Just returned yesterday from 9 days at the Swan. Weather was in the 90's and sunny ALL week!! Just beautiful! We got our room on Hotwire for 81.00 a night and it was just glorious!! Epcot resorts are our favorite locations! Crowds really started picking up the last few days. We were there May 9th thru the 17th. If you have any questions fire away!!

Sounds like you had a great vacation. We have reservations at the Swan and the Yacht Club at the end of June (Obviously, we will have to make a decision soon.) We have stayed at the Beach Club in the past, so I am familiar with the area. The room at the Swan (Balcony Resort View) is $100 per day cheaper than the room at the Yacht Club (Wateview) and from what I've been reading on these boards, I think I would be very happy with the Swan. Our son is 16, so I don't need as much "magic" as when he was younger. Was your room nice? How big was it? I know they have all be renovated, so that is a plus.

Did you enjoy the pool area? I know that SAB at the YC is very nice, but I think it will be quite busy at the end of June. I don't want to fight for a lounge chair.

I appreciate any info.

Hi,
We've stayed at the YC also. For the price difference I would certainly go for the Swan. It's funny you mention fighting for pool chairs. When we were at the YC that was all we did!!! Every day it became a huge task for my husband and I to just find ONE chair. We have 2 children that we never bother to get chairs for. They are always in the water. Now, when we were at the Swan there wasn't one single day that we didn't get chairs!!! It was wonderful. The pool was NOT crowded by any means. We sat in front of the waterfall the entire trip and we're at the pool at least 4 hours out of everyday.
As for the rooms.....I'm quite sure they are very compareable in size. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us.
Transportation was wonderful too!! Really didn't wait more than 5 minutes for a bus and rarely even had to wait at all!! Buses are shared with Swan, Dolphin and Boardwalk in that order. Your always first on and first off at the Swan.
Our kids are young....9 and 4 and there was no magic lacking here. I think you make your own.
If I can help any more just let me know.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention the beds!! They are the MOST comfortable beds we've ever been on. Believe me, I tried to stay awake a couple of nights and the moment you lay on one you just fall right asleep. The are just wonderful!!!

Sounds like a great time! We have secured that same hotwire rate of $81.00 for 3 nights in late October. We have a 3 and 1 yr old. My question is did you have a hard time with room requests. I called last week and had on our reservation that we are requesting non smoking and 2 queen beds.. However, I believe that if you are booking through hotwire you are really only guaranteed a room for 2 with a non smoking request put in.. Therefore you might end up in a room with one KING bed.. How was your experience in general with your room requests? Were you made to feel any different at any time during your trip because you had gone through hotwire to get your room? Thanks in advance!!

Mickeyx2: Thanks for your reply. I'm so glad you said you have stayed at the YC - that makes me feel better about going with the Swan. Since you have stayed at both, you can make a real comparison. We can do quite a bit with the extra $400!!

We are renting a car, so transportation is not an issue for us.

Can't wait to try those beds.

Thanks, again!

Hi,
As for the Hotwire rate.....As soon as I received the rate I called the Swan directly and asked for 2 queen beds and had it noted on the ressie that we were a family of 4. I also requested connecting rooms with another family that we were traveling with. I called again 4 days before arrival to make sure they noted that there were 4 of us. All of our requests were met. We were also given a water view so we could see both the Boardwalk and MGM. We did not request that though. They did let us know at check in that we had a Hotwire rate. I think they just felt as if they had to throw that in!!! No big deal though. We were not treated any differently though! It's a wonderful rate, one we probably won't see again!! Have fun!!

Can you tell me how you might know you are getting the swan/dolphin on hotwire. As usual the search isn't working so I need your help. Thanks

Shelly,
Make sure you put in Lake Buena Vista.....it HAS to show:
4 Stars-Resort (R) Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center, Gold Course Nearby, Tennis Court Nearby, Spa Services, Laundry Facilities - Note - Laundry Icon does NOTshow on intial listing. You must click View Hotel's Ammenities next to the icons to view it. This must ALL be there for it to be the Swan.

There is no lake buena vista option only WDW area.

Shelly,
Just noticed that myself......I've been gone for 11 days so I hadn't looked at it in awhile. I don't know why the Lake Buena Vista area is now gone. Try posting a seperate topic on the boards....there is a wonderful gentleman who helped me out when I did this. I'm sure if he sees a Hotwire question he'll help out. I'm sorry, I did forget his screen name. Someone on here I'm sure will know what happened to it.

Hotwire removed the Lake Buena Vista from their Orlando list. Evediently people had figured out how to "work" hotwire and they have made it more complicated.

Mickeyx2: I just noticed you live in Michigan - me too - Sterling Heights.

Well, we booked the Dolphin for Jun 4-8. Really wish I had done the Swan instead. I wonder if it's too late to switch...

We have the Swan booked from the 23rd to the 28th of June. This will be our first visit to the Swan. I have paid for club level for my family even though I could have gotten the teacher discount. What is the highest floor I can get with the best view? wings? I would like to be "downgraded" so we can have a balcony. hmmmmm, I think I want to be downgraded! (I know that club level has no balconies).

Any opinions? I don't want anything for free or by luck, which is why I booked club level originally. I know my two kids will love being able to have breakfast before we're all ready to leave for the day.

#1 Hockeymom - We were just at the SWAN as well.
I had read before we went, that the club was the first upgrade, then the balcony. Not necessarily so.
We are SPG Gold, which entitiles us to a upgrade (BTW we were on the $69 priceline deal) as explained to us at checkin. I was hoping for Club level - not balcony. Of course, the CM said, "I've got a nice balcony room for you" This was nice that we were actually upgraded, but we didn't care for balcony and would rather have club. She explained that they no longer upgrade to club ( ) because of all the requests - so balcony. We also asked for a corner king and the CM wouldn't even entertain the idea of looking. IMO it really really depends on the CM checking you in!
If I were you I'd try to call the SWAN a few days prior and have them note on your res that even though you've paid for Club you would rather have balcony (if that is what you decide to do).
However, after our experience (and I'm not complaining at all!) I think (to quote Tom Hanks in Forest Gump) "Checkin is like a box of chocolates.....you never know what you are going to get"
Good luck with your balcony :D

We're just back from the Swan also. I had booked club level and when arrived I requested 4:00 checkout. They were not able to give it to us for the room we were assigned, so we were moved to the sixth floor-balcony/Epcot view. Club & balcony-perfect!!

You might want to read the swan/dolphin tip and hints. But you can have a blacony and use the club lounge you just would not be on the club floor. lots of folks do this. Just make your request at check in.

Thank you for all of your replies. I know we will enjoy our vacation, (if it ever gets here! :))
