We had a great stay at the BC 7/24 -- 7/31....just got back today.

We LOVED it. Everything was perfect from check-in to check-out with the exception of one rude lifeguard. I plan on writing a trip report for our 7 day trip so stay tuned for more info, including the deal with Dave the rude lifeguard. He was a real winner. If anyone has any BC questions - just ask. We were nervous because we ended up with a Sico room and I had no idea what to expect...turned out we loved it because you get quite a bit of "living" area. Our room was 4590 facing the woods towards Epcot. Nice and quiet and a full balcony.

Stormalong Bay was great, BUT one must be there no later than 10:30 or 11:00 or you will not get a chair. People were putting towels on the chairs and dissappearng for hours on end. We were there 3 1/2 hours Monday a.m. and there were 4 chairs with towels...no people! The water was a perfect temp. Very refreshing.

Mousekeeping was excellent - quite often she was cleaning the room by 10:00 a.m. Never a problem at all with the cleanliness of the resort. Love the new H20 soaps, lotions and shampoos.

Crowds were, well CROWDED. Lots of Brazilians, but they were well behaved for the most part. I think their mission was to follow us around.

Ate at Artist Point, Brown Derby, Plaza Restaurant, Kona Cafe, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Il Mulino, Beaches and Cream. Food was great except Yachtsman Steakhouse. YUK. Again, trip report to come.

We, well at least I, cried on our last walk down the hall to our room. We use to call the BC our fave, then we stayed at the Poly and deemed it our fave, now I'm thinking the BC has stolen our hearts again. My DH was so upset he said outloud going down the hall, "I'm not leaving and they can't make me."

Saw a banner that a DISer had thrown over the balcony at the Swan - it said "The DIS - tuffcookie." Met a DISer at stormalong bay...her name was shortstuff...and some numbers. I can't remember the exact name.

Bring on the questions.

Glad you had a great time there, we did too at the beginning of the month.

On the chauirs we could always find two together around 2pm or 3pm, just around closer to the kiddie pool but hey it works!

It is a wonderful hotel!

Glad you had a nice time, I am thinking about making the BC our next dinsey resort choice (next july) so I'll keep a look out for your trip report.

A question about SAB, lots of people said it closes early around 10 in the summer, did you ever use SAB at night and notice what time it closed? That's one of the things that has me second guessing the BC because if we end up going to the parks and wanting to swim when we get back late, the only option will be the smaller pool which might well be crowded if others have the same idea.

It closed while we were there at 10pm (july 6th-13th)

the smaller pools never seemed crowded afetr then anyway.

I think some resorts the pools close even earlier, you have to ask about all the other resorts tho.

I thought you were staying at the Poly....or is that another trip? lol

So SAB...no chairs after 11 am...this may be tough..our arrival day is one of our resort days! I can see saving a chair or two....but not returning....Samantha Brown even made a funny comment abt this on the Great Hotels episode!! lol

Glad you had a great time!! Cant wait to hear more....did you see the campfire/movies on the beach thing I read abt on another thread??

Glad you had a great trip...

Looking forward to the full report...
Happy that the pool is refreshing....I was worried with the heat
it would feel like a hot bath....

Did you notice what time the pool opens and
what time did the pool bar close?
Was Il mulino good.....or just very overpriced?
Thanks
Kerri

Glad you had a great trip Pam, We're due at the BCV's 11/6. Only 98 more days.

glad you had a good time! its one of our favorite resorts too:) i agree it is very hard to leave :headache:

I'm glad the Sico room worked out for you.

Everytime I leave I think a piece of me stays behind.

Hi Pam, welcome back! We were at WDW the same time as you, just got back early yesterday morning. I'm glad you had such a great time!! :)

We met several DISers too.... What a great group of people! :grouphug:

I can totally relate to your experience on this trip; DH and I felt the same exact way, except in regards to the Polynesian resort. In fact, next May we'll be going back and taking DSs on that trip, and also his elderly Aunt, and we were going to give her the option of choosing which resort. However, after this trip, her choices will be: Polynesian garden view, Polynesian concierge garden view, or Polynesian concierge lagoon view. :lmao:

I would like to try an Epcot resort some day though! :)

It wasn't like a hot bath at all. We stayed there in 2005 during July 4th week and it was indeed like a hot bath so I know what you're talking about. However, I must say that one reason this may have been the case is because it wasn't as hot this trip...it was quite nice actually!

the pool opened at 9:00. Not sure about the pool bar. Il Mulino was EXCELLENT!!! And, no, not overpriced at all. I had pizza and DH had pasta and seafood dish. Service was top notch. I highly recommend this place.

I'll try to answer everyone's questions.

Hey there. We were going to stay at the Poly but I couldn't resist the AP rate of $194 so we switched. The chairs were a problem, but what we did was go early enough so we wouldn't get frustrated which worked out great because there were storms in the afternoon anyway. We got there around 9:30 or 10:00 when we did go to the pool and got great chairs and enjoyed the sunshine...before the clouds started rolling in.

The movies are so cool - we saw a little of Toy Story one night.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I think it does close at 10:00. The smaller pools didn't look all that crowded late at night.

Pam....great rate...yeah for you! Although I dont have an AP..I cancelled the free dining at WL when that new code came out and switched to YC! Yeah we are paying for dining, but the room discount was too good!
Was this your first stay here?
I always get swayed by the Poly...but gotta try something new!

I've never seen the quiet pools extremely busy. There are three of them at the YC/BC complex. There's one at the far end of the YC, there is one at BC at the end near Epcot, and there is one at BCV that faces toward the parking lot (view filtered by trees and landscaping). So it's not like everyone that would go to Stormalong Bay would go to the same quiet pool.

I really like the BC, in fact, the whole Epcot resorts area. There's always something going on and something to do, even if you don't go to the parks. I just wish they had more CS dining options there without having to walk over to Epcot.

Here is what might seem like a silly question. We will be at the YC for 4 nights starting next Thursday. We plan on using the pool at midday times. If there are no chairs, are there any spots where you can stash towel/ID/flipflops? Can you just put them on the concrete by a rock or something, as long as they aren't in the walkways? We aren't just going to turn around and go to the room because we can't find a chair, but we have to take our IDs at least to get into SAB.
(yes I know about the quiet pools, but this is our first YC/BC stay and I booked it for SAB).

In our experience we have always found a chair, but it may not be in the most desirable area. When we come back from the parks we take what we get - but most times there are people leaving just when we are coming.

I did notice sooo many lounge chairs and tables taken early in the morning by people who didn't ever come back to them in the 3 or 4 hours that we were there. After a couple of hours one day I just moved the towels and put our things on them. We left two hours after that and no one had still come back. There were no personal items on the chaise lounge, just some pool towels.

So glad you enjoyed your stay there. Our first stay at the BC was in 2003 and a few months later we joined DVC because we fell in love with that resort. ;) Thanks for posting. We will be there in less than 2 weeks!!:cool1:

Rock'nRobin: I wish I could suggest a particular area where you could put shoes, ids, towels etc. but unfortunately I can not think of any. However, I remember one time we went to the pool after 12:00 and the three of us separated looking for just one lounge to just do what you suggested, just put our stuff down and after about 10 minutes we did find one lounge free. I guess my point is def. go to SAB. I understand you not wanting to settle for the quiet pool. SAB is what it all about at YC/BC(BCV) as far as I am concerned. Do not give up you will find someplace to put your stuff. ENJOY your first stay!! I think you will LOVE it! :)

So glad to hear you had a great time! ...we are headed there for the first time is 18 days!:woohoo: Can't wait! I have a ton of questions, but most seem to escape me...eagarly waiting for your TR.

Oh! Did you go to BC Marketplace? How were the lines in the am? Thinking about grabbing a hot breakfast sandwich on the way out in the am, but need to get my timing right.

Do you recall the BCM hours? Do remember how late they were open? Thinking late night gelato snacks sound pretty tasty.

Does the Marketplace have the Entemann's (sp?) donut boxes for a snack credit?

What's the lazy river like? (I've never been to the water parks either, so please don't use that to compare.:goodvibes) How big are the inner tubes that they rent?

TIA!:flower3:
