A warning....bring bug spray with you... I have been home for 2 days now and I still can't stop scratching...I must have about 20 bites all around my legs and ankles. THEY WERE AWFUL. Most of them came when we were waiting for buses...

We just got back today and at least two nights by the pool the mosquitos were so bad that we left the area (I forgot to bring bug repellent). I didn't notice any during the day or early evening, only around the pool. But, most of the time we were back at Coronado Springs by 6-7 o'clock.

Thanks! I probably would have forgotten the bug spray. I always seem to bring it but never use it.

We're leaving tomorrow and land at 10;30 at night. I've got my bug repelent and ready to go. Do you think we'll need it as soon as we get off the plane?

The mosquitoes were bad earlier this month at WDW, too! I got bitten all over the back of my legs, ugh!!! I never been bitten so bad before on any trip! :(

Wow! I guess we were just very lucky then. My DH and I are normally mosquito magnets, but we didn't get bit once. We were actually thinking how *low* the bug population was (We got back yesterday).

Ugh! I was really hoping that they would start to drop off with the season getting later. I will add it to my shopping list. I have only a small amount left from this summer.

Wow..we have never even seen a mosquito in the times we have gone in the past. I wonder if it may also be the resort area (ie, AKL not being able to spray and CSR being near the general area). Nevertheless, we will definitely pack our bug repellent. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm realy sorry to hear this. I hope the mosquitos leave the area soon, nothing worse than mosquito bites.

***nothing worse than mosquito bites***

Things that are worse than mosquito bites:

1. Being dropped into a huge vat of sulfuric acid.
2. Someone accidentally turning the disposal on while your hand is trying to get the blade unstuck.
3. The movie Gigli.

We got ate up on the river boat during MNSSHP on Friday night!!! I didn't notice them anywhere else.

We just got back yesterday & the mosquitos were really bad in some places...I'm still scratching. :( The worst for us was in Frontierland at MNSSHP on Oct 19th & waiting to get into the 8pm Luau on Oct 24th...a lot of people were complaining while we waited. We didn't have a problem though once we were seated. We're used to them here...we have them almost all summer long in the evenings but I hadn't given any thought to being bothered by them in WDW...we've never been bothered by them before so I didn't bother to bring any spray...I'll know better next time.

We got back last Tues after 10 days in Florida. We never had a problem at WDW parks. I had read people coming back in early Oct were bothered by them at MNSSHP so I was prepared! We didn't have a problem at the party, where we even rode the riverboat without any trouble from pests, the Swan where we stayed, or walking around the lake at Boardwalk. But we stayed a few days with a friend of ours and the bugs were TERRIBLE around his pool.

So YES they skeeters are there!!!

As Scar sang...Be PREPARED!:teeth:

We were at WDW Oct. 14-18 and never had the first problem with Mosquitos, even at AKL, there was not any problem. Usually I am a mosquito magnet. I guess we got lucky!

Ditto!!::yes::

We were tormented by mosquitoes at MNSSHP 10/19. Waiting for the headless horseman in Frontierland everyone in our party was getting bitten... out came the Off! problem solved.

Monday I saw Wishes from Main St, just a few bites. Riding the ferry back to the TTC that night the boat was covered with what looked like mosquitoes. They hopped around but never bothered me (I'm usually a target). Either they weren't mosquitoes or they were males... it was creepy.

Later in the week I waited for wishes on the walkway in front of Casey's and started to get bit again... more repellant and no problem.

I've always gotten bitten near water at Disney. We had no trouble at AKL in the evenings.

We just got back today and the bugs were out in force! I don't know where they hit us, but we're both covered! I've taken about 20 trips to WDW and NEVER encountered this problem before. And I can't remember the last time I had 1 bite, let alone the amount in which I am covered right now! I feel like one of the people on Survivor!
And the best part is when we got to our hotel room, there was a letter on the table warning about Encephalitis!!!

I was ther in the end of Sept and never got bit once and was at the pool every nite. Sorry to hear about all your misfortune

Everyone - PLEASE protect yourselves from the mosquitoes - we just lost a beloved family member to encephalitis and the tests just came back positive for West Nile Virus (contracted only from mosquitoes).

We were quite unaware of how widespread and serious the disease has become this year until it hit us personally. PLEASE just be aware and, if you have been bitten, educate yourself in case you develop symptoms. Incubation is usually between 3 and 14 days. Watch for flu-like symptoms - headache, fever, vomiting, weakness - contact your Dr. - if you also develop muscle or eye spasms or weakness go directly to the hospital and be sure the Drs know you were bitten.

I am not an alarmist and don't want to panic anyone - mosquitoes are a fact of life here in NJ - according to the CDC only 2 in 10 people infected will develop any symptoms - only 1 in 150 of those will develop a life-threatening condition - so the vast majority of those bitten will be safe - just do not put off seeing the Dr if you become ill. WNV has been confirmed in patients from 17 mos to 90 years of age.

This disease is completely preventable if you keep from getting bitten - so be sure and use bug spray with DEET (the new wipies are great for travelling and for little ones who hate the spray) - my neighbor (a nurse) says she uses Downey fabric sheets to repel mosquitoes and they can be placed in the outer clothes or in carriages of babies too young for repellent (can't verify this personally, but have heard that it works from several sources).

I just had to post this as I have seen several posts over the past few days regarding the mosquitoes and I know there have been approx 28 confirmed cases (not deaths) in the state of Fla. - perhaps I can spare someone our heartache.

The mosquitos in the seven seas lagoon and the ferry from MK back to TTC are a big problem. Use the monorail instead.
