We just got home yesterday. We were in the world from Sept 21-28. We stayed at the POFQ for 3 nights then over to the YC for 4 nights. We have split our stays on the last few trips and we really enjoy it. It saves money and enables us to see the hi-lights of different resorts.

POFQ - This was our first stay at this lovely little resort. We loved it. It was quaint and very pretty. We checked in about 5pm on Sat and the lines were short. We got a great water view room of the river...:teeth: in bldg 5. We really wanted a king bed but there were just not any available. But our room location just could not be beat. We were near the pool, the river, the foodcourt, and the bus stop. We were very centrally located. We really liked the cobblestone streets, lampposts, and wrought iron railings. The pool was fun too. The small size of this resort is its biggest asset. The busstops were somewhat crowded but we always got a bus and only had to stand 1-2 times. Most times we would go straight to the parks and skip stopping at the POR since were full. The food court was good for breakfast (thats all we had there). The room was pretty too. Very similar to the mansion rooms at POR. We both enjoyed it and it was VERY quiet. This was not the case at the YC. My only small complaint would be the carpet in the room. Stained and very worn. they really need to replace it. But overall we had good mousekeeping and the room was clean. No animals or cute things. But the maid did leave a thank you note for the tip.
We would stay here again in a minute. We always enjoy taking the bus to DD and the ambience can not be beat.
It did rain HARD our first night there and we were on the boat to DD in a hurricane (or so we thought) ;) ;)

We moved over to the YC on Tuesday and checked in about 1ish. Our room was ready and there was no wait at check in. Here is our big surprise......we had booked a waterview and we had been upgraded to Concierge....:earseek: I was so surprised. I only asked for a nice view of the lake. THANK YOU room controller. We had the absolute best room we have ever had view wise. We were right next to the Admirals Suite on the 5th floor and we had a perfect view of Epcot and Illuminations. :smooth: We could not the boardwalk that well but who cares. We could see all of Illuminations from our balcony.....even the moving planet earth.
The refurbed rooms are really nice. no daybed. We have stayed at the YC before but we really liked it more this time. The newly done rooms are great and CLEAN !!!! spotless. We were just a few doors down the hall from the elevators and the lounge. Perfect. My only complaint is how thin the walls are. We notice this every time we stay at BC/YC. We could hear the family's next door conversations, phone calls, crying baby....:( . That would be my only complaint.
The concierge workers were all very friendly but bored. they never had much to do and looked bored. We did not use them for any PS's or anything. I always do that myself. The lounge was ok. I was not impressed with the food at all. I also was dissapointed about no plastic bottled water to take to the parks/or cold sodas.
We had to ask for things constantly. Ice, napkins, plates, etc.
Now we did not pay for our upgrade so I won't complain. But I would not pay for concierge here after staying at the concierge at the Polynesian. The food offerings alone make the Polynesian #1 in my book. Plus the bottled water too. HUGE PLUS.
The staff was friendly but there were a few stuffy guests in there and I did hear some being rude to the staff. some people are so pompous. anyway......
Overall we loved our stay at both resorts and it was a dream come true for the view we had at the YC. Thank you again YC.
I don't know why we got the upgrade....pixie dust....This was the best thing we have ever got on 8 trips.... So for those of you out there asking...I don't know why. Just luck !!!! I did not ask and would have never expected it.
Now having stayed concierge 2 times in a row I feel spoiled. But I would not pay the prices for the YC concierge. But that is just me.
We had fun swimming, had good bus service, and good food.
Any questions.......
I posted on the Theme parks board and I am off to do my restaurant reviews on the Restaurants boards... oh did we eat good..;) :) :) :)

How Wonderful!!!!!! :D :D :D Im so happy for you guys!! that is a great surprise!! :D :D :D :D

Welcome home! Congratulations on your upgrade at the YC!

Did you happen to hear anything about when the BC renovations will start? Thanks.

We had the absolute best room we have ever had view wise. We were right next to the Admirals Suite on the 5th floor and we had a perfect view of Epcot and Illuminations.

We are staying at the YC Waterview Concierge in two months and I was just wondering what room number you had and how far away was it from the lounge? Also, how was the construction? Distracting?
THANKS

Cali - We did not hear anything about the BC rehab but they were still working on the 1st floor at the YC while we were there. We saw contstruction around the pool too.
Sorry no news for you.

materialgirl - we were in room 5151. easy to remember. I would ask for a room with view of Illuminations since WDW is not keen on people asking for specific room numbers. We were 4 doors down from the lounge. very close.
the construction was on the first floor only....they were painting. it was not distracting at all. ;)

Hi Disney-Kim, we stayed YC concierge too Sept 20-27. Wonder if we passed each other in the lounge. I wanted the bottled water too and was dissapointed they didnt have any. We got soda everytime we asked for one but it would have been nice to have it out. The concierge staff was very nice and yes everytime we passed the desk they were just sitting there, we hardly ever saw anyone there. Our favorite was DJ, he was really nice and helpful and dh enjoyed a little football talk with him (dh was in football withdrawal). We were in 5182 not really the best view but it had the huge patio used for several rooms together and was a great place for us to sit and my 2 yr old to run off a little energy. We loved it there but I want to try the Poly and a few others.

Hi! Great reviews! One question...was your room request at POFQ not honored because all the rooms were booked or because such a room doesn't exist. I ask because we will be staying there in december. I have reserved a water view room. I have also requested building 5 and a king bed. I'm just curious if they said a room such as that even exists. I want to make sure that at least the building 5 is honored along with the water view. TIA!:D

4greatboys......Its a small world. I don't remember a family with 4 boys though.....;) Once we figured out where the sodas were we helped ourselves....but we had to ask for ice sometimes. Why don't they just keep them cold? Did you think the food was very exciting? We thought it was ok but nothing exciting. jmho.
The Poly concierge is great. the people were not that great but the lounge/view/food/selections/bottled water/ etc. were really nice. We spent our honeymoon there and loved it. ;)

Wildcard.....We had paid for a waterview at the POFQ but they can not guarantee a king unless you pay for it. So they prob exist but were not available. I jusk asked nicely if we could get a king and they did not have any. But our room was such a great location we loved it. I would have booked a king if I could have but they were sold out. I would rather have a king over the view.
;) those double beds are really small. ;)

Thanks for the heads-up. I wish they had the choice to reserve a room with both king bed AND waterview. So far I have seen that is not the case...:(

Disney-Kim.....the breakfast foods were good. And we loved the desert offerings. The boys liked the mini corn dogs, pbj sandwiches, cheese and krackers. They didnt like the wrap sandwiches or spring rolls. I read on another post AKL had chicken fingers--we were hoping to see some of those. But overall using the lounge we only bought 1 meal a day, which is a big savings considering the cheapest meal we had there was $35.
I really want to try the Poly and AKL (if Expedia will give me a good deal again). This was our first stay at a deluxe and now I think we are hooked!!

snowhiterabbit......no I have not been on the scrapbook board....but will check it out since I bought a scrapbook on this trip.

4greatboys.......your kids liked the same stuff we did. The spring rolls were cold and the wraps were not too good either.
Go for the Polynesian if you can get a good deal.....I think your kids will love it !!
;)
