Just Back. March 20th Animal Kingdom

We did both in May 2018. Closing is very relaxed with families and couples chatting and snacking etc. We did it 2 times at closing. Once we waited 45 minutes and once 75 (the line was never under 180 during the day and posted as 100 or so when we got in line).
We were one of the first groups to ride of the day we did rope drop, but I felt like everyone had their game face on. It was an intense atmosphere, in the humidity with a brisk walk uphill before enough coffee. I'd do either again if they were our best chance to ride (our son loved the ride so much and wanted as many shots at is as possible), but closing is definitely a more enjoyable time. I think I enjoyed the ride more because of it.

I like it best at closing. No crowds to fight, you get to see the entire queue, and the queuers are in a good mood. Also, it's awesome to do FoP and then kind of fly back to the resort afterward. Great way to end one's DAK day.

I think the early opens are concentrated on Pandora and TSL, but only on EMH days.

They usually open earlier even on "normal" open days as well.
