We were scheduled to stay at BWI for our entire stay, but we changed the nights at the last minute and were not able to book the extra night at BWI. So we decided to stay at GF the first night and BWI the next 3 nights. We’ve stayed at BWI but not GF. I had really wanted to try GF. This is the first time we have resort hopped. :Pinkbounc

I didn’t want to love GF because it’s the most expensive, but I did! The people were really nice at check-in. I didn’t realize they took you on a cart to your room. The man who took us to our room was very friendly. Our garden view room was 5127 in Sago Cay. It was on the first floor overlooking the marina, and we liked our view. We had gardenia bushes right in front of our balcony, and we love the smell of them. I really liked our room. DH thought the bed was comfortable. There was not a fridge in the room so we called and they quickly brought it. We watched Wishes that night, and it seemed so close. I love how you can hear what’s going on at Magic Kingdom during the day. I don’t know if the pool was heated or not, but it was a perfect temperature. We enjoyed listening to the band in the lobby in the evening. The grounds and the buildings are pretty. We’ve now stayed at all the moderates and deluxes except BC, and although GF is not cheap, we thought we got our money’s worth there because of the staff. We also felt very comfortable here. One thing I noticed about buying beer: DH bought a Heineken at the food court for $4.25, and the same can was in the store downstairs in the lobby for $2.25. Not sure if this also applies to drinks like water and soda because we brought bottled water, but I thought this might be of interest.

Then we switched to BWI. We stayed here for the first time last year, and it has been my favorite resort until we stayed at GF. The CM who checked us in was not very friendly, and the last time we stayed here, the CM at check-in was not friendly then either. We booked a garden view, and I requested a view of Epcot. The CM told us she gave us a view of Epcot, but when we got there, it was on the first floor overlooking the quiet pool, and we couldn’t see Epcot. While it was a nice room, we don’t like overlooking pools because we don’t want to hear the noise. So we asked to be transferred. One of the bellhops ended up taking care of this for us and we really appreciated it. He was really nice. Every bellhop we dealt with on this trip at GF and BWI was wonderful and went out of their way to help. We were in room 3304. Although this wouldn’t cause me not to stay here again, I wasn’t thrilled with mousekeeping. Our room had used soap by the sink and used soap and shampoo in the shower. On the positive side, I like the room décor, and we had a view of the Eiffel Tower and the big hand on the ball in Epcot. Epcot is our favorite park, and I love just walking to Epcot from the resort. We were there for the Disney Doll and Teddy Bear convention that took place in Epcot so staying here was especially great. The room was quiet, which was nice. We love having the Boardwalk right outside the door. We used both the quiet pool and the clown pool. The clown pool was crowded everytime we used it, but the quiet pool was quiet. The quiet pool was chilly on the day when the weather was cooler, but other people went in. Overall, I stay love this resort, but I wish they would get some friendlier people at the front desk.

Hope this helps. :)

I posted some pictures of our view from our BWI room.

Thank you for the report. The pictures of BWI that you posted have me very excited to stay there. I am hoping that I get a room overlooking a courtyard or a nice garden area. The view you had looks perfect.

Thanks for the review.

My husband and I love the GF. The CMs and service are the best. :) The CMs do make it worth the money. (and that is big for my husband to say it's "worth the cost" LOL)

We had major mousekeeping issues at the BWI during our stay. I wasn't overly thrilled by any friendliness there either. I did really like the decor of BWI but the service we recieved was subpar.

Thanks for sharing. Loved your review of GF. I feel the same way. Great pics of BWI. Thanks again.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at the GF, as I am staying there for the very first time in July......I must tell you that we also had some CM issues when we stayed at the BW in October. Nice place, with Epcot being my favorite park, it was awesome to be so close to it. However, I dont remember the staff being overly friendly, in fact I dont have ANY memory of the staff at all :confused3 , I feel that the CM's that work at the resorts can make or break your stays there and its so important for the guests to know that they are #1, and it could be as simple as saying "Good Morning" with a smile, that would make me remember them, I don't need my *!# kissed.

Glad you had a good trip!

We stayed at the GF for 5 nights last year (our first time, too) and fell in love with it! Even my dh and then-12yo ds were won over (ds kept insisting it would be "too fancy" for him, LOL!). I know there have been reports of unfriendly CMs in the past, but every single one we encountered was friendly and helpful. And we loved that ride to the room in the cart, LOL! :thumbsup2

Sorry that the staff wasn't as welcoming at the BW ... maybe the front desk CM figured she was giving you an Epcot view 'cuz you could see the Eiffel Tower in the distance! ;)

Those are my 2 favorite resorts too! :)

GF has been my favorite but my mom and I took my kids down for Star Wars weekend to celebrate my oldest's birthday and graduation from kindergarten. We stayed at BWI and all really loved it. The kids thought the Luna Park slide was fabulous (specifically the slide :sunny: ). They loved the activities the lifeguards did for the kids at the pool in the afternoons too. Service and convenience were a big part of why the GF has been our family's favorite resort. My DH is a big penny pincher so for him to say GF was "well worth it" was really saying something. Last December we did a split stay between a garden view room at the GF to AKL CL. We had really built up the seeing all the animals thing for the kids but they even preferred the GF. One afternoon they stood on the balcony looking at giraffes and zebras below and said "when can we go back to the GF?" I will say this about BWI...we stayed Concierge there and while we met a handful of less than enthusiastic CMs in the nonconcierge area, the concierge CMs were FABULOUS! SO friendly and incredibly helpful. We really felt like they went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. My mother got sick on the trip and they were incredibly helpful in changing plans around and getting meds she needed for us etc. We made a lot of changes as I am 5 months pregnant and when she got sick I needed to change so plans to make it easier on me to take 4 and 5 year old boys out on my own. Jackie in the CL was so helpful with that. :)

We stayed at the GF Sugar Loaf building for 7 nights, and I just loved it! But that theming is right up my alley. My DH liked the Polynesian alot more, but the tropical theming is right up his alley. I would love to stay at the BWI one day.....
So glad you had a great time!! It is nice to see positive reviews of the GF. :teeth:

We got to stay at the GF in Dec 2002, and it was absolutely gorgeous with all the decorations! The CMs were SO nice!!

We're staying at the Boardwalk for the first time in a few days, my DD has been wanting to try that "clown" slide! Hope everything is great for us - I had to talk DH into staying at BWI; he wanted WL again! (We do LOVE WL, but just wanted to try something different) Oh well....

Glad you had a good trip though!

Glad you enjoyed the reviews. I'm also glad some of you felt the same way about GF and BWI (for BWI, the not so friendly CMs). It's good to know that those in the BWI concierge are nice. :)

glass slipper girl, you have great taste in resorts! :rotfl2:

Thank you for the reviews. I don't remember the BWI CM's either- all I can figure is that they must have been businesslike and pleasant enough. I've never stayed at GF, but the comments in this thread make me think I'd like to.
