Just back from first stay at OKW

We got back this week from our first stay at OKW, and absolutely LOVED it!

We have been DVC members since 2001, and our homes are VB and BCV, but we thought our one bedroom at OKW was great. The service was great, the parking and buses convenient, and our 5 yr old daughter had a great time at the pool. The only downside was some folks from the Eastern States that were a bit rude (but we made some friends with some nice ones too) - it just seems that most midwesterners have a different set of attitudes as a whole.

We were a little bit apprehensive at first about OKW, but if we can make a Res, it will be in our plans for our next stay. For those of you who are owners there, you have a beautiful home, and we were lucky to get to spend some time there.

Would that be Northeastern or Southeastern? I guess I won't share my experiences from my December trip to Ohio!

Just kidding with ya, Jhalkias. Glad you had a nice trip. I'm actually a mid-westerner too (they call us Yankees down here!). Fortunately, I've acclimated to my current surroundings pretty well. Even my very southern MIL seems to like me!

DW and I are BWV owners but we love OKW for a nice relaxing vacation. I recently changed a 1BR BW view reservation at BWV over to a OKW 1BR, that's how much we like it!

Thanks for posting a positive report! We have been owners at VWL since 2001 and decided this year to invite family and s-p-r-e-a-d out in a big 2 bedroom at OKW! We are looking forward to a big patio/balcony too! I think those little ones at the new resorts are fairly useless for more than 2 people.

I did want to post a positive experience . . . all too often I see so many negative experiences here that it just gets to be discouraging. Sometimes I think maybe I don't get so upset as some people.

I hope I didn't offend any East Coasters - and I was talking about North East Coasters. I actually had a very pleasant time with some folks from New Jersey - but there were some people who were just plain rude!

There were a couple of empty chairs one day at the pool, and as my 5yr old daughter and I were walking around looking for a place to put our stuff, I asked a lady sitting next to them if they were taken. Before she could even respond, a lady brushed past us with some towells and said in a loud booming voice "They sure are taken!". As we walked away, I could hear her saying to the other lady "How about that - everyone wants my chairs!" Add to that all the yelling and screaming accross the pool and at kids - ugh! If you ask how I know where they were from, those Jersey/NY accents are unmistakeable!

I know we have our share here in OH too of bad attitudes - maybe they just aren't quite as loud or impatient when demonstrating their rudeness!

Sorry to spend that much time on the negative aspect - just wanted to explain myself.

We do also love VWL, and BCV, but there was something magical about sitting on that third floor huge patio, and hearing the peaceful thwack and ping on a golf ball in the early morning (and I am NOT a golfer).

BTW - we had absolutely NO negative experiences with Cast Members ANYWHERE. It was really nice to spend some time at WDW, and have people be kind and respectful to you as the customer. Whenever we got it - and we got it a lot, I tried to give that respect and kindness back to them in the same way. Those people deserve to know that we appreciate their attitude on our vacation!
