**Just Back: My BC and GF Concierge review**

It's a shame you had that kind of experience at the RPC - we've stayed there every year we've gone to the GF, and we've had a lot of positive experiences - they were more than helpful to help us plan our days, and we loved having them around for our honeymoon last year. We're going back to "our" suite in the RPC the first week of June, so I'll be able to give a better report then... One thing I do notice - the CMs there remember you if you go multiple times - we've been recognized by the Concierge staff and by the cleaning staff...stuff like, "you guys are here again? Welcome back!" That always brings a smile to my face- but I have noticed a lot of new people on the staff so maybe they don't know "standard operating procedure" .. :)

Your report of the BC, however , made me drool. I've only ever stayed at the GF or CBR - the Y&BC has always been on my list of "We NEED to stay there sometime soon" places. :) We're considering DVC, and hopefully that can be our home resort.
Thanks for taking the time to put together that report- it was a good read! :)

Hi KaterBell! Well, I'm glad to hear more positive experiences. :) As I've said, I LOVE the GF and I was really looking forward to the "ultimate" indulgence of the Main Building. Maybe I hit an "off" week. I tried to get a Honeymoon Room initially but they were completely sold out. It was available for two of the nights but my DH did want to switch again after moving from the BC. Did you get the octagon shaped one? That is truly my dream. I've seen pictures and it looks wonderful. Have a great trip and keep us posted when you get back.

:)

Misti, we were lucky enough to get an octagon shaped room - in the turret.. :) That was our special request, and they were kind enough to grant it - we were on the 3rd floor, right above Mickey Mouse Mercantile and overlooking the new pool and the monorail. I wish we could have had the other side, where you can see MK and the fireworks, but no complaints, as we had a magical time. :)

Cali-D - I call it "our" suite b/c we've stayed in it every year we've gone since '95 - it's the rooms on the 5th floor , in the corner next to the honeymoon suite facing the lagoon - rooms 4023-4026... we get the 3 bedrooms with the sitting room in the middle. I do have pictures, but they're not scanned in, but I'll have my digicam with me in June, and you can bet I'll be taking some shots. :) I'll share! One balcony faces the lagoon, the other 3 face the new pool area and the Poly...
We call it our 2nd home. :) And now I miss it! :)

Thanks for the description! The suite sounds wonderful! How special to get the same room each time. :) Enjoy your next trip!

Welcome back, Misti! I look forward to reading your detailed trip report & pics! :)

I know exactly which suite you are talking about! :) I'm sure the view is awesome! :) Can't wait to see pictures!

Misti:
I am glad you had a great trip.
You had the same experience with the cast at the concierge desk that we had on our trip. We had been scheduled to stay there two weeks and after the second day we switched over to Poly Concierge because I just couldn't take the indifference the conciege staff had. The little things like saying hello and recognizing your existance means a lot. So I do stay at the GF once in a while just not the concierge. I was going to give it a second chance but I see nothing has changed in 3 years. So we will be giving AKL Concierge a try.

Have you seen the regular standard rooms at the BC? If you have what do you think of them? Would someone (like me) who likes to stay in deluxe rooms (the larger rooms) like those rooms? I have stayed at the Poly Std, Poly LV concierge, AKL concierge and of course my favorate 1-bdrm BWV's.

Welcome home. Now when are you going back :).

Thanks for the review--being Disney regulars and AP holders I appreciate the info. We are doing our usual July 4th trip to Poly concierge. My Dad loves GF, but we have now been spoiled by concierge. Since we need 2 rooms (we are 3 adults/3kids) I just could not justify the extra $100 x 2 a night (6 nights for another $1200.00 total) for the RPC. The poly and beach club a much more "affordable" and reasonably priced concierge option.

By the way, have you done YC concierge, and can your compare the YC and BC concierge for me. We will going back to Disney at the end of July while my son attends space camp and we are doing BC concierge. YC is more than BC and I am curious about whay the actual differences are to warrant the higher price. We have stayed at the YC and I feel it is a bit more upscale than BC, and I actually like it better. Does this carry over to the concierge as far as what you get. Let me know, and hey thanks in advance.

Misti,
have you stayed at the Yacht Club or did you go and take a look? We have the beach club reserved for this summer for 1 week. We took the beach club because the Yacht club standard room was not available. Well it is now available and we have to decide which one to go with.
Thanks

Thanks for the great, detailed report. Who needs to stay in all the WDW resorts when we can just send you and read about it.

Hi Lyn,

Sorry to hear you had a similar experience. Indifferent is a good word--should have used that. I hate to come off harsh about the GF (I was and am one of its biggest fans). But, the difference was so dramatic from my experiences at the Polynesian and Beach Concierge and it was disappointing. I hear great things about the AKL Concierge. You'll have to give us a review. Happy planning! :)

Hi minybear,

I have stayed in the Standard rooms at the Beach Club and I will say that they do feel smaller to me than the rooms at the Polynesian or Grand Floridian. Although, the square footage is pretty close. You are talking about a difference of about 10 sq feet or so. After the BWV though, every regular Deluxe room seems small. LOL Those will spoil you for sure. ;)

Hi! I haven't stayed at the YC Concierge. But, there is one team between both the YC and BC Concierge. So, I would think you'd find the YC to be quite good as well. As far as prices, the rack rates between the two resorts should be the same. I looked at the rate chart and they do appear to be the same whether you stay at the YC or BC. Perhaps the AP rate is better at one versus another? Have a great trip! :)

I stayed at the Yacht Club several years ago and I enjoyed it. It is really a matter of decor more than anything. The one good thing about the YC is that you have a patio or a full balcony. You won't have to worry about the standing room only balconies as at the BC.

Now THAT sounds like an idea! Research trips...that is what I'll have to start telling my DH to get him back again. He's convinced that we only really need to go back every other year. LOL

I'm off to the Polynesian in April and I can't wait. I walked around the resort a great deal this time and I'm really looking forward to it.

Good luck with Survivor. ;)

Glad to hear you had a great time.I've been saying all along that the best area in Disney is the Boardwalk area,BWV,YC,BC.You get more for the money. Also it's not the kids who are the problem with being untidy. It's the parents. They let them get away with it and they also encourage it at times. The parents feel that they are paying the big bucks to be there and they should be able to be messy. We all have seen it time and time again when a kid or even in most cases the parents throw something on the ground, the kids might question it. The parents reply is always that the attendant will clean it up,that's what they get paid for.
This is the single issue that bothers me most when Im down there. But I don't let it get me down. I just drive my wife nuts,as we walk along I always go out of my way to pick-up anything that's on the ground and dispose of it. And finding something on the ground is not very common at Disney.Good luck. We'll be going 03/02/02 to 03/17/02.:pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc :pinkbounc
