Just back from NYC Inaugural cruise: info inside! UPDATE:*pics on my web site added*

great pics! We can't wait to sail out of NY on 6/17. Can anyone on that sailing tell me where to get the best pics of the Statue of Liberty? I'm thinking decks 9 and 10 will be mobbed. Maybe we'll try deck 4. We also have a verandah cabin which will be facing the statue so that's always a possibility.

Thanks!

Great pictures, saw the one with the chocolate martini, love that drink

Thanks, Julia! :)

If you're on the starboard side of the ship, you'll be fine, on any deck. But the best area is starboard and aft, on decks 9 and 10, since you'll be on an open deck and you'll have plenty of time to snap pictures.

When you were at Serenity Bay was the water very shallow a long way out? Or a question for any one else that has been there.

We spend out time at the family beach with the grandkids but went over to check it out this time. There was only one other couple left there and he said it had been that way all day.

I just wonder if it is every deep enough to get wet while standing up.

On our previous 3 days at CC we were at the family beach, so this was our first time at Serenity Bay.

On this day you could definitely get wet while standing out in the water. But then someone told me that it was high tide while we were there, and that sometimes you can walk out quite a long way and hit the sand bar (not a drinking bar, an actual sand bar! LOL) without being in any deeper than your calves.

I'm 5'4" and the water probably came up to just below my shoulders at the farthest point that we went out. That was plenty for us. We dunked under to get all wet and then floated (blissfully!) on the floats.

Later on I'll be posting more pics on my web site from Serenity Bay; my DH took some pics of us who were out in the water, so maybe that can give a better idea of the depth on the day that we were there.

Yay! Thanks for the sneak peek into "our" cabin!

I started working on my web page for this cruise. I only have a few pictures up right now, but I'll be adding a lot more later on!

Thanks for sharing pics...looks like fun! And I would be so excited if we get Mickey hands, too!! Very fun!

We are on the Magic on July 8. It is our first Disney Cruise.

Seeing your Pirate Deck Party picture made me realize I don't know that I've paid enough attention to what I've read here

Where is the 'best' place to be for the deck party and to see the fireworks?

Thanks!

One more question....I saw on your door you had a magnet of Mickey in front of the Statue of Liberty. I am not technologically literate and while I have tried to find this picture and copy, it is blurry when I enlarge. Any suggestions?!

Thanks!

Thanks for posting this!! We are on the June 30th sailing!:goodvibes

Great pics. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge!
The chocolate martini is a must do for my upcoming cruise! Do you recall how much they were going for?? I also saw on other sailings that one bar (Diversions, maybe?) had 2 for 1 specials most nights from 5 to 545 and again at another time. Still the case, if you remember??? :drinking1
Thanks!:flower3:

We don't have young children with us so we went up to Deck 10, starboard side, and there was literally nothing between us and the fireworks. We had a front row seat... or should I say, front deck spot! LOL

It seemed that the families with children were either down on Deck 9 so they could dance with the characters.

However, the fireworks are shot up high into the sky so I'd imagine that they're visible from anywhere on decks 9 and 10.

That magnet was a gift from a DISer, so I'm not sure how they got their copy of it. Sorry, wish I could help!

I don't remember how much the chocolate martini was but I'd guess around $6, give or take. It was made with Godiva chocolate liqueur. YUM!

We were only in Diversions once, for a DVC presentation, so I'm sorry that I don't know about the 2 for 1 specials, although I did hear people talking about it, so I think they do still offer the 2 for 1.

Thank you so much for the sneak peak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's making me even more excited now, if that's even possible!

I am a first time cruiser and was wondering if anyone knows how I go about requesting a specific dining rotation or if anyone that just got off the Magic has any recommendations. I was thinking of Lumiere for Formal and Parrot Cay for Pirate night.

One more question - I have main dining - will I miss the Statue of Liberty? and can I get to dinner late if so?

You typically can't request a dining rotation. They often group people based on who is in their party (such as making sure those with little kids have AP twice, or the adults only parties start at Tritons/Lumiere's so they have more "formal" dining twice).

I called last week to make sure we had a table for 4, and asked if they had the rotations assigned yet, and they said no. At least, that is what they *said*! I also asked if we could be seated on a certain side of the dining room, since all our cruises we have sailed on the right side of the dining room (at Triton's). I was hoping for something on the left side, near the Portholes (again, at Tritons/Lumiere's) but he told me he couldn't guarantee anything, but "would make a note."

There's always hope! Good luck, and no matter where you are on each night, its fabulous! And formal night and Pirate night the menus are the same in all dining rooms :) Have a great cruise!

It doesn't hurt to call DCL and ask, and you can always check when you are onboard.

Like Mom2Princesses said, you can make requests and you won't know if they were able to make them happen until you check in at the port.

Having said that, these were the dining requests that we asked our TA to make for us:

Table for 4 (for just our party of 4)
We requested to be in Lumiere's for formal night.

We got BOTH of our requests met, and our dining rotation also put us into Parrot Cay for pirate night. We had late dining, and our table was near the center of each dining room. We table #68 and I liked this location. On our previous cruises we were more in the back right side of the dining rooms.

If you booked with a TA, ask them to make the requests for you. If you booked directly with DCL then you can call and ask them to add the requests to your reservation.

On our cruise the last bus was 10:30pm but from what I've heard, the buses were running later than that from the Magic Kingdom. I'd check with the Port Adventures desk on your specific sailing to see if you'd have time to see Wishes or not. Also, we were the first sailing doing this, so maybe on future cruises they will tweak the bus times. I heard that the line was long at 10:30pm that people had to wait a while for enough buses to arrive at the MK.[/QUOTE]

We were in the MK bus line at 10:30 and the line was long. We got on the 3rd bus and I am guessing that they needed at least 2-3 more. We got back to the ship a few minutes after midnight. The ship left port after 1am. We got the most out of the WDW day...6:30 bus to HS and 10:30 MK bus back with 3 kids (13, 10, and 5).
