Just back from OKW-a few random thoughts....

Well, IMHO failure to provide Fox news is a plus LOL! It's all in your view point!

What is is about Fox news that so many people take exception to it? This type of thread was on another board and had some saying that they missed it and it became a slam fest on Fox news.

If someone says they miss, say CNN (which I think WDW gets, but anyway...) does everyone jump on that too? Am I just sensitive to the "Fox Slam"?:confused3 LOL

Not really I just find it interesting that folks don't miss anything but "Fox News" There are other news channels on there. So if the world ends while you are at Disney you can find out about it.

I do miss HGTV and Food Network, but not enough to worry about it.

I actually find Disney offerings to be close to those of a lot of Deluxe hotels (with a few more "kids" channels) Now if I stay at a more moderate or budget hotel I often get the entire cable selection for the local town. :confused3 Not a clue why you get so many fewer channels at a "deluxe" then at a value.

Well, I guess some of us just prefer hearing news from Fox. LOL.

1) Been members since 1994 and we love OKW and do not regret buying into DVC, however we have seen a lot of special perks for DVC members come and go. When we received our Member Perks booklets at check in-I was very disappointed to see there are not too many perks anymore. Bummer. You get more perks being an annual park passholder then being a DVC member.

2) Love OKW but did take a tour of SSR and AKR villas. Love the new touches......extra bathroom for a one bedroom and of course the flat screen TVs. I wondering when OKW will get flat screens?

3) Speaking of TVs, boy Disney definitely directs you to the programs they want you to watch on TV. The TV channels are very limited. My husband was going through withdrawal with no Fox and Friends!

4) Will never go back anytime during March or April to chance Spring Break crowds again. Unbelieveable! Too many people for us.

5) Flew from Allentown PA to Sanford/Orlando. What a piece of cake. Great little airport, no major headaches like Orlando International Airport.

All in all great trip. Just wanted to share.:)

We also just returned from OKW (April 8-12). The crowds were bonkers I am glad we didn't have the kids with us on this trip. The weather was lovely however and those grey goose slushies sure went down smooth in that heat! I didn't watch any tv while there but do like to have the news channels. We bought at AKV in November in Disneyland and took the tour of the AKV models and the SSR Grand Villa too!!
We still had paper cups etc in our studio:)

I wouldn't be surprised to see that WDW set attendance records for this time period; there were definitely more people there this year than last.

I was at WDW 3/31-4/7 staying at both VWL and OKW. I didn't think the crowds were bad at all :confused3 . I thought they were going to be worse, but we were able to do everything we wanted and some things more than once. We got fastpasses for the more popular attractions early and then did other things.

Maybe I just hit the right park on the right day :confused3 . I will say we didn't go to the MK during the day. We only went during the P&PP and arrived at 4pm.

I also think OKW should upgrade their TV's. They don't have to be flatscreens, but something new. Our TV only worked in Black & White, but we only watched the weather channel for the days forcast so it didn't really matter. My son did borrow a movie from the community center, but he was fine watching it in black & white  .

Poohgirl- My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw you were from Hamburg. I grew up in Hamburg and moved when away when I met DH. I still visit my family there as often as possible. It is a whole different world than where I live now which is only 75 minutes away! I miss it!

To stay on topic - TV channels are definitely limited. I forgot they don't have Fox which my dad listens to religiously. My parent's are joining us for a trip in November. I'm not telling my dad there is no Fox TV because he would probably cancel!
