Hi everyone!
I just returned from my first solo trip, having extended it one day due to Hurricane Jeanne.
I was originally scheduled at the Grand Floridian (AP discount) for two days and then BCV for three. I ended up with three nights at the Grand (weathering Jeanne out on Sunday) and then decided to use the freed points to add an extra day to the trip.
Check-in line at BCV was long, but went fairly quickly. A very nice man who had been part of the ride out crew assisted me with check-in and, although he must have been pretty tired of being at work, he was one of the nicest CMs I met on the trip. My room wasn't ready yet (it wasn't ready until right at 4:00) but he told me it was a good one.
BCV weathered the storm well--not much damage at all except for tree limbs. My room was in good shape- a knick or so of paint out here and there, but what resort doesn't have that, lol! I was in room 325 which was handicap accessible and right off the elevator which was very nice! I had a woods view with the WS buildings peaking over the trees and I could see IllumiNations at night. The bed sits a little low, being a room for those with disabilities, but the bathroom was huge! The chairs are very comfortable too, and the decor in general was very nice.
I made use of room service a couple of times which was a great perk. Stormalong Bay wasn't crowded at all, so I was able to enjoy it all three days of my stay! I also had the chance (due to my room not being ready) to curl up in the Drawing Room with my book and simply relax-BCV has some great places for this. The best part, though, was being able to run to Epcot for Fish and Chips and having only a short stroll over for my Mo'Rockin and Off Kilter shows.
I know that BCV has gotten quite a bit of criticism lately, and I'm not saying that those complaints aren't legitimate. I can only report my experience and my experience was wonderful! I will be back there again for 4 days in October in a 2-bedroom unit (after a 4 day stay at WL) and I just can't wait! For me, BCV proved to be another proud and deserving member of the DVC family.
