Just back yesterday from 2 weeks at The World (landed yesterday morning but slept for 17 hours after I got home!) and overall had another wonderful trip.
We did a split stay with 1 week at Pop and 1 week at Kidani at AKL. Pop was fine for the first week, no real complaints except that the bus service was quite bad 1 night after MK EMH but thats a minor complaint. Then we moved to Kidani Village, WOW. Absolutely loved it. Booked a standard view room renting DVC points and I will always do this for future trips from now on. The resort is stunning and it's hard to imagine being satisfied with a Value resort after staying here again.
Had some delicious meals:
Boma, amazing! My new favourite place to eat at WDW, tried pretty much everything and it was all great. Will eat here every time from now on probably!
Rose & Crown, loved it here too, had the Bangers and mash which I thought was excellent and our server was lovely. All the cast members here seemed rushed off their feet and there were tables left untidy for ages after people left, it seemed very understaffed unfortunately.
Grand Floridian Cafe, we hadn't planned on eating here but grabbed a last minute reservation on the Sunday evening just gone and it was really good. I had the Pork which was amazing and I'd recommend this place to anyone, especially when you can grab the monorail over to or from MK for dinner.
Portobello, the only place I didn't like. Never had a 'bad' meal at WDW, or DLP, or anywhere else in Orlando, but it was pretty bad here to be honest. I had the Ravioli which tasted like a dried out microwave lasagne. Very disappointing here and i wouldn't make a reservation again.
Weather was pretty good for the whole 2 weeks, only really 'cold' on one night early on if I remember correctly, shorts and t-shirt every other day and night. Never properly rained, and it was practically summer heat on a few of the days
. Crowds were moderate for the first week, then dipped pretty low for the second, and started to become huge the last 2/3 days, as predicted.
Did a few firsts this trip too, Typhoon lagoon, which we loved and went to for a second visit; and Disney Quest, which I thought was a very strange place
I understand the concept and what they wanted to achieve when they were developing this idea and constructed it, but it completely fails imo. It's just not Disney at all, even the Cast Members look like they don't want to be in there. There's nothing of any worth except the Virtual Space Mountain, which was pretty fun.
I don't think I'll be back in Florida now until after the new Fantasyland is completed (which is so badly needed) which is a bitter sweet thought as it will be exciting to see but I know it's a few years down the line
. Got very emotional during Wishes on the last night, Wishes makes me tear up at the best of times but knowing this is most likely the last trip for quite a while too.
Another amazing trip and I can't wait for the next one somewhere down the line. Woke up this morning and was wishing I was waking up at AKL again so badly
. California and Tokyo are yet to be explored before Florida again though. No ticker as of yet
PS. I'll try upload a few pics later!
