Last year we had the good fortune of having a perfect sunny day at Castway Cay. But, boy, when they closed the beach and herded us back onto the ship, you should have seen the sunburnt flesh! I'm talking about just about everybody having some degree of sunburn. As we were waiting in line to reboard (5 to 10 minutes) we were comparing stories and our inadequate attempts at protection. My DD and I faired pretty well as we lubed up repeatedly and wore t-shirts, but the neck, ears and arms still showed some pink. You have to be prepared when you're spending 6 or 7 hours out in the blazing sun. That evening it was almost comical seeing all the red bodies at dinner, in the shows and just milling about. Even the crew was commenting on how they hadn't seen that much lobstering in months.
It's one of those cruise things. Everybody starts out their normal stressed selves. Then, suddenly it seems like everybody has hair braids. Then, suddenly everybody has the "just sunned" look. Then everybody is smiling and looking really relaxed. Then, there's the dreaded "oh this is the last day" look.
