Just Back from the EB Transatlantic 4/10

Marilyn, you will see many menu items from the '08 WBPC, they kept or re-invented the good stuff. :thumbsup2

Just remember, that steak on the first night is still bad....:sad2: But you are safe from then on!

I ate lots of beef this cruise, Pam ate shrimp, scallops and lobster in every variation it was offered. Lamb is good when it is 'chops', didn't care for any of the other cuts.

And they do still put crack in the Pluto's chicken strips...addictive!

.

Thanks Jackie. Neither of us are into seafood, so some of the menus didn't appeal. I did like the chicken strips I have to agree. We also enjoyed a couple of dinners up at Topsiders, so might do that if a menu looks less than appealing!!!:thumbsup2

ok did anyone take an actual taxi to the airport from the ship? If so what was the cost? We get to the airport on the morning we sail and not sure if we will do disney transport (unless we do not have to claim our bags?) that morning.

I love reading all the info. I just booked the cruise after a cancellation several months ago and I am getting excited again!!!!! Thank you for all the info. Did they make you kiss the fish when you crossed the hemispheres or don't they do that anymore? The Villian menu was amazing and thanks for sharing!!!:worship::worship:

Great thread everyone!

Does anyone know what kind of upgrade availabilities there were on embarkation day? Were any available?

Hi everyone, glad to see some of my new DIS friends posting here. DVC members also received a box - it was just wood and contained 2 DVC lanyards and a card for a limited DVC pin.

I think someone asked about sea days two pages ago, I found I had to make time to sit and do nothing, there was so much going on.

Joyious24 - love your list, so true. I miss the rocking of the ship.

Do you have any photos of the box you received?

Yes, there were upgrades available.

At one point they did come down the line and let us know that all the verandahs were gone, so those of us going from inside to oceanviews stayed in line and snatched up thosse!

Our cat 11 to cat 9 upgrade was ONLY $330.

Hi, Ros, welcome back as well.
Deb & I went back to the Barcelona airport lounge, but you must have been driven out by the heat as well. Hope your flights went ok. It was a clear day, so flying over the French, Italian, and Swiss Alps was a treat!

Hi all. Does anyone have the menus they can scan please?

We do have a bunch of them, but I need to bring them someplace to get them scanned (too large for our scanner at home).

That is so funny because we thought the exact same thing about the steak on the first night. It was terrible! We commented on it when a manager was circulating a few days later asking for feedback about the new menus. He said that they had received tons of comments about how tough it was and they were using more tenderizer. Our server kept bringing it up and apologizing....he even commented on it on the last day.

Honestly, there were so many other good things that it didn't matter. I just think it is interesting how universally bad that first night of steak was!

they were great gifts! Just wished the box would have been given at the beginning and not the end as it was hard to find a place in the suitcase to put it (I did though) - there was even one cabin that put it outside for "trash" as she did not have room - someone on the Disboards asked her about it and she told her she could have it as she did not have room - so one diser got more than one!

Krisann

I used mine to put the shotglass I bought into it as well as one or two other very small things. Best container to bring them home in - so room wasn't an issue for me. Wish one of my neighbors gave me theirs.

I agree, when I looked out my window - it was so cool to see the mountain tops many with snow on top.

Quick Question - were there any Deck 9 barbeques for lunch or afternoon chocolate fountains? We had those in '07 and my daughter loved them. She wanted to know if you guys had any fun lunch parties? Thank you!

No, and that really suprised me. On the WBPC we had a BBQ and a food/deck party for CC members (but really the whole ship).

Well that is a disappointment. On the TA in '07, we had two deck parties and the second one they had music, face painting, games, crafts for the kids - it was tons of fun!!! One day we had a buffet in Topsiders and the dessert was the chocolate fountain. People were bringing it to the pool with great big strawberries, cheesecake - it was yummy! Okay, now I am starving!! Were the lunch buffets themed?? American, Italian, Mexican, etc. I didn't see any Navigators that is why I am asking so if it has been addressed I apologize. Also, ibouncetoo, you are not going on the WB in September anymore?

Nope, had to cancle the WBTA due to work (can't take time off due to political advertising...very, very busy). Switched to the WBPC for '11 BUT THEN....my pal Monica called with a deal for the WBTA and we moved to that one.

I don't think the Navigators even said what the Topsiders lunch theme was. I had to go by and check the days I was considering eating there. There were the ones you mentioned and a seafood one and a sushi one (may have been the same day).

Perhaps others will come in with more info on that.
