Just back from Wilderness Lodge!!!

I'm glad you had a good time at WL. We love it there and can't imagine staying anywhere else. We're headed back for our honeymoon in 2 months and hoping for some of that upgrade pixiedust. I know there are some nice courtyard rooms with a king bed since that was what we were upgraded to on our first stay there after we asked to switch resorts. If it doesn't happen we won't be too sad, it's still WDW and the WL.

I'm changing my ressie today from AKL savannah view to WL standard view. I will be saving quite a few bucks and without the animals the view doesn't matter to me. WL is DH's dream resort and I like the idea of staying someplace new to us. My two worries about the resort are 1.) the pool, with only one pool and the villas next door does it get more crowded then the other deluxe pools? 2.) Roaring Forks, we like the mod's for the food courts and at AKL we liked Mara alot. We like to pop in for a quick breakfast on occassion and sometimes for a burger at lunch, maybe a snack during the day. How is Roaring Forks, food selection and seating? TIA :)

Not sure about AKL but Roaring Forks food is fine. It's counter service and pretty much everything you would expect at Disney. There's plenty of seating but it does get pretty crowded around Breakfast and Lunch time.

There are two pools at WL. The main courtyard pool and the villas pool which is also known as the quiet pool. The main and quiet pools also have their own hot tubs so you have a choice.

We prefer the quiet pool but that's just us.

As for your view, who knows, perhaps you will get an upgrade! :)

Just an idea - we try the WL next year - 2006-
For trips to DTD - someone posted a 50 minute wait for a bus -

Are there buses to the TTC ?

Would it be faster to go to the TTC and get on a DTD bus ?

Or boat to Contemporary - take the monorail to TTC, then bus to DTD ?

Am I making a trip to DTD to complicated ?

anyone else with idea's on WL to DTD ?

Someone may have waited 50 minutes for a bus to DTD once, but it's not the norm. I'd try the busses yourself and see what you think. We've made that trip many times and it's usually a very efficient route. You may have to stop at the water park, depending on the time of day you go, so it adds a few minutes to the trip, but not much.

Unfortunately, there is no longer a bus from WL to TTC, so that's out. ( It goes directly from WL to MK now ).

My advice would be to not make a trip to DTD more complicated than it should be. Once you start boating, bussing, or mono-railing to inter-mediate places in order to catch more busses, boats, or mono-rails, you probably lose more time than you gain.

Good luck!

No bus to TTC =( I like taking that and then getting on the monorail to Epcot.

There are no longer buses that go from resorts to the TTC. Long gone now. I would take the boat to the MK since it is a really nice boat ride then take a bus from there.

Do you remember when they got rid of the FW/WL/TTC bus? I could have sworn we rode it last May and most definitely in 2003.

I think it was fairly recent - like March of this year?

I just want to add that at Roaring Forks we asked if they had soy milk and they were so nice and friendly about it! Some places make you feel like a pain in the butt for asking but they couldn't have been nicer to us! :sunny:

Hi,
Were you able to get soy milk at Roaring Forks?

As far as going to MK and taking a bus to DTD, I don't think this is possible either. As far as I know, and I'm pretty sure, there are no busses from any of the parks to DTD.

Yes, I can vouch for this. We wanted to take a bus from the MK in April to DTD, and were told we could only catch a bus from the resorts. Thus, we walked over to the Contemporary.

(And waited...and waited...finally gave up and took a cab!)

Good tip! Now, how to get to DTD to rent the car? :rotfl:

The Car Care center near MK rents cars (Alamo and National) and will send a shuttle to your resort to pick you up. All you have to do is call and ask.

Yes. I just had to ask someone. After the first day of asking they told me to stop back anytime that the container would be there for me to use. She even showed me the container before she opened it the first time. They were so nice about it!

I posted this earlier this year: (March) Note that after the MK closes the bus does return to the original route to TTC later in the evening.

Disney Transport will have new route for the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. There will be DIRECT BUS SERVICE from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom.
The Fort Wilderness "Orange" bus that would previously head to Wilderness Lodge and onto the Transportation & Ticket Center will now only head to the Wilderness Lodge. After the Magic Kingdom clears for the night, the original route that use to go to TTC will resume.

BOAT SERVICE WILL NOT CHANGE.

If you will have a rental car I highly suggest using it for any trips to DTD.The bus service to that location from the WL has definite problems. We had waits of 45-60 minutes more than once to/from that location. I also talked to others at the Lodge with the same problem. This was last week and all of WDW was busy though.

This problem isn't exclusive to Wilderness Lodge I have actualy had the longest waits to DTD at Animial Kingdom Lodge, and the Boardwalk so I now drive when visiting DTD.

...I must have been LUCKY, cuz' we didn't have to wait longer 'n 10 minutes for a bus to DTD. And I don't recall it taking too long to get there [to/from AKL, that is!] Now, busses to DTD from WL, we-e-e-e-ll, THAT'S another story....
