We stayed 3 nights HRH club, room 7050. View was great, we were just to the left of the Hard Rock sign on the hotel overlooking the pool and parks.

We also had the Stevie Wonder cabana reserved for 2 of the days we were there, paid $75 the first day with the club discount. The second day we were told that they don't discount the themed cabanas for club anymore, even though I could see on the reserve sheet where it had $75 club noted next to my name. We argued for a few minutes and they finally gave me the quoted rate which was on their sheet. Not sure if that is the new policy or not, nobody mentioned anything the first day.

We've stayed club the past several stays, we'll probably go for the cheap room next time, especially if there is no discount for the cabana. The club staff is nice but not very helpful, we tried to get help making diner reservations and were told just show up with your room card at Bob Marleys. Actually, Marleys takes reservations and they don't honor the hard rock room key for anything. The food offerings were ok, nothing special.

Any questions, I'll be glad to answer what I can. We checked in on Tuesday and out on Friday.

We just got back too! We probably passed in the Hallways!LOL

I'm glad that they are refurbing the place! It's looking very old! I feel sorry for the Housekeeping staff. Every morning I found that hallways were filthy from people just leaving their garbage (cookie crumbs, etc) in the hallways!

Also when renting a Cabana, let the lifeguards know that you will be there later if you don't spend the day there! I told the guy at the Towel Hut but I guess he forgot to pass along the message!

I rented one for both Friday and Saturday. Ended up cancelling Saturdays, but found out that Friday's another Family Enjoyed it during the day whilst in the Parks! Hope they had a great time on my Dime! :confused3 The Fitness Centre wasn't very helpful in informing them that it was rented! Lifeguard didn't even know or he claims that he would not have let them use it! Yeah Right! They did discount is a further $20.00 and offered to buy us dinner but we had already ate! It was nice that I could sit there and enjoy the movie and DD got to watch her MTV!

Club Level was nice to try, but definately not worth the price of Admission! But will definately stay on site for FOTL access! That Rocked!

Oh, and for those who have babies with them, when they start wailing at 7:00 a.m. in the morning, get out of bed and console them! Not Everybody wants to listen to them! :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 And have your kids NOT try to get into the next room if you have a connecting room!

As for the Club Staff they were nice but I think that they need a little more training as to what is available on their own property. And it would help if they knew more about other Attractions too!

It was an experience at least to try once!

I too just returned. As far as the comment on feeling sorry for the housekeeping staff, I must disagree on some level. I am sure that not all of the housekeeping staff is what we encountered, so I apologize in advance to anyone who may be offended, I travel frequently and take seriously the work that these people do to make my vacation wonderful, I also tip them all well.

Anyway..... I too found the hallways to be disturbingly dirty, but mostly our room was NEVER vacuumed in 5 days. I tip each day (more than $5 each day) for housekeeping services, and our room would be made up but there were cigarrette butts on the carpet a few days, sand from the pool (dd sandals) that remained for 4 days and outside in the hall there were dirty q-tips (alot of them). I am not talking about early in the day either, as last friday we went to our room at 6:30 pm to find the hallways full of dirty laundry and trash with no housekeeping in sight I actually had to move carts to get through to our room. I still love the hotel, but the housekeeping staff was less than adequate for me. And yes I did leave a note requesting specifically for the carpet to be vacuumed (note under the tip) only to find the carpet filthy, the note in the trash and the tip removed. I also left a note about the tv remote needing batteries (never happened). Oh well, I will return as the rest of the staff was more than helpful to us during our stay.
I just received my thankyou from Universal asking for comments. I replied with the gist of what I have written along with a suggestion not to charge the parking fee on top of what you are already paying for. The distance from the parks and fotl was well worth any hassles we had, and after I cleaned the rugs myself with my hands and a trusty piece of cardboardish paper, it was of no distress to us in the end!

Maybe we got lucky, but our hallways seemed clean most of the time and we have never had a issue with housekeeping. I did not know that they were refurbing the rooms, the room we had looked just the same as they always have.

Our biggest complaint was that the club service and offerings seems to continue to decline. For us, its not really worth the money anymore.

We do love the hotel and we will continue to stay there, probably not on the 7th floor though.

Are any of the rooms done being refurbed? This would help in requesting a room, however it will not help the housekeeping issue.

I was told it would be complete by October. As to when they are starting? :confused3

We missed you by 2 days, Mark. I was going to leave the beer mug Mardi Gras beads for you at HRH front desk. I got them last year and they were unique. This year they had them everywhere. Glad you had fun.

When we stayed at RPR club level last summer, we had the same problem with the concierge. They kept telling us that we didn't need reservations, just show the room key - as it turned out we usually got hungry early and never even had to do that.

BTW, in my experience a note for housekeeping does not always work. Many times I have had housekeepers who don't speak the same language I do and just throw out the note. I always call housekeeping with my requests, and that works much better!

Years ago, I had a bit of a problem with HRH checking out. I'd paid one night's fee months earlier when I booked, but they added it back in when I checked out. I was assured their billing program did this automatically and it would taken out by the time I received my CC statement. DH, DM and I spent nearly two hours at the check out trying to understand how they could do this. We finally left, and my CC was never billed for a credit. I waited for a few cycles on my CC, called HRH every time there wasn't a credit, called CC company...it was a giant headache and never ended up getting resolved. I do still stay at HRH, but I always pay in full either when I book or when I check in.

HRH has also been a lifesaver for my family. Last year, DH and I were heading to WDW for four nights, then meeting up with my DB & DM for three nights at UO/HRH (they're not into WDW). We stayed at CSR, which we'd enjoyed many times before. Our room at CSR was atrocious. DH turned down his sheets on our first night after a long, tiring day at the parks and the sheets were urine soaked (big, damp, yellow circle that smelled of pee), through the sheets, pad and all the way to the mattress. We had a heck of a time getting management to switch us to a different room. They thought we had done this. The thought of CSR not changing sheets between guests had my skin crawling (what else didn't they clean?). They finally moved us to another room at like midnight. DH turned down the sheets, and two palmetto bugs were in his bed. Talk about a nightmare!

We could not stay at CSR. That morning, I called HRH and explained our situation. They were very accommodating and were able to get us in that day, which was three days earlier than our reservation. I was a little concerned we were going to have to move to another room once the rest of our party arrived, as we had adjoining rooms, but they put us in the room we were going to have anyway. HRH hotel was packed, BTW, with evacuees from the Keys from one of last year's storms, but they still were able to this for us.

I guess all these places have their problems.

Oh, CSR did refund our night's stay without question. The daytime management was much better than the nighttime manager we dealt with.

Hey Motherfletcher! I think we are working on trying to make it back down in June so maybe we can catch up then. If not, looks like next March before we get back down.

We are staying at HRH club level at the end of July, and after reading all of these...........I am getting a little concerned that club level isn't worth the money. (not to mention all this talk about poor housekeeping). Can someone who has been there recently tell me what the offerings were in the club lounge.
This is our first trip to Universal, and our first family vacation where we are splurging. If this doesn't go well the husband will never let us splurge again :sad2:

Yes there are. There is also lemonade. They do have cold cereal in the morning.
