Just Back from the Grand Floridian *UPDATE* Picture Link Added

You could get a picture of the castle for your room at the YC!;) By the way, what were your impressions of the BWI?

I really liked the BWI. Got a few nice pictures of the outside of it (they are somewhere between all the other pictures, LOL!).

Nice thought about the castle picture --- I took a bunch! (just like the BWI pictures, they are somewhere between all the other pictures! LOL)

I wanna go back NOW!!! ;)

We were at the GF from 6/23-7/2 so we just missed you. We had a beautiful room in the Boca Chica building.this was our first trip to WDW and obviously our first stay at the GF. We couldn't have been more thrilled. Dh and I and DD's 9 and 4 and Ds 7 had nothing but positive things. Everyone we met was wonderful and our room was in great shape. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties that you had. We had a chance to visit a couple of the other resorts and saw nothing that we liked as much as the GF. Although we didn't get to the YC/BC we heard lots of great things about both from people we talked to both at the GF and in the parks. Now that we have been, both Dh and I have no doubt that we will be back to Disney ,the kids are already planning. Nancy

Glad you had a good trip, Cali! I can't believe that Royal Palm guy! Some people are such jerks.

I'm putting up some of the pictures I took. Most are of the Grand Floridian, but I'll try to get some other put up as well!

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with your room condition and the jerk from RPC. I am glad you didn't let it spoil your vacation. Thank you for the link to your pictures. I especially liked your ones of the Tower Club at CR. The refridgerator pic was great. It was good to see the size and where they placed it in the room. Your view of the castle was spectacular. Keeping my fingers crossed for the same view.;) .

I still can't believe what happened to you at Epcot. I'm glad your were not more seriously hurt. I'm also happy to read despite what happened that you're ready to return.:D

Thanks again for the pics and WELCOME BACK!:Pinkbounc

We will be at the GF in 30 more days. We are staying RPC does this mean I can act pompous too? (being sarcastic) And get my car parked first, it is a ford explorer after all.

Glad to have you back!

Glad to have you back!

My Cadillac was far nicer than that Ford Explorer. Ahh, that guy didn't know who he was dealing with. When he said the "I'm staying in the Royal Palm Club" I felt like saying to him "I never would have guessed from looking at you." :D ;) I could never be a Disney CM! LOL

Having recently stayed at the RPC, I cannot believe that you are considering driving a Ford to the GF;) Only imports for RPC guests!;) On the other hand it is also acceptable to have a limo with a driver.

On a serious note, have a great stay at the RPC! I do not know what type of room you requested, but we LOVED our deluxe room!

It's the Eddie Bauer edition, does that count?

Doesn't make a difference to me. Now, if you pulled up in a Bentley or Rolls Royce, I could understand your vehicle being parked before my Cadillac Seville.

Cali-D....Thank you for the detailed report from your stay at the GF.Your experience with the condition of the room made me feel sick in the stomach....you seem to put your heart and soul into sharing the grand beauty of the GF ! After reading your GF pages and with some help and suggestions from you a few weeks ago, my best friend and I are staying a the GF for 4 nights prior to moving over to the BWI {our very favorite resort}.Our big trip is not until 2004 but will be well worth the wait. Did you spend much time around the Boardwalk area? The Inn is very beautiful in a very similar way the the GF but in a smaller and more charming scale. You also get the wonderful asset of being able to do sooo many things right from your hotel area.I know many people prefer the YC/BC side but for us the Boardwalk area has the best of all worlds...lots of stuff to do, great restaurants {Flying Fish is awesome}clubs, walk to 2 parks and then the more relaxed and quiet beauty of the inner courtyard and pool on the Inn side. Thank you again for all the sharing you do about the GF...it is much appreciated!!

We spent an evening at the BWI and BC, really liked both! I can't wait to try them! I was thinking about staying at the YC or BC since they'll be newly renovated. I do prefer the way the BWI looks from the outside, though. :) I guess I'll have to make the decision when the time comes!

If you like how the BWI looks from the outside, BC?YC is the perfect place to stay. You geta view of the outside of the BWI :)

I would like an upper floor unobstructed water view room(s) where ever I do choose to stay in the Epcot Resort Area!

I just wanted to add a little note for anyone who this may affect. On a couple days, in the afternoon, out by the valet desk was a little podium that said "Concierge Check-in" on it, and a concierge was standing there with a list of all the arriving concierge guests. I think they did this just the days there were a lot of concierge check-ins, because I didn't see it every day. I also noticed concierges going out to the valet area to escort guests either to the Royal Palm Club or Sugar Loaf. So, they do now have the "meet and greet".

:)

We're going to be at the GF in 10 days and it would be so exciting for the kids to be "met" in the valet area. Speaking of valet, did you use this service? I seem to remember in the past that you could have it charged to your room during your stay. Do you know what the current rate is? And also, if you're paying for concierge at one disney hotel, does it still entitle you to valet parking at the others? We like to park at BW when we visit Epcot. The international gateway always seems a bit quieter and checking out the nightly activities on the boardwalk is alot of fun after Epcot's closing. Before you give me the info on valet, I will be happy to take the RPC oath ~ "I promise not to turn into a pompous windbag and demand that my car be taken before anyone elses" ;)

;)

Yes, we used valet everywhere we went. It was $6/day. They charged it to our room. We gave $2 everytime they took or brought the car (yes, people say you should only tip when they bring the car, but it's just our preference to reward everyone who does a service). Once you get your parking pass for the day, you can valet everywhere but Downtown Disney free of charge. Concierge guests are still required to pay for valet if they use the service.
