Just back last night! Any questions?

We got back to the house last night at 11:00 p.m. after an 11 day trip to WDW (our longest trip to date). Yes, it was hot! But I found today in Nova Scotia almost more unbearable...we have no a/c! Cloud cover on a lot of days helped us immensely. Rained mostly every day, at least for a little bit. Some days...a lot!

Parks were great, especially after the 22nd, as the locals were back in school. Restaurants were definitely busy, not many would let you in early (before your reservation time). Loved Teppan Edo. 1900 Park Fare's food was the most disappointing.

We wore "dri-fit" type clothes most days, but we were still covered with a 'glow' as soon as you were not in a/c. DH and DS, who burn like crazy, did not burn at all this trip (SPF 70 with SPF 50 touch ups during the day).

We did not push ourselves. We have seen most everything already, so we didn't kill ourselves touring. We DID try to be there close to opening every day, and most days went back for a swim. Not something we usually do.

I read somewhere that they may have changed the refillable mugs from last year. I don't think they have. Did you buy them & if so what did they look like?

I think the heat and humidity followed us home! At least at WDW there is lots of a/c and fun things to do in the heat....more than I can say for here...was stuck doing housework all day.

The mugs have the same picture ( as we had in May 2009) but are shaped differently. The picture covers the entire mug...no white part on the bottom anymore. It tapers in, but gradually, not as dramatically as the old ones did.
We were not near the main building at Coronado Springs, so we did not bother paying the $13.49 + tax for a mug. We had water and milk delivered from Garden Grocer, plus there are coffee machines in room.

We did take advantage of the free ice water/cups of ice in the parks, anywhere they sell fountain pop. We refilled our water bottles with these. Better than the warm fountains, and a heck of a lot cheaper than the bottled water!

Regarding the mugs...if you search either the resort or the restaurant threads...don't remember which...there is a pic of the new mugs.

They sound like the same mugs from last year. I have no white on the bottom either from my one last year. We were going to take ours again this year but we only used them for coffee. Since we got a drink with every meal we never used them for anything other than coffee. Someone had posted a pic of the new prices & it had a pic of the old one with the white on the bottom & I was sure they were still the old ones.

Actually, totally depends on the CM, if there is one. BWV is some what different as you have to show the CM (in the bakery I think) your refillable mug and tell her what you want and she gives you your order in a regular coke cup. One lady had the blue refillable mug from a couple years ago and they refused to fill up for her.

Hey Tillytink - we are just back too on the 31st.

And we stayed at the CSR - we were in Casita #3 very close to El Centro.

In answer to the mug question, yes they are the same. Black, red and yellow lids. Did see some with old POP, old dreams ones and various other ones and nothing was said.

We were there in 2009, the exact same weeks and I found it not to be as hot as 2009. It rained a lot more this year.....the all day stuff.

Parks were empty and very manageable at the double Fantasmic day at DHS.

If you can take the heat, I find this is the best time to go.

Did you need misters/fans etc.? Where did you buy them from? I don't know if any stores in Ontario sell them.

We found that we didn't need them. The only place where I felt hot was AK, but that park is about 10 degrees hotter.

We just made sure we drank lots of water and if I needed a cool down we just asked for a handful of ice from the drink carts.

We bought our mister there last year (September) & are taking it with us again this year. We didn't use it once last year. The first day we were there it was humid & then the humidity broke for the rest of the week & we didn't use the mister because it wasn't hot enough.

Regarding our mug use. Since they give free coffee in the room we figure filling up our mugs with coffee isn't really "stealing". We bought our mugs last year only to figure out we didn't need them since we got drinks with all our meals at the resort on free dining. We made coffee one morning & the pots were so small we barely got 2 cups out of the machine so my husband quickly went over to the food court & brought us coffee every morning after that.

Our mugs were different than what they are currently selling at CSR. They must have changed them after we were there last year (May 2009).

Misters are available at the parks. We bought one our first year and always take it with us. It seemed that the newer versions were cheaper looking, IMHO, with a flimsier trigger. We used ours a bit at the first of our trip, but didn't want to carry it the second half. More cloud cover.

Yzma and Kronk, I agree about AK. It was the one day, I felt terrible enough to want to return to the room. Desperate heat...EE, followed by Kali (stupidly wearing a rain poncho, because I didn't want to get wet so early in the day)...I thought I was in the throes of heat exhaustion. Gravol, shade and cool drinks fixed me up. Even managed our lunch reservation at Yak and Yeti.

We enjoyed CSR, but would have liked to have been closer to El Centro. However we had a bus stop (#4) right behind our building. And the bussing was fabulous...very rare to wait and we seemed to be central to everything. We just didn't eat at or use the main building very much.

I was there aug 28-sept 5 and the heat wasn't bad- it was much worse earlier this summer in southern ontario. We had one bad rain on our first night we were walking through ankle deep puddles in downtown disney-but who cares we were in disney- and no more rain for the rest of the week

lots of things blocked off but you don't really notice. Still lots to do. The entry to Winnie the pooh was strange but people seemed to have missed it so the line ups were shorter. Our week was really slow, nothing but Toy story and soaring had lines

Unfortunately, Toy Story Mania was closed while we were there. It was supposed to reopen for our last day in the parks (Aug.29) and we went to HS that day, but it was still closed.

Lines were fabulous when we were there. Fantasy land was walk on for most rides the last couple of nights we were there...a weekend too. I agree with the Winnie the Pooh ride...the entrance is covered over...very bizarre...especially with the construction going on across from it, I think it confused a lot of people. We rode it one night 3 times in a row, walk on....unheard of for Pooh. DS (15) was not impressed though!
