Just Back from Fort Wilderness Cabins!!

The cabins have replaced all the homes.

The laundry facilities are at the pools. I have always done my laundry at the "smaller" pool & have never had a problem getting a machine & we are always there during a peak time. There are also laundry facilities near the loops that people have their own units in.

I'm still bummed about the 2nd TV being gone!!!

I had asked about walking from the cabins to the marina. So, if you rent a golf cart, can you park it near the marina and leave it for a few hours? How does that work? And how much are they to rent? Thanks-maybe I can find that info on the Camping in WDW forum, I'll look, but feel free to answer, thanks!

And MELSMICE, thanks for answering my question about the cabins replacing the homes, I wondered about that.

I think the golf carts are $45 a day. You can leave them at the marina. I always saw a lot of them parked. I guess you just take your key and go! They did look like a lot of fun.

That's what we thought, also! The buses don't look too bad when you think about that! Oh, maybe if you wanted to spend the day at the resort, it would be fun, but you can almost get into a park for that kind of money!

We just returned on June 16 from the cabins and we loved them. It was nice and relaxing and you don't hear anything from the other cabins. We rented the golf cart for the week (I wanted to do it for a few days but my husband wanted for the week so... ) The inside buses seemed fine -- we used them a couple of times and outside buses were good except for the day we went to TL, it took us close to an hour to get there. The golf carts could be parked at either the outpost, by the marina, or by the bus depot at the settlement area. There are electrical outlets to recharge the batteries if you are lucky enough to get one but it seemed that the golf cart would be able to hold a charge for a full day at the parks. One morning we had an early breakfast at MK and we just took an inside bus all the way to the ticket and transportation center and took the monorail from there to MK. We also had a dinner reservation at 7pm at the Contemporary and there was a boat from the marina to the Contemporaty. I'm not sure how late they run as we went to e-night afterwards and took the monarail to T&T and a bus back to FT. Wilderness as the boats did not run that late.

What's the price range for the cabins?

I've seen special rates "starting" at $129, although when I've checked out the regular Disney site they can be right up there with the deluxes at 200+ a night, but still a good deal compared to the DVC villa properties (especially when you consider a cabin sleeps 6 and has a living room, separate bedroom and full kitchen).

We just booked one last night for Labor day weekend at $139 using the CLS code. I didn't have the code in front of me the first time I called and was quoted $240!
