Well I just got home from 12 nights at Kidani Village. This was my first stay here as I am a new DVC owner. I have been reading and getting lots of tips from everyone on the boards- so thanks to all we had a great trip.

So was nervous about segmented dining packages but it went GREAT - not one issue.
night 1- no plan
night 2 DDX
night 3- no plan
night 4 DDX
night 5 DDP
night 6 DDP
night 7 DDP
night 8 DDP
night 9 DDP
night 10 No plan
night 11 DDX
night 12 no plan

Now yes had to go to lobby and check in/ out each time segment changed but took less than 6 min usually- longest 15 min butit was that cast members 1st day and he was confused but manager showed him. The first two times i got new cards- but then they stopped- everything on same cards.

waitress confused by DVC multiple printed on card and bc i had both DDP and DDX attached to card you did have to tell waitress to run as DDX or DDP- but all went well- no gllitches at all.

:cheer2:

So glad it went well for you! It gives us a greater sense of comfort for our upcoming segmented trip.
Where all did you dine? Also, what were your faves and non faves?

Yes it went great - just allow time at desk in am and ask for the print out of credits. Mine did not expire - its night of check-out but i guess the segments didnt count, bc i thought i would loose a CS but was still there on end of trip so they let me trade it for 3 snacks - got mickey rice crispy treats to bring on plane.

We ate at :

1900 park fare
Tusker House ( character Bkt)
Cinderellas castle
Sci Fi
Le cellier
Chef de France
Akerhus royal banquet
Ohanas ( Lilo and stitch Bkt )
Chef Mickeys
Tonys Town Square
Grand Floridian cafe ( a hidden gem i think- great meal)
Boma
50's Prime Time
Whispering Canyon
Crystal Palace
Yak & Yeti
Electric Umbrella
Mara
Pizza Planet

Thank you for the report! We will be at Kidani in 11 days and have segmented to have DxDDP every other night. Glad to hear it went well!

Thanks for posting we are heading down at the end of this month and doing something similar. My question is did you have to check in at the desk on Morning 3 because you were going from a plan to no plan. Or could you skip that day and check in again on DAy 4 when your second plan started

A couple of questions if you don't mind:

1) Did you have your park tickets on your room keys?

2) Did you try to use any dining credits the day of check out from one of your segments?

We ran into a problem back in April with a split stay (first portion at AKV w/ DDP, second portion at BCV, no dining plan). We saved our final CS credits for lunch on our AKV checkout day. So we checked out, hopped over to MK, and tried to use our CS credits. The CM at the checkout counter said we had no credits remaining on our KTTW. I had to go to Town Hall and spent about 30 minutes there getting things squared away. Hoping that was not what most folks doing a same-resort split stay are experiencing.

Yes - I did have to go to desk on NO PLAN days- just went a bit quicker.
They only gave me new cards twice, the rest of time they told me it would be on same card, and it was. But just remember to tell waitress DDX or DDP bc it does make a difference they are grouped DDX meal and table service, quick service and snacks. ie. end of trip I had used all Table services from DDP but had DDX credits- waitress told me I had no credits avail. When I told her I did and it was DDX plan ( i was at Ohana) she said OK let me try again and run it DDX - it worked. SO guess they tell computer DDP or DDX before ringing it in.

I am a new DVC member and took advantage of the discounted AP - so my tickets were NOT on cards bc had AP.

and on check out day we went to BOMA breakfast- no problems and then to Mara to change the one QS that I had left from earlier in week( 2 segments back) and traded that for 3 snacks to bring home :)

Oh, you give me sooo much hope for our upcoming vacay! Glad to hear everything went smoothly! Did you get a new mug for DDX day on your plan? Just curious

We had the opposite experience last week at Jambo house. We kept getting bills and notes regarding check out. Each time (3 total) we went to the desk to exchange keys, they couldn't find the reservation. CM looked, had to call a manager. On 2 occasions, they actually had us in different rooms. Each time it was a well over 20-30 minute ordeal.

Fast forward to our post cruise stay at BCV which was seamless with the segmented stay. The one keys we were issued had our full dates of stay, with a term " multiple" on it which coded the split stays and different dining plans. No need to ever go back to then front desk.

How can one resort get it so right and the other so wrong

Ohh so sorry that Jambo house was such a problem bc I was expecting a few glitches and even brought my CC with me just in case- but they never came- which was GREAT !!

And Yes we did get mugs each time we started new segment with DDX so came home with lots of mugs which my daughter and her friends used as gifts for their friends.

Hope your upcoming stay at Kidani goes as well as mine did

Have a Magical day :flower3:

thanks for the post:thumbsup2

Just wondered - did you get new refillable mugs everytime you went back on the deluxe plan??:goodvibes

Plus - I am thinking of just adding the Deluxe plan for one night (our second night) and for that of our friends travelling with us. As I want to do it for them as a treat, can I just go down and get new room keys for us all or does everyone have to go down? (They will be staying in a different studio, but using our points).

And do we also have to go back down again on the 3 morning to revert back to 'no dining plan'?

Finally, if I go down first thing in the morning to get the dining plan added (as in 7am), can I use the credits for a character breakfast that same morning?

Thanks so much for any help:thumbsup2

The dining plan needs to be added BEFORE you get to Disney - 48 hours BEFORE 1st check in- CAN NOT be added at desk in Disney.

ANd YES you will get new mugs for each NEW segment with DDX, but not if they are consecutive.

sorry no I know it has to be BOOKED before I get to Disney - I meant adding to the room card, as in changing cards from non-dining plan to dining plan and back again!

Yes- the credits stayed on for entire time- and if adding a plan they are avaliable right away- I have never had a problem- I always asked Cast member at desk for print out of dining credits so I could keep track .

Hope you have a great trip

Do I understand that you had credits that carried over from 1 segment to another? They didn't disappear midnight of the day that segment ended? That would be awesome! I would be afraid to count on it unless it seems to have happened to several posters, but it would help me figure out what meal plan to do on what day of my trip. I am leaning toward the DxDDP, but if meals and snacks might carry over I would be sure, since I wouldn't be so worried about it being way too much food!

We came back on the 24th of August, from Kidani and had a similar experience to the person at Jambo house. Check out notification every day (we had a 3 night stay with QS on the 2nd night). Trash and towel (and sometimes full housekeeping) every day and 2x our reservation needed to be cancelled and rebooked...oddly those were the days we were not on the dinning plan. Our credits expired as expected. It was a pain...but worth it.

When I did the Plan, I had trouble with it, but the front desk was able to keep track of things. However, I didn't like that at every restaurant after the first segment, they had to call to verify we had the plan. Finally,at the last segment, they gave me all 46 meals to use. So I was happy, but the rest of the family had gone home by then, so there was no way we could eat that much food at the end of the trip. I sure did like all the water we could get, though!:scared1:
