was!

We were on the 16th floor--we could see Epcot and the Boardwalk on the left and MGM from the right (especially the Tower of Terror). At night we could see the Illuminations and Fantasmic without a problem. Boy was I glad she didn't have any renovated rooms.

Service was great at the Dolphin, and to us it felt just as "Disney" as any of the other resort we've stayed at, and the oatmeal soap is to die for! I'd stay at the Dolphin again in a heartbeat, although I know I'll never get that great of a price again!

Any questions?

One problem with the Dolphin--what is up with transportation to MK? The bus going to MK stopped at the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Beach Club and Boardwalk. What's up with that? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way to get to MK from the Dolphin is via bus. Was I missing something?

You didn't miss anything, the only way to get to the MK is via the bus, and it shares a bus with the resorts you listed.

Depeding on the time of year, very often it will skip one or more of those resorts, just depends.

Or....you could boat or walk over to Epcot, walk to the front entrance and monorail over to MK.
