Having stayed at a couple other values (Music, Movies), I was happy to be trying out POP - and here's what I came back with.

POP is a nice resort, pretty clean (saw alot of trash in the bushes along the walkways - that wasn't so much fun) overall, bright, cheerful. Very friendly cast members.

Food court was a bit of a letdown after the All Stars. Definitely like their food courts better. Wasn't thrilled about the food court and the shop being connected, but we all know Disney likes to have us enter and exit through merchandise, right?;)

The memorabilia was cool - I'm a pop culture geek, so I liked that aspect, but in the end, I just didn't feel like I was in Disney very much when staying there. Something about it just feels disconnected to the rest of the World.

And the fact that we stayed in the 50's building, with a pretty good view of Armageddon (the Legendary Years) wasn't good either. I so wish they would demolish that mess or get moving and finish it. It looks so sad.

Bottom line. The price was good, the service was good - but it just doesn't have that magic like the other resorts IMHO.

But glad I tried it out.:thumbsup2

hi grinningghost,

we are leaving for POP tomorrow and i was just wondering if there was a hair dryer in the room...if so, then i won't need to pack mine...& what about a coffe maker?

thanks

Yes, blowdryers are there - and those little suckers are powerful!:thumbsup2

Silly question, but are there ice buckets in the room? We're not going to rent a fridge and need to keep my toddler's milk cold.

Yes, they do have ice buckets.

Are you being sarcastic? Those dryers were super weak! No power hardly at all. If you have thick hair or long hair it wil ltake FOREVER to dry. I had medium length hair and it isn't very thick and I would only do a fluff and give up. My DD was 2 and has very thin fine hair and it even took a long time to dry hers. I wil lbe taking my dryer next time!

This is why I ALWAYS bring my own hair dryer. The ones at POP took five minutes short of forever to dry my hair. :lmao: So now I never travel without my trusty 1875 watt hair dryer.

The blow dryer in my room last April at pop was very good and my hair is medium length and thick and my dd had long hair and super thick and it worked great. maybe they have not so good ones in your room. But ours worked.

It might be just what you are used to as well. I am a hair stylist, so I have a powerful one and can't stand regualr ones at all.

I found the hairdryer in my Pop room to be REALLY powerful and really good. I had brought my own and never bothered with it. I have really thick hair too.

I was at POP a week or so ago. Checked in on Jan 12 and then moved out to head to BWV on the 14th. I took my 31 y/o dd with me for her first trip to WDW. She fell in love with POP!! She absolutely loved it. And when my ds and dd-i-l drove over from Tampa for a quick visit, the dd-i-l said she was going to have her dd stay there for Night of Joy in Sept with her buddies. They all loved it there. We had some of the best housekeeping to date there. Everything was terrific. Well, I couldn't get my frozen Coke because the machine was broken but that's not a huge deal.
I do enjoy the food court, but do like the layout of the AllStars better. But, the bus system makes up for that I guess.
In fact, I think my dd was a little disappointed when she got to BWV. Perhaps I should have just hung out at POP instead.

It seems to me that people who stay at POP before ALLSTARS like POP better. And people who stay at ALLSTARS first like ALLSTARS better than POP. I am a POP girl. I think the theming of this resort is amazing and fun. It totally gives me the disney feeling. I love POP's food court. It is one of my favorites on all of disney's property(love POR too). I have stayed at Allstar's. I do not hate it, but I prefer POP. My sister stayed at ALLSTAR's first. When she stayed at POP for the first time she wasn't crazy about the layout or the food court. It is just funny that some people are just POP fans, and others are just ALLSTAR fans. You never really hear about people loving both.

Nope, no sarcasm on the hair dryers - it really shot out the hot air - I have shoulder length, semi-thick hair and it dried fast.:)
