Just back from OKW 2 BR, member update too, any ??

When we checked in, they put us in the South Point area (bldg 52), which kind of disappointed me since the pool there was going to be closed the 3rd day of our stay. But OKW seemed very full. Also, although it was supposed to be a golf view, our view wasn't too great-pretty ostructed by trees, and the little pond between us and the golf course was pretty filled with algae. Also, there were some extremely heavy-footed people in our building-at times the building shook from people running around. Now that I've told you the bad, let me tell you the good-we had a wonderful time! Really enjoy OKW, and we were so impressed with the size of the units. We've only stayed in a studio before this trip, and DH still can't believe the 1 BRs have as big a LR/Kitchen as the 2 BR. We're especially surprised after seeing the size of the 1 BR models at BCV. OKW is definitely DH's favorite resort by far. Loved the "home away from home" feeling-we agreed it's a stronger feeling than any other resort for us.

The member update was almost exclusively about the non-Disney options. Everyone who went got the 10 year anniversary pin. Also, many attendees got either member mouse pads, hats, koozies, about 1/3 in attendance (maybe a dozen of the 30 or so) for answering various questions right. I got a mousepad for knowing how many units at BCV. Someone got a hat for being the only original member there. Judithm was also at the member update, maybe she'll have a better memory than I do. Can't remember anything else.

Simba's Mom, good memory! I got there late because I was busy early in the morning playing with my 6-year old niece - one has to have priorities, right ? Anyway ... there was a raffle at the end, & a member's little girl picked the winning number. JudithM won ! However, I gave some of the items back, so the drawing could be extended & other member's could walk away with DVC items. One item I won was a member's white ball cap. Later in the week another member stopped me & asked where I got it because he wanted to buy one.

Simba'sMom -- I'm glad to hear you had a good trip. I'm sorry you didn't get a spectacular golf course view but there's always next time. I know how frustrating it is not to get what you were hoping for but the disappointment goes away when you know how many more trips are ahead.

I was there with you, small world. You are correct, not much news. I went there with the sole purpose of getting one of those white DVC hats. I think the CM knew that because I was the one he asked the name of the new collection property and the state it was in. I couldn't remember so he gave me the answers and then the hat. I have a hat collection and really needed that one.
