We got in late last night and are exhausted. But we had a wonderful 4 nights at the YC.
We got there about 12:30 on Thursday. We got into MCO about 11:20. We waited 10 min. in the checkin line for ME and then 15 min. for our line to go to a bus (YC/BC/Swan/Dolphin).
Our room was ready! I was more than thrilled. We had booked standard view but MAY have gotten an upgrade because we could see water--we were in room 4150. It was steps from elevators and close to a staircase if we wanted to go right out front too. We were right over the wedding gazebo. If we looked to the left we saw crescent lake and the BW and had beautiful gardens below us. DH really enjoys the balcony and sat out there almost every night.
Our mousekeeping was great. Rooms were cleaned by our midday break each day. When we checked in we had a little basket made out of towerls--then the next day 3 little birds--then an animal on the TV--then a little ragdoll towel creation on Sunday. The towel animals we've had before (none last year at Poly) were just towels but now they are doing a lot with pipe cleaners and stickers. We also had turndown service.
Enjoyed the pool the first night from about 9 to 10 (when it closes). Went in for an hour or so the second day. Sunday DH, DS and I swam for 2 hours and got a tube for the lazy river --$3 an hour or $10 for the day. Yes there were people saving chairs but we always found at least one since we weren't sitting out. It was hot--tied a record Sunday (96). DH found an abandoned tube and DS used it. He also found an abandoned noodle ($4.26 at the pool shop--and how people would take them home I will never know). The pool had lots to do and a great slide. The water was warm--easily in the mid to upper 80s. They had pool games every afternoon--hula hoop contests, bingo, etc--and a DJ.
We took the boat to MGM, walked to Epcot, and took the bus to MK. No issues there. The only problem was more of an inconvenience. The first day the bus driver dropped us at the very far end of the bus areas--one is under construction and not being used. The other guy dropped us at stop 8. This first one dropped us at the farthest stop--I think it is for Pop. It was a long hot walk for a woman very eager to get the heck into MK! Other than that we never stood for a bus--although DH gives up his seat for other women all the time. YC is picked up and dropped off before BC. And for every trip we took to MK the bus was JUST YC/BC--no BW, swan or dolphin.
I got a mug from the marketplace. Really that is not much of a place to eat and we never used CS credits there, although we burned up our snack credits before we left yesterday. It is a HIKE from the YC as well. We did get shakes from Beaches and Cream.
All in all we really enjoyed this resort. For our March trip we may even return here instead of our original choice the Contemporarary. You can't beat the convenience and a garden wing room s cheaper than at the YC, but since we've been there/done that, our trips are a lot more mellow now and the YC fits us at this point. I thought about trying BC too. It seems more our style, but I don't want DH to get stuck with one of those little balconies. Plus from the back side it looks like some of their standard view rooms could be really yucky. So YC it will be.
I will check back later if you have any questions I didn't address--I go back to school :sad1: next Monday and haven't done kids' shopping or much of anything so I cannot allow myself to stay on long today! Plus LAUNDRY!

great mini trip report on the YC!

I know next time by DF and I go to WDW we will be staying at the Yacht Club! We want to give it a try...We usually stay at the BWI and BC. i would love to try other resorts in different areas of the world but we just love the epcot areas so much !

I LOVE the Yacht Club - it's my favorite Epcot Resort! Glad you had a phenomenal stay. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great report!!! The YC is our favorite resort and we'll be there again in THREE days!    Glad you had a wonderful time! :)

Question - do you have to pay for turndown service?

Are there cabs available outside? (we have a number of ADR's at other resorts during our 2nd week and also trips to Seaworld planned and having never been to WDW before don't know what to expect!)

Are there places in the lobby to fill up your refillable mug first thing in the morning?

Thanks.

I'd like to know about the cabs as well if you noticed....

DH is doing the surf lessons at TL one morning and needs to be there by 5:30am so he'll need a cab. Should he have the front desk call for one or will there be one outside do you know?

:goodvibes

I did see cabs outside but I got the impression they had been called. I would ask ahead of time whether or not you need to call--esp. at 5:30! Wow!
You could get your cup filled at Hurricane Hannas. They also told me I could get it filled at one of the lounges--Crews Cup, I believe? I don't think it was Ale and Compass. I know one night I asked DD#2 to get me some iced tea--she waited at the lounge--and then they told her they didn't have iced tea, so she had to go to BC anyhow. Whoops!
No you don't have to pay for turndown service but you have to ask. I forgot to ask the first day but we called Friday morning and had it Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. I love those chocolates.
kldmom I know you'll have a great time. And as a bonus we only hit rain once the entire trip--on Saturday night at the start of the P&P party at MK. I also heard that Epcot did not have any rain at that time, so if that holds up you'll do great.

We are staying at the BC in 6 weeks and can not wait. I will remember to ask for turndown service when we arrive as my DS and, DD will love the chocolates and towel decorations. Thanks for that tip.
I hope the service and rooms at the BC are just as nice as the YC. We have never been to either resort.

I'm sure the rooms are just as nice. And I saw some fun things going on in the BC lobby yesterday--looked like some kids were bowling with Lilo and Stitch or something.
FYI--towel animals are not guaranteed! We didn't get any at the Poly last year. I think it depends on your mousekeeping. I wouldn't want your kids to be looking for them and not get them. It was a nice surprise for us. I made sure to tell a manager about how good our mousekeeping was.

I knew that about the towels and we can only hope to get them. They can be quite amazing a real treat to come "home" to. :)

OH! I forgot one thing...we did the beach movie thing. Or at least DH and DS did. On Sunday night the girls and I went to the room and I started packing up and DH and DS stayed on the beach and watched "Cars"--we missed the first 45 min. but they really enjoyed it.

Glad you had a good stay. We were there June 28-July 12th and had a ball! Glad to hear they are still doing the kids activities and the beach movie.

We will miss the Sunday night movie as we will be at MNSSHP, but we will hopefully catch some of the kids activities. Do you remember any of the kids activities? I'd love to tell my DD and DS. Thanks.

When we werre there (June 28-July 12) they were doing the movie on the beach every night! Some of the kids activities I remember where Bingo by the pool, hula hoop contests, Disney trivia and a "kids pool party" where they had a DJ and did line dances like the macarena, electric slide etc. My kids had a ball! Oh and they were also doing this "dunk an adult" game, not a real dunk tank but along the same general idea. HTH!

Thanks for the preview! We will be heading to Yacht Club at the end of September and can't wait.
