Just a quick note, I am back from trip to WDW, renting at National, Emerald Reserve, full size. We had a full size booked, but we were not thrilled with the choices (there WAS a comvertible though!) We wanted lots of luggage space, so the attendent pointed us back to the Emerald Aisle, where there were 2or 3 Aztecs. We took one, it was fine, lots of room for luggage.

I was re-doing my ressie every time the rate dropped before we left. When I was checking out, they said I still had 3 active reservations. I KNOW I cancelled every time I changed the fare. National needs to allow us to adjust our current reservations, or give us a way to view all upcoming reservations........

National was great, very low rate.....

I leave in less than 3 weeks. I always rent with National at the Car Care Center. This time I've got a compact car...usually get a full size....hope I can handle it!!!!!!!!!!!!

What types of cars did you see in the full size aisle? We have a full size reserved for our trip this summer and I'm curious as to what we may find when we get there. I'm mostly concerned about how much luggage we can fit in the trunk.

Also ~ thanks for the heads up on the cancelled reservations problem. I have rebooked mine twice already due to price drops. I'll be sure to call a couple of days ahead to be sure they are in fact cancelled.

We did the same thing at the end of Jan - EA was loaded with SUVs and there were only 3 Malibus on the whole full-size aisle. I asked at the little glass enclosed customer service office and was told to go ahead and take a car from EA - Jeep SUV gave us lots more room for luggage and teenaged boys !

I always call EC a couple of days before I leave to make sure I have cancelled all my reservations - last time the girl laughed at me and said she couldn't believe how many times I had cancelled and rebooked online - then she added "wow, that's a really great rate you have!" - ($168. for a full size for 10 days ) - I thought so, too ! :smooth:

Just back 3/5 and booked Emrald Reserve Full Size. Terminal A side. The full size aisle was about half full at 3:45Pm. Cars available included Impalas, Monte Carlo, Buick Century. We took a blue impala with 6 miles on it! Plenty of room for luggage, 4 bags fit with room to spare! Love the "new car smell!!!"
Check out was 3minutes max no lines! Check in was just as fast!

OK.. maybe you can help me. I just signed up for National Emerald Club but I didnt receive any info via email or anything. It said something about mailing information in 4-6 weeks. I want to book but I dont want to wait 4-6 weeks for any special code numbers. But dont i need a member number? We need a rental Nov. 26 - Dec. 9. We have 7 people any suggestions on vehical type? Last time we rented we went through Almo and I didnt like there service. So i illiterate when it comes to National and all of these rental codes and membership things. I just want the easiest way to pick a vechical and go. I dont want to be pressured with lots of hidden costs. Thanks for any help!! :flower:

bjakmom, Did they end you charging you for the full size or the intermediate?

DisneyFan, How did you sign up for EC? If you did it on the web, you should have received a member ID. you can use that to create a login ID to the EC home page. If you did it over the phone, I would call customer service back and request your ID.

I'd hate to think how many reservations would show up if they looked to see how many times I've cancelled and rebooked. Scary!!! I hope all mine are really cancelled.

Mickey Maniac - I had reserved full-size with Emerald Reserve because when we were there in Dec the EA was practically empty with the exception of a few intermediates - I was travelling with 3 good-sized (tall) men (2 teens), so I wanted to be sure and have 'at least' a full-size. The rate that I had for a full-sized was only a few dollars more than EA - in short, they charged me for exactly what I had reserved, full-size, even though I took an SUV off of EA.

I signed up my brother for Emerald Isle and I received a number for him right then (A little paper card). I was able to book him a car immediatly. Be warned....It was a much better deal to do the transaction without using the Emerald Isle Contract ID number. I used the priceless code number and the entertainment code number BUT I chose Emerald Reserve Service so the don't have to wait in line for the car. I would check on this....you should have been given a number and then they will send the "Real" card in the mail. I signed him up using the # and link from Mousesavers so there was no fee.

Thats how i did it through mousesavers. So I had no fee. But I wonder if I thought I was done and I wasnt. I am going to go and resign up and see what happens. Anyone have any ideas on vehical types?

I was with Pat - I think the only car on the full size row was a convertible (Chrysler?). We had 4 people w/lots of luggage, that was not going to work. I found an attendent and he asked if we were Emerald Club members and we said yes, he pointed towards the Aztecs on the EA. Other than the Aztecs, most of the cars on the EA were Chevy Classics (Yuck!!!!). There were quite a few full sizes on the Executive Aisle - I'd say at least 20. I don't understand why there was only 1 car on the full size row but all these nice full sizes on Executive. It was like that when I was there in December, the Executive Aisle was loaded. How many people qualify for Executive to warrant that many cars held there with only 1 on the regular full size. We were thrilled to get the Aztec, it held all our luggage.

I too book and cancel a lot of reservations...love saving money! :Pinkbounc

What I do is after I cancel, I go back in to make/modify/cancel reservations and put the original reservation number into the system. I always get back a pop-up that verifys that the reservation is cancelled. I've never had a problem with National.

Yes, I will double check the next time. It was not really a problem, I was just a little embarrassed, PLUS she made us SIT THERE while she cancelled them. (punishment I guess) She was nice about it, don't get me wrong, I just like to get out of there fast!
