Just back from POR & have questions

We stayed in May and had the same problems. Had to stand on long lines to checkin, checkout (discrepency on bill), and to ask concierge type question. The original checkin was about 45-60 minutes.
It makes me shake in my boots to think that our next trip in Dec. is at POP I bet that will be a long check in as well.

Checking in early is often preferable to checking in later!!! Sure, you might not get your room, but the lines are not nearly as long. And the earlier it is, sometimes the more pleasant people are.
I will say that until you have checked out of a resort that was almost completely full, with most of those people trying to leave at the same time..well, you just haven't lived!!! When we left POR on June 26, it seems that all the Pampered Chef people there were leaving at the same time!!! Man, it was crazy!!! The pool guy that came for our luggage that morning was frazzled. He said he had been working since 3 a.m.!!! But, he had a great attitude. Evidently Pampered Chef was having some kind of reward convention trip the same time we were there. I couldn't figure out why I kept seeing all these PC teeshirts everywhere. And a lot of those families were at POR!!! Housekeeping was most likely out straight trying to get all those rooms ready to turn over!!!!

But again, POR is one of my favorite resorts. It was my first WDW resort and I most likely expect to have the same experiences that I had back then in '99. But, that isn't going to happen. For the most part, my time at POR have been wonderful. Can't wait to stay there again!!

We were there during the Pampered Chef stay as well. We heard that 80% of the PC people were staying at POR. We always seemed to go to the same parks with them. One night as we left Epcot they all seemed to be leaving with us. It took over an hour to get on the bus back to the resort because of how many people there were. They had to call in extra buses to handle it.

I had a wonderful experience at POR. We arrived late, after midnight and the dtaff was incredible. One of the CM's took us to the employee break room and offered us to use the vending machines since the restaurant was closed and our flight was delayed at home for 2 hours.

We had a comfortable walk to everything and everyone was really nice. We had no problems checking out at all.

We are planning our next trip there today! :Pinkbounc

We stayed at POR in Feb 05 and we never had any problems with line ups. We arrived about 12 noon and I had only 3 people ahead of me and I hardly had to wait. Our room was ready and all my requests were granted. The only thing I asked was to be in building 27 and on the top floor. While I was in line the kids (3) sat and watched the movies on the tv and husband took a tour of the inside of the building. Now signing out was a different story. I waited a good 25 minutes in line and there was only 2 people helping us. Then a women had the nerve to butt in front and all of us starting yelling at her. She quickly got the hint and left. Would I go again? OH YES

I see you were there in february 05. We are going in February O6. Just wondering were you able to make use of the pools at that time of year?

Port Orleans seems to have trouble keeping up with things sometimes. Of course, it's huge and often crowded but still...

We really like it though and just overlook the quirks that we run into. I hate long lines at check-in though.

Yes we were able to use the pools. The pools were warm but getting out was a different story. The air at night is very cool, so bring a towel or robe to put on for the walk back to your room. The WDW pools are all 80 degrees in the winter.
