Hi All!

Just back from 2 week trip at HRH (and Dolphin/Poly@Disney).

Me, the PBH lover, has another FAV resort!
We had a kids suite at the HRH and it was BEAUTIFUL! I know there have been others on the Board who did not care for it; we loved it! We were there for 5 nites. I will post more later - but if anyone has any questions, I will be happy to try and answer them.

WELL LOOK WHO'S BACK!! :bounce:

Welcome home, PDG! I'm so glad you like the Hard Rock, after the PB I figured it had some serious competition!

Did the room look like my "imfamous" description?? ;)

Can't wait for that trip report!

Welcome back PDG! I am glad you had a good time. Did you receive any type of discount on the Kidsuite at the HRH? When I called they told me no, but I was able to get a Fan Club discount on the one at the PBH previously. Thanks!

Welcome back! How did the kidsuites compare to PBH kidsuites? Were you entitled to the concierge lounge??

Hi all!

It is late (midnight) and I snuck downstairs to answer some questions - but will try and give some serious time to it tomorrow too!

The HRH is FABULOUS! We had a beautiful kids suite and I liked it even more than PBH - as a whole. They had 2 separate bathrooms both sharing one toilet - but the bathroom with access to the master br had a very large shower stall with double sink vanity and then that bathroom led to the kids bathroom which had a tub, shower, pedestal sink and toilet; the kids had access to their bathroom without disturbing us in the master br. The PBH just has one bath with access in and out of the master br. The suite had a foyer(made of marble and slate-beautiful!- that circled around into the master br so that it gave you total privacy - no one could see into the BR from the doorway. It had a huge walk-in closet for clothes and all your suitcase storage, souvenirs, groceries, etc.(this was great!!! it kept everything nice and out of the way!) We were in room 6085 and overlooked the waterway for the boats. We did not have access to the club lounge. Lots of drawer space in both bedrooms. The master BR also had a double pull out sofa, coffee table, 2 end tables, and nice comfy club chair. They said that the beds were the same in both resorts; I didn't find this to be so. The king bed we had was not as soft as the one at PBH.

The staff at HRH are far more friendly and accomodating than PBH and I love PBH! Example - my ds ran downstairs to the restaurant to get a take out order which was not ready - they had him sit at the bar and gave him a soda and order of fries while he waited! The staff were always giving the boys high-fives in the lobby or whenever they passed them by. Several times I passed staff members who asked "how are you enjoying your stay so far?" One staff member who noticed the boys looking at all the memoribilia asked if they would like a tour of the hotel's memoribilia and gave them interesting facts and trivia which the kids loved.

The pool is fantastic; but got crowded early - before noon. So claim your chairs early. We rented cabanas twice and they had a lovely welcome sign with our names on them (nice touch I thought).

I can tell you that we are already planning a return trip withing the next few months - it was that great!

We ate at NBA, Pastamore, Hard Rock Cafe, restaurants in the parks and the restaurant in the hotel. Velvet's lounge does make great drinks - they made killer cosmopolitans and mojito's!;)

Robin, the room was much nicer than the pix! I expected something bawdy and loud - very nicely appointed! PS - Spidey said "you bored him". LOL

I know I probably left out lots of things; sorry! Please feel free to ask any questions you might have.

BTW, yes the kids suites did have a discount w/ fan club card.

Everyone coming back from the HRH recently says that the pool area got really crowded. My DW was looking forward to having a break from the parks in the early afternoon and sitting by the pool for an hour or so. Will she have a problem finding a free lounger? Is it that crowded?
While she is doing this we (My bro' and I) will hit the poolside bar - was this crowded too?
(PS we'll be there in late August - 37 days, can't wait!)

Xavier,
We were there the week of July 4th and the HRH was fully booked. We never got to the pool before 1:30 PM, and sometimes got there as late as 4:30. We never had a problem finding a lounge chair. In fact I was amazed by that. Other hotels run out of chairs around their pools quite early, but HRH has a very large pool area with many rows of chairs. The pool bar also has plenty room

Thanks for the tips on the HRH Kids Suite. DH, two DS, and myself are going to UO/IOA during Christmas vacation week (5 days) and we've got a kids suite also. Still a little concerned about status of "No Line, No Wait" come December since that's the reason we picked HRH in the first place. Thanks again.

No, that was BARRY! I FLOORED him!!

Well, I spoke to Spider-Man the other day and he was complaining. He said that short African-American woman chased him around the park and tried to grab his bootie all day. The woman claimed to be a DIS moderator. He felt like a piece of meat. :p

Sorry, Robin, I accidentally edited your post. :(

Barry, give me back my POST!!

Now there must be dozens of African American moderators to choose from, how in the world could anyone think it was ME???

Xavier,

I was there the week of July 4th and found it difficult to find chairs together near the pool - as a matter of fact, I had my own towels removed twice because I had saved the chairs prior to leaving the hotel so I would have the chairs when I returned. The staff was great in trying to help locate chairs for us.

BTW, I did talk to management about the FOTL access and they said at this time there is no intention of doing away with FOTL for resort guests; they realize that this is the main attraction for their guests. I was making ressies to return in either October or Feb. (made both) and wanted clarification on that too - I was told that there were no plans to do away with that at all.

The kids suites are smaller at HRH than at PBH, but just as nice - being as you have 2 rooms and that walk-in closet, you don't notice it much because you have the extra space to put things out of the way. The HRH has more "useable space".
Barry, don't you just hate it when little people are always trying to over-compensate? LOL LOL LOL (hey, I think that was funny Rob) :bounce: :bounce:

Me? Over compensate??? NEVER!

Stand anywhere in Universal and who will you hear first... the 7foot tall Barry or ME??? ;)

And the Dolphin? Do you have to MAKE me go to the Disney Resorts board??? UGH!

Yes, but I will always have the better view. :)

Could you please tell me if you got a discount?

How much is the rate at the HRH for a kid's suite?

I have Entertainment card, Fan Club card, and Loews card.

We'd be going end of November.

Thanks!

I did get a discount - the best discount was with the fan club card and I think it is $239.00 a night.
:D
