Just returned from 3 nights at POR and 6 nights at AKL. This was our 1st time at POR and although it was nice, I'm glad we split our time with the AKL.
We went with requests of a corner room and building #27, we received neither, we were in building #26. From reading these boards and looking at the map I thought we were in for a long walk back and forth, but it wasn't bad at all. The room did need to be redone.
We were very disappointed with the food court. Boatwrights was very good but they do not have a buffet like we thought.
We couldn't wait to get to AKL it was to be our 1st time there also. We had made resv. for a standard room and requested bunkbeds. At check-in we were told that we were upgraded to a pool view at no charge, but it did not have bunk beds. I was disappointed because with a 15yr DD and a 11yrDS, I really wanted them. So see told us to wait a minutes and she would go in back and see what she could do, she came back and said she was sorry, all that they had left was a bunkbed room in the savana & it was a smoking room (my DS is allergic to smoke) so she encourage me to take the pool view without bunkbeds or if I really wanted bunkbeds she would find me them with a standard view. I decided to take the pool view and deal with it.
After all that when we got to our room it had bunkbeds
Our room was on the 1st floor by the health club & we were close to everything.
Bomas was great and Maras too, the only disappointment with Maras is that they would run out of things (wraps, fruit, muffins etc.) in the evenings and they would close 1 of the pop dispensing machines leaving long lines to refill pop.
The weather was HOT!!!!!!! Not much of a wait time at any park,
AND my DH, DD & DS got on Mission Space (?) in Epcot.
