I just got back from our 3rd trip to SSR. I am in love with this resort but I have to say, our room was disgusting and just plain ole beat up. There were chips in the tile around the tub, the stain on the arm of the chair by the sliding door was coming off, it just was in really rough shape. On top of that, it was filthy. The floors were dirty, there was dirt caked up in the corners of the room, there was a chocolate milk stain running down the wall by the table, dust and grime was caked most everywhere that collects dust. I was so surprised because the last 2 times we have stayed there it was really clean and in great shape. And we stayed in Congress Park everytime.

It did not ruin our vacation by any means, it was just one of those things that made you kind of feel like you were not in a DVC place.

I am sorry to hear about the room. Did you contact the management and show them the mess? I am checking in there tomorrow.

No, I am not really the type. I just cleaned it myself and went on with my vacation.

I don't mind picking up something that didn't get vacuumed, or wiping down the odd counter but this sounds like the room was never serviced! I would have requested an immediate clean after showing management some photos.

Not Acceptable in my book.

I am glad that you had a nice time. The room's condition is not something we should tolerate!

Congress Park and the Springs are probably close to needing some rehab soon. They have been opened the longest and thus, have had the most usage.

If we don't let DVC/housekeeping/whoever, know what is wrong, they can't fix it. If there is a true problem, please, please, let someone know. If there are housekeepers slacking off, maintenance issues that need attention, they won't be taken care of if we don't tell them. Complaining here won't fix anything there.

I agree. Please next time let someone know. It helps everyone. No one should have to accept a room in that condition.

I'm so sorry to hear about your stay. I really hope that you reported it to management or somebody who can remedy it. This is intolerable and I hope you paved the way to not allow this kind of service in the future!!!

Wishing you much pixie sust on future trips!

OP...maybe you can mail a letter now with your room number explaining how you don't like to complain...but that you realize they can't fix it if they don't know about it.

Glad it didn't ruin your trip:goodvibes

You don't need to be any particular "type" to get obvious problems resolved. "Hello...my room is disgusting...please come clean it properly...thank you!"

That's not a complaint and there doesn't need to be anything confrontational about it.

Yes, if people dont let them know, they cant check into it. You dont need to complain, just let them know.

We just bought DVC and used some dev points to stay at SSR, and I was amazed at them! The room I was in, 3630 in The Springs, was awesome! I'll admit that I think I heard more noise in these 'deluxe' resort then I ever have in a value or moderate. That was a little disappointing.

This is exactly what I'm afraid will happen when we're meeting relatives at SSR on 1/2/09. I've booked four studios(DH and I, my two adult sons, my cousin and his wife, cousin's daughter and her husband). We arrive mid afternoon on the 2nd, the cousins don't arrive at MCO until shortly after midnight. I'm seriously considering changing the names on the rooms (one each to DH, myself and each of our sons) just so we can make sure the rooms are OK. I would be very embarrassed if they arrive after midnight and their rooms are dirty, especially after we've raved about DVC for several years to them!!! If I change the names I can just list each of them with one of us in each room and we'll just meet them at the security gate to SSR instead of having them go to check-in. Has anyone done this in the past?

I'm in a 2br at CP right now and it is immaculate. I've never had a really questionable room in 6 DVC trips(SSR,BCV,VWL and VB).

And I certainly would call Housekeeping if I found a problem, not just clean it up myself. If we as owners don't let the supervisors know, how do they fix the problem? I don't think they read these boards to figure it out.

By the way the bus service has been the best I've had. Longest wait 18 minutes. We'll see how it progresses through Turkey week.

I will write them a letter and explain to them what happened and give them the room number.

It is certainly not something I worry about in the future for SSR. It was something I just figure is a fluke.

I think that's a great idea though. With our member's notifying DVC it WONT be something that happens in the future and it will remain a fluke. THanks for doing this!

I think that is totally unacceptable....You were much too kind...I would not have accepted a room in that poor condition.

Housekeeping certainly was "off" on this one....Hope that DVC can "do something" for you in return for your trouble...

Good Luck!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Sorry but have to ask this, if you were not willing to let management know about this and get it fixed, why share it here. :confused3

If everyone ignores these types of problems, everyone that follows after them is going to find a room like yours.

Please, please report problems and unclean rooms.

I think you have a good idea. Murphy's Law almost guarantees that one of the rooms will have an issue. We took my sisters on our first WDW DVCtrip. In hindsight, it was the worst room that we've had thus far. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't at all pristine. Plus, I know they would have never said anything to me if they had seen a hair in the shower, etc., but I will always wonder what they really thought.

It may be the martyr in me, or in the thought that I want everyone to be impressed, but I would check all of the rooms out and take the worst one for myself. Be warned though, I think my sisters would assume that I took the best room, not the worst. You may also want to think about issues concerning the dining plan, charging to the room, etc.

Overall, don't be alarmed. There have been very few threads regarding the cleanliness of SSR. However, housekeeping does tend to be the achilles heel for all of DVC.
