We got in late last night and are exhausted. But we had a wonderful 4 nights at the YC.
We got there about 12:30 on Thursday. We got into MCO about 11:20. We waited 10 min. in the checkin line for ME and then 15 min. for our line to go to a bus (YC/BC/Swan/Dolphin).
Our room was ready! I was more than thrilled. We had booked standard view but MAY have gotten an upgrade because we could see water--we were in room 4150. It was steps from elevators and close to a staircase if we wanted to go right out front too. We were right over the wedding gazebo. If we looked to the left we saw crescent lake and the BW and had beautiful gardens below us. DH really enjoys the balcony and sat out there almost every night.
Our mousekeeping was great. Rooms were cleaned by our midday break each day. When we checked in we had a little basket made out of towerls--then the next day 3 little birds--then an animal on the TV--then a little ragdoll towel creation on Sunday. The towel animals we've had before (none last year at Poly) were just towels but now they are doing a lot with pipe cleaners and stickers. We also had turndown service.
Enjoyed the pool the first night from about 9 to 10 (when it closes). Went in for an hour or so the second day. Sunday DH, DS and I swam for 2 hours and got a tube for the lazy river --$3 an hour or $10 for the day. Yes there were people saving chairs but we always found at least one since we weren't sitting out. It was hot--tied a record Sunday (96). DH found an abandoned tube and DS used it. He also found an abandoned noodle ($4.26 at the pool shop--and how people would take them home I will never know). The pool had lots to do and a great slide. The water was warm--easily in the mid to upper 80s. They had pool games every afternoon--hula hoop contests, bingo, etc--and a DJ.
We took the boat to MGM, walked to Epcot, and took the bus to MK. No issues there. The only problem was more of an inconvenience. The first day the bus driver dropped us at the very far end of the bus areas--one is under construction and not being used. The other guy dropped us at stop 8. This first one dropped us at the farthest stop--I think it is for Pop. It was a long hot walk for a woman very eager to get the heck into MK! Other than that we never stood for a bus--although DH gives up his seat for other women all the time. YC is picked up and dropped off before BC. And for every trip we took to MK the bus was JUST YC/BC--no BW, swan or dolphin.
I got a mug from the marketplace. Really that is not much of a place to eat and we never used CS credits there, although we burned up our snack credits before we left yesterday. It is a HIKE from the YC as well. We did get shakes from Beaches and Cream.
All in all we really enjoyed this resort. For our March trip we may even return here instead of our original choice the Contemporarary. You can't beat the convenience and a garden wing room s cheaper than at the YC, but since we've been there/done that, our trips are a lot more mellow now and the YC fits us at this point. I thought about trying BC too. It seems more our style, but I don't want DH to get stuck with one of those little balconies. Plus from the back side it looks like some of their standard view rooms could be really yucky. So YC it will be.
I will check back later if you have any questions I didn't address--I go back to school
next Monday and haven't done kids' shopping or much of anything so I cannot allow myself to stay on long today! Plus LAUNDRY!
