Wow, we loved it there!!!! I took DS (6) and we had an AWESOME time!! We booked the "Kid Cabin" suite, for a rate of $229 plus tax (total was $498 for the two nights). We checked in Friday around 1:30 P.M. Check in was smooth and there was no line. There was a sign that said "if you are using a debit card, please let the clerk know", so I did. She said that they authorize $110 per day on the card if debit is used, so she gave me the option of not using a card and that I just wouldn't have room charging priveledges, which was fine with me. Then we were issued our wrist bands which also double as the room key which is VERY cool! No keys to lose, you just hold your wrist up to the door and it opens. So we made our way to our room, very long walk as we were all the way at the end of the building. The room was super clean, I think we were the first to stay in it since they just opened the day before. It was spacious and the decor was outstanding. There was a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and coffee cups. We brought some snacks and breakfast items from home.
Then we headed to the water park. It's 84 degrees in there and pretty humid. It was nice though since it was pretty cold outside. There was maybe 25 people in the water park on Friday, no lines at all. They have towels in the waterpark for free as well as life jackets for the kiddies. The water slides were great, not too scary for DS but I think his favorite was the wave pool and the water playground area. They have a waterslide roller coaster, but you have to be 48" tall for that so we didn't go, but everyone was raving about it. Saturday was really busy in the waterpark, there were hundreds of people. Sunday morning was semi busy, but the annoying part was that they were short staffed for lifeguards and the lazy river was closed and the kiddie area was also closed for a couple of hours. Also, since the tubes are taken in the wave pool, there was a short supply of "single rider" tubes for the waterslides, which was a little annoying, but eh, we just used the doubles. I took a bunch of pics of the waterpark with my waterproof camera and when I get them developed, I'll post. They do have waterproof digital sony cameras you can rent for free. They just require a deposit. I opted not to do that, as I didn't want to lose it. They will transfer the pics (holds 100) to a CD for $25 at check out.
As far as food options, they have a food counter in the water park, a quick serve restaurant outside of it that has Pizza Hut ($4.50 for an indv. pie) and some other quick fare items (salads, pastries, candy, etc.). The main restaurant features a buffet only breakfast which was tasty ($9.99 adults, 5.95 child). They also serve lunch (we ate off site for lunch), and dinner, which again is a buffet, or they have a few ala carte items, which ranged in price from $8.99-$11.99. The dinner buffet is $13.99 for adults and $5.95 for kids). The food wasn't that great for dinner (salad bar was good) and the service is awful in the restaurant so hopefully they fix that. At breakfast this morning we were only charged for my meal and drink, so I think they were comping people for the slow service. I noticed there is a diner right outside the property and a Friendly's a few miles down the road too.
At night they have a show at the clock tower at 8pm and 9pm. It lasts about 10 minutes, then they have story time by the fireplace and "Biko" the bear (a costumed character) joins a staff member who reads the story to the kiddies in their PJs. Very cute!!
The Cub Club is on the same level as the waterpark and they do crafts from 11-7pm. Some are free, and some cost $5-$7. We made a beach bag for $5, which turned out cute. They also give the kids a free bracelet for signing up to be a Cub Club member. DS lost his in the waterpark the second day, so they gave us a new one (don't wear it in the park, eventhough it's waterproof because the snaps don't withstand the activity). They have games and checkers that can be checked out at the front desk. There is also a scavenger hunt you can do to get a prize. The front desk will give you the form.
The gameroom was great! They have a lot games that you can win tickets on and the amount of tickets needed for good prizes are pretty reasonable. We spent about $20 in there and DS really loved it.
The shopping outlets are less than a mile away so we spent a couple of hours there on Saturday. There is no sales tax on clothing in PA, so combined with the Gap sales I did pretty good!
We also visited the American candle/candy shop that is located off route 611 (you can see it off I-80, it looks like a red barn). I definately recommend stopping there on the way home. They have tons of old fashioned candy, choclate and great smelling candles and knick knacks.
Overall we LOVED this place!! We are already planning to go back! I want to go for Turkey Day
