I just got back from a week at the HRH and my first visit to US/IOA. I was a little worried about the Hard Rock because of all the negative reviews that I've read, but I absolutely loved it and will definitely go back. There are, of course, a couple of negatives about every vacation, but the positives far outweighed them. Here's a list of both:
HRH
The hotel was absolutely beautiful, especially the pool. It was great having Starbuck's and Emack & Bolio's right in the hotel for coffee and breakfast every day and an ice cream snack at night. I never found the pool to be very crowded, and the slide is really fun! The pool staff went out of their way to make sure that you had everything that you needed. We ate out at the Beach Club overlooking the pool twice. Although it's not cheap, the food and drinks are great and it's a nice place to have lunch or dinner after a long day at the parks.
The only complaints that I have about this hotel are minor. I had a deluxe room for the third bed, and they should have been ashamed of what they gave you for the sofa bed. It did not have the typical bar across it digging into your back, but it sagged so much that it was like sleeping in a hammock. I think it just needs to be replaced, but it was pretty uncomfortable.
The other complaint that I had was with housekeeping, and the complaints, as I said, are minor. They didn't make up the room until 4 in the afternoon some days (which I know is unavoidable sometimes), but the day we checked out they were knocking to get in at 8:30 in the morning. They let us go without toilet paper for two days. Luckily they had replaced the tissues! They also never replaced any of the drinking glasses that were used. Oh well, I washed them myself. Like I said, no big deal, and none of these things would ever stop me from staying there again or enjoying my vacation.
I'll write a review of the parks tomorrow. Please ask any questions, and I'll be happy to answer!
