We had a wonderful time as usual. We checked in on July 3rd & our room was actually ready @ 5:30pm. MK was open till 4am that night. So we headed over around 10pm. The crowds were very light. We were able to breeze through the lines. Friday we went to AK & decided to buy our AP's. It was our first time at AK & we had a blast. Even a small rain shower couldn't dampen our spirits. That night we went to Hollywood Studios for the fireworks. We were a little disapointed. We thought it would have lasted longer than 5 minutes but, they were ok. The park was open till 1am but we left around 10:30 since DH wasn't feeling well. We got on the bus @ 10:35 & didn't arrive home till 11:45. There was major grid lock on every road surrounding the area. Our bus finally pulled into OKW & the bus stops were jammed packed to the max with people. The driver explained to them the other buses were running late due to the major traffic jams. I doubt any of those people waiting made it to the parks since it was already 11:45pm. As far as the buses go they ran really smooth. The longest we ever had to wait for a bus was 10 minutes.
Saturday my sister and her family drove over from Tampa & we spent the day by the pool relaxing. That night one of DH's drivers (he owns a trucking company) was in town & it was his B-day. So we had him come over & we took him to Fulton's Crab House for dinner and drinks. I had the Alaskan King Crab Legs with Australian Lobster Tail......OMG! It was so great. Everything was fantastic.
Sunday we went to visit family in Spring Hill. Monday was a pool day & packing to leave:sad2:
Tuesday morning around 7:45am Mousekeeping knocked at our door to see what time we were checking out. I was a little perturbed by this. First since it was so early & second I had just gotten out of the shower. Don't get me wrong I understand they have alot of rooms to clean & sometimes people leave early in the morning. But to knock @ 7:45 this I didn't like at all. I told her we were leaving between 10-10:30 since my flt wasn't till 1pm. Guess what? She knoced again @ 9:45:mad: Now I'm a little upset. I was going to gather all the garbage bags & remove the bed sheets like I usually due but, I decided against it. Boy was I glad I didn't do it cause she knocked again @ 10:15. (DH had been on the phone with his office all morning & wanted to settle things with his employees before we got on the plane.) We walked out @ 10:18 & she was standing by the balcony waiting for us to leave. I personally thought checkout was 11am. It was only a 1 brdrm she had to clean not a GV! This is the first time this has ever happened to us & quite frankly it was annoying. Sorry just my opion.
All in all we had a great trip & can't wait for our return trip in three weeks to Vero Beach.:dance3:

Interesting that Mousekeeping was there so early!! I too would have been a bit put off.

Glad it all went well otherwise!

We had that happen to us once (don't remember which resort). That's why I always make sure my "Do not disturb" sign is hanging on the door on checkout day :thumbsup2

Glad the rest of your trip was good :goodvibes

Glad you enjoyed you trip. Wow! MK was open 'till 4AM, I never heard of that before. When my kids (adults now) were younger we always enjoyed the parks the most when they were opened 'till midnight. Not sure we could have handled 4AM.

About housekeeping. We usually leave early on check-out day and we've called the front desk a few times to say we were leaving early if housekeeping wanted to clean the room. We were told it didn't matter what time we left, housekeeping wouldn't be around until 11. That never did make much sense to me, but I certainly wouldn't want them knocking on the door. I would have been annoyed too.

We had the same thing happen to us last week when we checked out. We left the room at 10:20 and the maid was standing outside our door, leaning on the railing waiting for us. :confused3 We figured bell services must have tipped them off since we called for them about 15 minutes before leaving.

I think that if they spent more time in the rooms cleaning them instead of hanging outside the doors of the people checking out, they might do a better job. When we first got to our room after checking in, we found someone else's french fries in the oven, :scared1: a rusted can opener, missing pots and pans, missing batteries in the remote, and other assorted missing items. I'm not too happy with OKW housekeeping since we've had issues the past two years with unclean rooms and sloppy housekeeping.

Please voice your complaints...that is the only way the powers that be will ever know of these things. I would be upset too if they arrived that early. We always put the do not disturb on.

MK open till 4AM!!!! Wow!! Don't think I could have lasted! Sounds like you had a very nice trip. Don't think I would have liked that housekeeping issue though!! After the second time I would have put my Do No Disturb sign on the door!! Please voice your complaints!!

:) Yeah I wouldnt tolerate that! I commend you on your patience.... after the 2nd knock I would have made a call to the front desk that would have raised my blood pressure about 100 points!

Yeah know I never thought to put the "Do Not Disturb" sign out:rolleyes1 . I always do that when we're at other hotels.........
Guess I will let MS know about the little problem of knocking serveral times at the door. I know in the past we too have let the front desk know when we are leaving very early in the morning this way Mousekeeping can come in and clean.
As far as MK being open till 4am that was a shock to us also. Thank god our grown kids weren't with us, they'd probally wanna still till closing:eek:
OOOOO I forgot to tell ya's that on Sunday night around 10pm, I was sitting on the balcony (we were in bldg 20 over looking the pond) & I had to do a double take @ what I saw in the pond...........it was a golf cart:laughing: DH said someone must have forgotten to put the brake on. I said someone must have had way toooo much to drink:rotfl2: The golf cart was gone by 6am on Monday morning. I just thought that was funny.

Where at in spring hill?? I have a snow bird aunt at timber pines.

Hi Manning,
Actually, it's outside of Spring Hill. It's a little town called Hudson just off Rt 19. Most people have never heard of it but everyones knows of Spring Hill........lol

I've found alot of times there is no "do not disturb" sign at OKW.

I'm surprised you didn't get hang up phone calls, I've had that experience.

You're right about that, this June I found ours on our last day. It was in the hall closet of the GV! Talk about a strange place to find it! The earliest knock i've had was 9:30am, then I said I'de be oout at 10:30 and they left us alone. Sorry to hear you didn't have the same luck, talk about irritating!

we were there from june 30th till july 8th and i saw the golf cart also i thought hmmm someone can't drive. Sorry you had some problems with mousekeeping they bothered me on check out day also 7:30 am knock knock i was not as nice as you were i told them to come back at 11:00. The 4 am magic kingdom was very nice we have 3 teens and they forced me to stay till closing YAWN but all and all it was a great stay and i will let you know how the trip ends when we leave on the 16th....

Glad you had a good time - we love OKW!
Just curious though about the fireworks at HS - do you mean the Fantasmic show that lasts for at least 20 minutes, because I didn't know HS had any other fireworks show.
We had mousekeeping knock on our one bedroom door at 9 am on our trip in June as well - have to remember about the do not disturb sign next time - she knew we weren't leaving anytime soon since I answered the door in my pj's and the room was still dark.
Mousekeeping also did our trash and towel service when I was out and my 16 yo son was asleep on the pullout couch - I asked him if he let them in, and he didn't even realize someone had been in the room to leave fresh towels and empty the trash can. Good thing he sleeps with pj's on!:confused3

Thanks for the report!

Last month when we were at SSR, we hung our DND sign on the door the whole trip. We did get the calls though on checkout day.

One call was from Mousekeeping saying "our neighbor complained of an alarm clock going off" which was highly unlikely, because we were on the end of a hall in a 1 bedroom. That means our neighbor was on the other side of our kitchen/living area where there are no alarm clocks. Then it was some kid voice, wrong number. Then it was the hang up.

So remember, hang the sign and take the phone off the hook!:rotfl:

With housekeeping being outsourced, they seem to be a little more aggressive about getting into the rooms early.

They had a fireworks show @ 9pm. The show started right on time but only lasted 5 minutes. Thursday night we went to MK for there show since they were having the same fireworks Thursday & Friday night. Maybe, they did do two different shows that night. I'm not sure cause after the fireworks we caught the last show of the Indiana Jones show then left the park around 10:30pm.

Inn on the Gulf....... they make great grouper.

We have only had the knock on the door once at OKW, and we have stayed there more times than I can remember. We do, however, usually leave the room ASAP, and when we do, I always call mousekeeping and let them know we are out. I also will usually call mousekeeping and tell them our EXPECTED time of departure. I wonder if maybe that doesn't ward off some of those knocks and calls too.

DEFINITELY tell the manager about it though. When we had a housekeeping complaint at OKW on our last trip, I mentioned it at the front desk before we left and they noted the building number and said someone would speak to that housekeeper about the issue.
