The room location was JUST AS I HOPED FOR and I faxed a request 3 days prior to our arrival. Works every single time...and we're going on 10 trips in 4 years!

The room was actually bigger than we expected. We were in Bldg. 2 room 2141..first floor...facing the pool...maybe 50 steps at most from the pool gate. Wonderful location. Mouskeeping was good the four nights.

The only bummer was upon check-in I had told the CM that my daughter would be celebrating her 7th bday on the 23rd. "Noted" she said. Then DH told them again and asked to have a card delivered that day the night before..again..."Noted" we were told. Upon returning to our room from the most amazing day of our life at Discovery Cove there was NO card or anything waiting for dd. DH got mad and he went and voiced his disappointment with the front desk cm's. He wasn't nasty...he just said he was disappointed and they said they had requested something be delivered that day but it wasn't. The next day there were a few balloons, card from Mickey and a Minnie and Daisy stuffed animals. It was a nice touch and we appreciated they cared about our displeasure.

I would stay there again for sure. It was quaint, beautiful and little. The food court looked like a tornado hit it most times, but other than that, the food was decent and not too expensive.

OH I am so excited. I only have 64 days to go and we will be at POFQ. We have never stayed there before. We are requesting bldg 4 so we can be close to the bus stop. Since bldg 2 used to be a smoking bldg could you still smell smoke or was it pretty fresh? We are non-smokers and worry about the smoking smell from bldg 4.

Glad to hear such good reviews so far about POFQ. We will be there in 36 days and counting. First time staying there although I've stayed, my disney hubby hasn't, in POR when it was named Dixie Landings. Super Excited to be staying at POFQ and looking forward to it now that i've heard such great reviews. Hope to get a good building although the room we paid for is a water view room so I dont know which buildings pertain to that type of view but as long as its peaceful and quiet my Disney Hubby and I will be very happy.:goodvibes

We'll be there in just a few days and I'm happy to hear how nice it is. Is this resort undersized? Does it offer just about everything that the other resorts offer?

Couple of Questions:

Can you normally request a card be delivered to your room? Were you expecting a card, balloons, etc to be delivered for free, or were you planning on paying for it? If you paid for this, I can see why your husband was mad. I'm sure lots of people are celebrating something every day. Like so many other people, we will be celebrating a birthday during our next trip. Can I request a card and balloons at check-in and pay for them?

Also what is the fax number for room requests for POFQ?

Thanks!

We have been staying in building 4 since 2001 and it has not been a smoking building. :)

Smoking was building 2 and third floor of building 6. Hope this helps! :)

We love POFQ! It offers everything the others have, with exception to a sit-down restaurant (RIP Bonfamille's). POR next door does have a sit-down in addition to its food court. FQ has a Great pool area, hot-tub and boat rides to downtown disney. It's small, but I wouldn't call it undersized.

Oh, it's got beignets too. A must have for a quick (but messy!) breakfast. YUM!

Oh thank goodness. I thought 2,4 and 6 were smoking. I really want bldg 4. Here's hoping.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

NO smoke smell whatsoever. Wonderful resort and the feeling at night is so neat. You can just stroll the "streets" with a cocktail in hand and soak up the atmosphere. Enjoy!

We've had things sent before and had no problems...as far as a card goes. It's been mentioned numerous times on these boards about how you can "request" a card be left in the room for the special person's special day. They did, however, have my cc info and I would have had no problem with paying for anything to make my dd feel special.

People are celebrating something every day and Disney used to recognize this as part of the "magic"....to which they are losing a bit of in the last few years.

Thanks for the review. Your daughter is beautiful! What a nice birthday gift afterall.

Thank you :flower3: ! It was a great birthday for her. I don't think she'll ever forget swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove..what a heart print that left!

Thanks so much for a quick update! We'll be there soon and are SO excited!! :woohoo:

Cannot wait to taste the beignets! My friend loves POFQ for the beignets!! :thumbsup2

Actually Disney does not provide free gifts for birthdays, think of the cost as millions of people celebrate. The OP was lucky they did it.

If you want to be sure you get something delivered to the room call WDW Florist and they will do it and send it to the resort. If you are staying in a deluxe resort with concierge, then the concierge desk can take care of the delivery and bill the room.

But no, a guest should not expect freebies.

Glad you enjoyed POFQ. It is our favorite resort. We were there just last month in building 5. The food court does sometimes look like a tornado struck but the food is pretty good. The landscaping is beautiful. I hope your daughter had a great birthday!

We stayed at POFQ for 4 nights in June. It was our twins' birthday weekend and they did send cards over for them on Sunday which was nice. However, what really impressed me about POFQ happened on Monday as we were getting ready to leave. My dd6 was upset that her Daddy wasn't able to win an animal from one of those silly arcade machines made worse by the fact that we were leaving Disney. One of the desk staff bent over backward to put a smile on dd's face. She brought out buttons, stickers, coloring books, toothbrushes, soaps, etc...Basically, whatever freebies they had available and made each of my kids a little goody pack. She also told her stories about her own daughter never wanting to go home from Disney. Before long, my dd was laughing and having a grand old time in the lobby. It really left a nice impression and I would definitely go back to POFQ any time.

Hi

Snowysmom...we are also requesting building 5..from the looks of the map, it looked like it was closest to the pool and food court....Should I have requested building 2? thanks bunches

We were put in building 5 the last trip and it's the perfect location- we're asking for it again :thumbsup2 We were in the corner closest to the FC, so we didn't hear the pool noise, but I don't think it would have been that big of a deal if we had. Building 2 is across from it and is a little bit further to the food court, but the distance is negligible. HTH.

BTW, my mom is from Pgh :)

POFQ does not offer a sit-down resturant. Boatwrights is next door at POR, not that far of a walk or busride (you can catch the bus at POFQ and get off at the first stop at POR) or boatride (walking will be quicker for most).

POFQ does not offer quiet pools. Again, there are multiple quiet pools next door at POR.

POFQ has only one laundry facility (other moderates have multiple laundry facilities, one at each quiet pool) and it can be very crowded at times.

POFQ has a smaller food court than the other moderates.

These are the major differences related to size.
