Just back from WDW using MYW dining plan

I plan to split our stay (4 nights at BC; 4 nights at Swan). I understand Swan is not in the Dining Plan. I could get the Dining Plan for the 4 nights at BC though, right? Does the dining plan expire on the day we leave BC, or could I use any leftover meals on the remaining days of our trip?

Also, if I split my stay between these 2 hotels, does that mean I can't buy, let's say, a 7 day MYW ticket? Would I have to buy 4 days for BC and then a 3 day ticket for the time we're at the Swan? That would mean I'm paying for more tickets. Maybe I need to rethink going to the Swan?

Thanks

Skiingwife, as I understand it, the MYW tix don't have to be just for the length of stay. You could get tix for one day, or for ten days, and they would still count toward your package. Don't know if I am explaining this understandably- do you get me? For example, you could get the MYW package with dining for four days, but buy the 7 day tickets. Then get a room only ressie for the remaining three days- your tickets will already be covered.

Your MTW meals expire at midnight of your checkout day- you couldn't save any for the other days.

Thanks MomofKatie! I think I get it. I can get the dining plan for the 4 days that we're at beach club but yet get the MYW tickets for 7 days. That's what I was hoping.

I honestly don't know the answer to this because it wasn't an issue for us - two adults, two kids, and we ate all our meals together.

However, it really is a very simple system to use. Since everything's coded to your KTTW card, I'm sure a quick scan of your card at any location would most likely give you the information you needed. Or if I really wanted to be sure I might just jot it down in my wallet like I do our parking lot locations and save your receipts. They also tell you to call the front desk of your resort if there are any problems. :earsgirl:

This plan is really close to the silver plan that we used last December, but it seems to be a better value. Our plan was called wishes and it was $34.00 per person that we could use as we wished. you could use all your wishes in one day or spread them out. We were there 10 and each person got 2 wishes a day so that would make 20 wishes per, and our room card every thing was on that card. Both cards had the same number on it but everyone would get their own card and the 40 wishes was on each card. So we only used the wishes on expensive meals cuz we couldn't see using a $34.00 for a counter service or a breakfast buffet.
We really liked the silver plan when we were there, but now it seems it is still only $35.00 per day and includes meals and a snack which is better.
but concerning how many meals are left, you can always go to guest services at your hotel and they will print it off for you where and when you used your meals and how many you have left, hope this helps

This may have already been answered, and if so I apoligize.

Do the kid's sit down meals include an appeitizer? I can't imagine that they do, since there are not appetizers on the kid's menus. Just checking.

I have a pretty big eater, who swears she can't find stuff on the kid's menus. I keep telling her, that there will be plenty, since daddy, and I get appetizers with our meals.

I Booked Our Trip From 4-24 To 4-30 2005, And Did 2 Days Of Of Research On This My Way Meal Plan. It Is A Deal For My Family But Our Plan When We Are There Is: Ressies For Chef Mickeys Dinner, Cinderella Breakfast, Fanatasmic Dinner Package, And Luau At Poly. This Will Well Pay Off For These Days. By The Way You Can Use The Sit Down Option For A Sit Down Breakfast, Not Just Dinner . The Neat Thing Is You Can Look At The Places You Want To Eat On Line & Check Out Their Menus And Prices Prices. Get An Idea What You Will Really Spend. It Is An Awesome Deal If You Plan To Do Character Meals And A Nice Dinner At Night. My Price Was 34.00 For Adult, And Kids Were 9.99 Each Day For The My Way Meal Plan. Well Kids Are A No Brainer. 1 Character Meal Is 12.99, And You Still Would Get Your Counter Servic Meal And Snack That Day (wow). Even The Adult Is A Good Deal. People Do Not Think They Are Going To Spend Alot On Food, And Forget To Include Tax And Tip In Their Budget. They Also Forget That The Food Is Sometimes 2 Times The Price As It Would Be At Home. With This Plan You Can Eat Like King And Queens The Entire Time You Are There Instead Of Thinking If I Should Not Get The Steak Cuz It Is Too Expensive . Just Go All Out And No Worries!!! I Booked The My Way Dinner Plan For Our Entire Party. If You Are On A Stricked Budget And Are Going To Eat Out Of Your Room That Is A Different Story. Of Course You Would Not Want This Plan Then. You Can Eat Alot Cheaper That Way And Save Alot Of $$$$, But If You Are Going To Eat In The Parks Anyway It Is A Good Deal. I Am Glad I Heard A Good Experience Using The Meal Plan Cuz It Sounded To Good To Be True And I Was A Little Worried. Thanks For The Info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Will Post My Experience When We Get Back. Hope It Is All It's Cracked Up To Be.

You can't use the dining plan for the Fantasmic Dinner Package.

I Was Told By Reservations That It Is Good At Hoolywood And Vine, And I Could. However Some Of The Reservations People At The Dinning # Said No And Some Said Yes. They Do Not Have Their Act Together Yet On This For It Is New. I Will Find Out When I Get There. I Am Using Onesit Down For Cindy's Breakfast, So I Figure If They Say No I Will Need To Pay For One Sitdown Dinner Anyway During Our Trip. Thanks For The Info. Not Even Disney Can Get This One Straight. I WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU ARE, BUT WE WILL BE AT CBR

Princess4everamy,

Please don't capitalize the first letter of every word you write, it is extremely hard to read.

My computer must have been set on that, because I did not intend to do that. Sorry if it was hard on the eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please let us know when you get back if you were able to do the FDP at Hollywood&Vine. Thanks.

I agree with PRINCESS4EVERAMY that there is conflicting information on this at WDW DINE.

I distinctly remember the morning last week sitting on the bed at Pop changing our PSs (because when we got to WDW they had changed some of the EMH nights which threw a wrench into many of our plans). I specifically asked about the Fantasmic Dinner Package and absolutely could have booked it then and there but chose not to. I'm almost positive she said I'd have to use two options each like with the Sig restaurants but I couldn't see doing that (wish I could remember the details of that converstaion). So we just went to H&V and walked into Fantasmic afterward which was fine.

I wonder what would have happened at bill time had I actually booked it that day?? :crowded:

I posted on another board about the myw with dining. After reading this entire thread this sounds like an awesome deal! :cool1:

Here's a sample of one day's totals. Since we payed $90/day (2 adults and 2 seven year olds) it was a nice savings.

4 popcorns@ $2.75 each: $11
4 counter service meals w/ dessert: $45
4 dinners with appetizers, desserts and gratuity: $114
Total: $170 (an $80 savings).

Lastly, we found that having a big lunch around noon, then a big dinner at 6ish was kind of a lot. Spacing it out more would be better, if possible. And though we never tried it, I wondered if you could make breakfast count as one of the counter service meals instead of lunch, I bet you could. (We had bought some breakfast items for our room. Also, we had to change many of our dinner PS's because when we got to the resort some of the previously published Extra Magic Hours days had changed so we had to change most of our dinner times and not all hours were available at that point). :headache:

If I can answer ?s I'll try. Overall I'd recommend the plan! :wizard:

Thanks so much for posting this. I can't wait to use my dining plan in August :Pinkbounc I'm sure I'll have questions as I get closer to my date.

We booked this option with our trip in March - hope the CM's know about it everyplace by then! Can't wait!!!!

Pea-N-Me.... just want you to know how much I appreciate this thread! I booked the dining package for our trip (10 months away) and thought it would be a good deal, but it's nice to hear you say what a GREAT deal it was!! Thanks again!

Pea n Me,

You may have answered this already, but which sit down restaurant do you feel you got the most bang for your buck?

I pulled out all the slips but all the food rang in as $0.00 so I'll have to do it from memory:

Ohana was the most expensive probably because we each got our own dessert, $118. We enjoyed the food there and the kids had a blast. One of our favorites. I guess this is where I'd have to say we got the most bang not only because the bill was highest but because as a family we had a very memorable evening, a view of the castle and enjoyed watching the kids have so much fun in a restaurant.

We really enjoyed our Boma evening, too, which was I believe around $95. The food was excellent as was the whole atmosphere at the AKL. DH didn't think he'd like the food mix but he liked it more than anyone and can't wait to go back. Service was good.

LTT was also around $90 and fun. The food was pretty good but kind of IHOP-like for lack of a better term (maybe because of the Stouffer's reference??), though we aren't particularly fussy and enjoyed it nonetheless. It was the only character meal we did and the interaction was good. Service was excellent. Very loud in there.

Cape May and Prime Time were in the high $80 to $90 range. Cape May was ok. We love the Y&BC area so will probably go again. Will probably not visit PT again. I got the seafood pasta dish. The scallops weren't cooked to my liking (kind of raw) and the whole dish appeared as if it'd been sitting out for a while. I didn't send it back because our waitress was very busy and I didn't hated to bother her, so I just didn't eat much of it. I picked at the shrimp, veggies and a little of the pasta (probably should have gotten the steak like DH did or the fried chicken which looked awesome). We had an appetizer and dessert, though, so I didn't leave there hungry by any means. Our server worked hard at entertaining everyone in our "room" and also could have used some roller skates. She'd be gone for long periods and running around when she came back. Felt a little uncomfortable there looking back. Oh well.

We did enjoy H&V and will go again, but if you're looking to get bang for the buck I think this was one of the least expensive places we ate. But the food was very fresh and we liked the selections. Service was good.

As for the counter service places, we really liked Pepper Market and wanted to go back a second time to sample more of their offerings but never made it. Casey's was the least expensive but we got four hot dogs and shared two fries and two brownies instead of four fries and four brownies which was too much for us to eat.

If we do the plan in the future I look forward to trying some new places. BTW, DH is a culinary graduate and is in the restaurant business so this whole thing was interesting from his perspective. :magnify:

Thanks Linda, I do have Ohana and Boma on my list. Boma is my favorite restaurant!

I am torn between LTT and Concourse Steak House in Contemporary. I like having an appetizer with my meal, but the character interaction at LTT would be good too! We also have Chef Mickey's on our list for a character dining. Decisions, decisions!

Well you seem to be the expert!!!! Or as someone mentioned already the "test" family. I have read some of the responses to your post and I wanted to know of you used the plan for Charactrer meals??? Was there a problem using them or making a PS.

We are going in Sep.. was there last Sep and I know that this is a money saver. Especially if you book Character meals. We figure maybe one per day that alone pays for the package.

Any info would help and thanks again for all of your hard work. :wizard:
