Just Back- My Magic Plus Issues/Praise

This can be moved to the trip report boards eventually, but I thought I would post to help other people out with future problems.

I must admit, we had a LOT of issues. It was one of my least magical trips ever. I had a lot of fun but we had our problems. A lot of them were transportation issues but I won't post them here because they don't relate to My Magic +.

Positive Experiences

Park Entrance: It worked flawlessly and it was great not to have to carry the tickets around along with your room keys, photopass card, etc.
Payment: It worked pretty well. We had a few mishaps and just used our room key instead which worked. Paying at a restaurant took a bit longer because they have to come to your table with the device to scan and then go check you out.
Fastpass +: We had one incident where my EE fastpass did not work. They had to take me aside and record my band number and the problem. Then they had to take me back to let them let me in. It took an extra 10 minutes which was a problem because we were in a hurry. Otherwise, no issues. I loved not having to carry the paper fastpass around.
PhotoPass: I believe all of my pictures are online. It is nice not having to have a separate photopass site now to enter in the cards. They just show up online. Also nice having the photog scan your band instead of carrying around the cards.

Negative Experiences

Split Stays: We had a triple stay. At the two other resorts magic bands would not work to let us into the room. It still showed us as checked in at the other resorts. This was a huge pain because they told us they would work but they didn't and we had to come back to the check in desk after a long day at the parks. It never got fixed at the boardwalk. We had to use a room key. At the Yacht Club it showed us still checked in at the boardwalk and we couldn't check in yet. Magic bands were spotty. Also we had 6 sets of magic bands sent. I canceled two resorts but the bands were still sent. Then I had 4 separate reservations (2 reservations for 2 nights at AOA, 1 night at Boardwalk, 2 at Yacht). We got separate bands for all the separate reservations. They need to start recognizing split stays in their system. If you have a split stay make sure you physically check out at your resort and ask for a room key too.
Limiting to 1 park per day Fastpass +: I hated only being able to choose one park per day. We also wanted more than 3 fastpasses. Thankfully we were able to use paper tickets also with my ap, but when we can't I will be annoyed. I also did not like having to plan my rides in advance. That takes it to the extreme in a bad way for me.
BOG fastpass plus: We pre ordered and they couldn't get it to show up in the system so instead of paying and just sitting we still had to wait in line and re order.
Fastpass +: The phone app worked pretty well. A few times I had to force close the app because it would freeze. We were able to change fastpasses on that. We had to change a fastpass when my boyfriend didn't feel well but the system didn't let us choose a new time because the ride was down. I guess they are supposed to honor any fastpasses for ride breakdowns at any time but I still wish you could choose a new time.
Rooming with friends who already had bands: I roomed with my friends who already had bands and since the reservation was in my name they couldn't add their bands to my room. It is just so weird how touchy these bands are. We wanted to get their tickets onto the new room bands and it had to say her daughter was my daughter and now her fastpass is all messed up. Frustrating!


I am open to the bands, just because I loved using that for EVERYTHING! It was so efficient (if there were 0 problems)But they need to fix the kinks for me to really love it. Since the whole resort will run on this fastpass system what happens if the system is down or the server crashes?? There will be lots of unhappy people.
