Just Back from the EB Transatlantic 4/10

Hi! For all those curious about the Eastbound Transatlantic Repo trip I wanted to share some info and fun. We had a wonderful sailing with mostly calm seas and mild weather. Ready for some fun?

Here is a LINK to the 2 week overview we were given at the beginning of the trip (PDF).

At Castaway Cay, my DH and I had a great time testing out Pelican Plunge! We both tried the "slow slide" (TWICE!) and found that it was anything but slow if you lay down flat as directed by signage.

We took a TON of Photos, some of which I will post later, but now I have video!

See the fireworks in Barcelona displayed in honor of the Magic returning to the Med HERE.

Slightly less spectacular, HERE is a video of the Pirates IN the Caribbean fireworks.

I hope you enjoy these tidbits. I am happy to answer to any questions you might have about this sailing. I will post more photos once I sort through the 2400 or so we took!

I sure hope they have fireworks like that when we bring the Magic home.

During an pre-dinner reception with the officers I was told by one that there were only 1900 folks on board, 400 being kids. There were certainly times when the ship felt half-empty, which was Wonderful!

Just to follow up on this, our head server told us that there were about as
many adult on the cruise as normal; the big difference in terms of numbers was the children. The ship holds about 2,700 passengers, and most of the difference between that and the 1900 passengers were less kids.

Which, by the way, worked out fine for our DD7 and DD5. There were plenty of children for them to play with, they quickly made friends with a number of kids, and the Mickey and Goofy pools were not overcrowded. The Friendship Rocks show at the end of the cruise felt kind of like a school assembly since by the end of 14 nights we either knew who many of the kids were or at leadt recognized them from around the ship.

Hey folks!...I was posting in the "live" one earlier.... nice to see we have a we are back forum. I LOVED sea days....I could have used a few more myself. I actually got to the gym (and worked out too) every sea day! ....I went 10 out of 14 days....(I also never missed dinner and dessert:thumbsup2)
It was nice to be able to attend some of the workshops, movies, BINGOs and activities that I normally may have not ....Palo Brunch with some cool people and alone too! ...I could do an all sea day cruise and be perfectly happy.

On the other thread I also posted a list ...and some others there contirubuted ...here is its:

10 ways you know you just got back from a Disney cruise

1. You try to put the toilet lid down before flushing ....even if there's none.
2. As you enter a restaurant you stop to look for the guy with the antibacterial wipes
3. At midnight you wake up and attempt to call room service for a giant chocolate chip cookie
4. You can't sleep in your own bed because the bed (and room) isn't moving.
5. When you open your bedroom door, you look for a towel animal
6. You look for little chocolate on your pillows, and a Daily Navigator on your bed
7. You look at your bed, and wonder why nobody has "turned down" the bed yet
8. You swipe your credit card, in order to open your bedroom door
9. You ask a stranger (neighbor) for fresh towels
10. You call the operator for a wake-up call
11. You toss your bath towel in the tub, and are confused why it's still there when you come home.
12. Your neighbors wonder what all those decorations on your front door mean.
13. You go to sing (or hum) the tune over your headboard, and there aren't any lyrics there.
14. You keep waiting for the walls in your dining room to change color.
15. At noon, you pause to hear (tune) When you wish up-on a star . . .
but it never comes!
16. You wonder why you haven't been announced as you enter your house "Disney Wonder is pleased to welcome the ...... Family

I am still walking around in a "just landed" daze....
It was a wonderful cruise....I loved everyday, all of the staff, activities etc...and my son loved the stack too.

I'd love to do another repo at some point...I just have to see how high school is for my son (next year) and what their policy is on two weeks out of school. ...we ARE booked for a B2B Dream Cruise next summer....and I am considering a suprise birthday 3 day for my son this November.... no.... I am not addicted:rotfl::rotfl:

I do have to say that this was my first cruise using the Disboards and meeting the dis people.... It was great!...without Dissers I would not have gotten enough guts to do kareoke, I LOVED my secret mickey, there was always a crew to sit with at Rocking Bar D.... it was great! So glad to meet all of you!:grouphug:

Wow - what fantastic surprises you all received! :lovestruc

Mrs Gumdrop - Your tiara looks fabulous! princess:

Did you make your own masks or were they provided to you? Very nice.

They ran two different opportunities to make masks. Two different paper masks were provided along with markers, sequins, feathers and other materials. It was a lot of fun to make and it was great to see everyone's creativity.

I am posting on both threads in case different people are reading:

Did anyone get a picture in Madeira of the Santa Maria on its way out for a dophin excursion with the MAGIC in the background?

I would LOVE to have that but was not in Funchal at the right time.

Thanks in advance!
Jan

Did anyone get a Castaway Club gift? Was it any different to the normal one? I only ask as on the 2007 TA's & Meds they gave Castaway members a document holder rather than the usual bag!

We did receive our first Silver CC gift. As far as I know it was the stand gift that they have been giving recently. A shoulder drawstring bag with 2 water bottles, a silver key chain and 2 rice crispy treats. The bag was very handy on Castaway Cay!

Here is a not very helpful picture:

Great thanks! Was hoping this might be the case as it means I don't need to pack water bottles or a beach bag for Castaway! The document holder was good but didn't take anything to put drink in on excursions as assumed we'd get the normal gift on the 2007 EBTA.

Hi everyone, glad to see some of my new DIS friends posting here. DVC members also received a box - it was just wood and contained 2 DVC lanyards and a card for a limited DVC pin.

I think someone asked about sea days two pages ago, I found I had to make time to sit and do nothing, there was so much going on.

Joyious24 - love your list, so true. I miss the rocking of the ship.

Hi all. Does anyone have the menus they can scan please?
