Just back and had a WONDERFUL time at Christmas at WDW! I plan to write a full trip report later, but just wanted to post about Mission Space. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Me, DH and DS5 rode it first thing Christmas Eve morning. No wait - by the way that early. . . But lines built by early morning and were still full by 8pm that night.

Anyway, we rode it and the only complaint I had was the wind blowing in my face that made my eyes water, but I am glad they had it - it made it much easier to breath with the nervousness we all felt. ;)

My DS rode right beside me and held my hand. We tilted back and took off and the g forces were a little intense, but just as you think "I can't take much more of this" you are in space with no G's at all. DS pushed his two buttons at just the right time, followed directions and all (the ride works even if you don't push your buttons).

He even grabbed his control to "drive" and did a great job with that. When it was over he said he liked it and we all agreed to ride it again, but never got the chance as the ride filled up quickly and we didn't want to wait in line.

My DS has ridden TOT and Space Mtn and says he will "NEVER" go on those again . . . (he is brave - will try anything once) but he says he doesn't like the feeling he gets from those. But after M:S, he said he wanted to ride again! He was so happy and proud of himself.

And the best thing is in the gift shop - there is a set of 8 astronauts with a rocket and a flag for TWO BUCKS!!!! WOW!!!! Cheapest gift I have ever seen! ;)

Anyway, I know several have posted about the ride and we just explained to DS before going on that it was sort of like Star Tours (which he loves) except he had his own screen. And he wanted to go try it!

Every child is different - but wanted to post about our experience.

Thanks for the info! My little daredevil has been wanting to ride this but I've been reluctant to take him on it. He loves thrill rides! Next trip, we'll have to let him try it. Thanks again!

I think my DS4 would love this ride. He likes Star Tours, but he didn't want to go on Mission Space when we were there a few weeks back.
He was ready to try it but one night we were in our resort watching TV. It was on some Disney channel & they were doing the Top 7 must sees. Well, when they showed Mission Space a lot of people were screaming  and now he thinks it is a very scary ride. I tried explaining it to him but he keeps saying people will be screaming & he doesn't want to hear it.

I am hoping to talk him into in June. I am pretty sure he would enjoy it.
DH & I did the child swap. We both loved it. I know my DS would like it too. I think the TV show just scared him into trying it.

Glad your son enjoyed himself

Yes, I know what you mean about that clip. There was no point where we were screaming. We were just in awe. Almost dumbstruck. Funny though, my DS wanted to see it because he saw a clip about it on the Disney Channel before we left home. That is all he talked about before we went.

And speaking of the new clips on the TV at the resorts. I don't like them near as much as the old. I miss the Zip a Dee Doo Dah TIP for TODAY!!!!!! :(
