Just back from Polynesian, any questions?

Which Building were you in? Were you bothered at all by the rehab construction? We are going in July 2003 and can't wait?

What restaurants did you try? Glad to hear you had a great time.

Julia

We stayed in "Figi" and I requested this long house because they just finished renovation and the location. We were upgraded to a beautiful lagoon/marina view just for asking at the desk!! It was a wonderful view, we could watch the electric light parade from the balcony at night, see sunrises in the morning and admire the lagoon/marina. We were on the 3rd floor. It was very quiet (of course it was October). We were just a quick walk to the ceremonial house (lobby & restaurants & monorail) and the pools. We ate dinner at Kona Cafe, out of convenience because we were too tired to go anywhere. Well the food was the best we had!! If you don't go for dinner at least have dessert, it's incredible!! It was about a 10 min walk to the TTC. The long houses closer to the TTC are quieter and probably a better choice if you are going to epcot alot.

We're going next month (at Thanksgiving)... I've read Tikiman's site and I'm leaning towards either Tokelau or Tahiti... at least that's what I'd like to request.... who know's if that's what we'll receive. My daughter wants a balcony, and as long as it's non=smoking that's all we really care about.

I'm looking forward to just stepping onto the monorail.. This may sound strange...does the Monorail go to the GF first or the Contemporary, then MK? We have reservations for T-day dinner at the Contemporary at 5:30 p.m. I'm planning on 1/2 hour, but just trying to get the route straight in my mind....

MonoRail leaves the Poly, goes to GF, then the MK, and finally the Contemp.
Enjoy!!!:)

Jeanny-

I've stayed in Tokelau and love it :) My personal favorite is Aerotea, though, for proximity to the beach and Great Ceremonial House.

and simply asked them to upgrade you when you checked in?

Did you request Fiji in advance?

Glad you had a great time. We're going in Dec and I can't wait!

Hi Angel1,
Yes we requested Fiji from CRO, but I needed to request again at check-in. I asked if it would be possible to upgrade to a water view, and they said "that would be $85". So I said well we'll just leave it as it is. and when we got to the room it was a water view! Off season could have helped. Have a great time, the pools are heated so you can enjoy swimming in Dec!

I was considering either Tokelau or Tahiti.......my question is was Tahiti too close to the TTC or did you find that it was quiet? I wanted to say in a longhouse that was not too close to the monorail, not too far from a pool, and not a noisy building. We don't mind walking around either if that helps. I'm trying to find a little peace and quite.

I've been told Tokelau was the way to go but I wanted to know your opinion about about Tahiti or both longhouses.

I checked the map. You will be fine with either longhouse. If you stay in Tokelau it will be noisier but you will be closer to the pools and ceremonial house. I you want quiet, request the farthest end of Tokelau (towards the beach), looks like you'll get a view! Avoid Rapa Nui, it is very close to the TTC. Tahiti looks great, one side facing the beach, very private. If you could get the logoon view at Tahiti, I would go for it! Don't forget to check for rehabs. Some buildings are newer and some have just finished rehab or will be in 2003.

I was of the understanding that Fiji are all Garden View rooms, its just that some have views of the lagoon and marina. Although your request was granted, I don't hink you were upgraded.

But, lets just keep that secret to ourselves. :D

Hi!

So what do the NEW rooms look like. How different are they than the old rooms? We are wanting to know.;) Did you get any pictures of the new rooms for tikiman?

Thanks, Wendi

How did you like the Volcano pool? I just saw a picture of it in USA Today and it looks great. Is it as nice as it looks? Was it very crowded?

In addition to pictures, I forgot to mention - Is there a lot of noise from across the marina at the pool. And, what room # did you have? Thanks!

Sorry we didn't take pics of the room:(
The room looked pretty much like the old rooms I believe. I think some furniture was new (chairs) and bedding and the bathrm had marble tile around the tub and floor, new? We didn't hear anything from the pool, of course it was off season. We had rm# 3320. The volcano pool is cool. It smokes from the top and has a slide inside (long waits). My DH said the slide was fast! There is a waterfall you can swim under. The pool was warm! not crowded. I loved the zero entry from the beach, and don't forget to have a drink from the pool bar!

For convenient access to the monorail, restaurants, and the pool, I'm thinking that the Niue longhouse or the Raratonga longhouse would be the best bet. Am I right?
