Hello everyone,

We just got back from a 4 nt. NYC Canadian cruise on the Disney Magic. This was a DVC Member Cruise, which stopped in Halifax.

Would be happy to answer any questions.

We live in NJ and travelled via rail on the NJ Transit NE Corridor Line and took a cab to and from the Port.

We were on the cruise before you (the WBTA cruise). How was your entertainment? I heard you would only be seeing two of the main stage shows instead of three because DVC was bringing on special entertainment.

How was the earth day movie? Really great you were able to see this movie over 6 months in advance.

Yes, since this was a DVC Member Cruise, they performed only 2 of the Main Stage shows in the Walt Disney Theatre (listed in the cruise highlights section of the Day 1 Navigator):
Tangled the Musical and Twice Charmed

Entertainment was beyond incredible. We had an amazing lineup of talent, special guests and events on this cruise.
This was our third Member Cruise, and by far one of the best we've been fortunate to have been a part of.

Yes Clayton is the best cruise director that DCL has. He does an amazing job.

How was the earth day movie? Really great you were able to see this movie over 6 months in advance.

It was so great to be given the rare and unprecedented opportunity to have the Co. screen a full length film Disneynature Born in China - 6 months in advance of it's scheduled release date to the general public on Earth Day 2017.

Disneynature put forth such dedication and commitment to the level of care, effort and detail in presenting the beauty of China's culture, environment and natural habitat. The cinematography is breathtaking and the film is outstanding. We felt like we were there, watching these animals native to China as have never been seen before.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND This film!! A must see in the theatre on the big screen.

What were the in-room DVC goodies?
Any issues embarkation or debarkation that others traveling from the port might need to be aware of?

What were the in-room DVC goodies?

First, here are some pics of the many incredible gifts we received! I thought the Alaskan Member Cruise had the most amazing gifts, but DVC really went above and beyond to celebrate their 25th Anniversary.

check it out!

Any issues embarkation or debarkation that others traveling from the port might need to be aware of?

Where to begin............

I guess to start, you can take note of these posted signs:

IMG_0016_zpsvr1hoqy1.jpg

General arrival and parking -We arrived by cab around 9am.

DSC03685_zpsrf4mlz9d.jpg

There was a bag drop off right at the entrance.

IMG_0004_zpsioci1asq.jpg

The porters were waiting there to collect our tagged luggage.

IMG_0007_zpsowsq5lgi.jpg

The terminal was open, but que lines for security remained closed until 10:30am.

DSC03696_zpsjldqqwsw.jpg

DSC03715_zpsw4f0fltx.jpg

The layout is very different and entails a lot more walking at this Port. First you pass thru security (white desks) and bag screening/metal detectors behind them

DSC03714_zpsikvn9ooz.jpg

you will then walk practically half the length of the terminal

DSC03769_zpsxyellydt.jpg

to here

DSC03770_zpstpfzycrc.jpg

where a mini breakfast stand was open.

DSC03771_zpsxaclkto8.jpg

Keep walking to the check-in area.

DSC03772_zpsve5is1pq.jpg

DSC03774_zpsxe4i34jo.jpg

DSC03777_zpsripjfvjw.jpg

then you get to walk more than halfway back to board the ship.

IMG_0017_zpsqpnjrbgu.jpg

If you plan to drive and park at the port you need to figure out a few things in advance:
1. which Pier the Magic is docked at when you arrive and
2. whether the Magic will be docking at the same Pier when you return.

this is important as there are open parking lots on Level 3 for each pier and in our case, the ship used 2 different locations.

When we arrived on Wed. the Magic was docked at Pier 88.

DSC03913_zpsynpsvg2x.jpg

This has the most improved port facilities and is the designated pier for NCL.

The parking entrance was manned with attendants but remained coned off until 9:45. They appeared to be letting vehicles thru though.
DSC03726_zpswodogiqa.jpg

DSC03851_zpsnih3atgx.jpg

this was a very full parking lot on a Wed morning. I counted roughly 50 open spaces with no prospects of anything freeing up for our cruise, since the Magic was arriving from a WBTA and there were no other ships in port that day.

DSC03746_zps8lerxali.jpg

It looked like once the lot was full, they were allowing cars to park between the two piers on Level 3

DSC03723_zpshuehnsm9.jpg

You can see them all lined up, parked on both sides in this shot.

DSC03861_zpsqoxts3bd.jpg

When we returned on Sun., the Norwegian Breakaway was using Pier 88.

DSC05107_zpsjoanpad5.jpg

and the Magic docked at Pier 90.

DSC03912_zpsemgjyp96.jpg

Which means, if you had parked your vehicle at this pier (88) when you first arrived:

DSC05001_zpstinkba5c.jpg

You now had to walk - trucking your bags - all the way back over to that pier from here (90).

DSC05035_zps8xxkpl7y.jpg

Hopefully, this was an isolated issue unique only to our sail and they will be using the same Terminal for the remaining NYC cruises.

You are a wealth of information!
that made me laugh! Thank you. What a nice compliment coming from such a wonderful person.
As you can see we had a lot of time to kill at the port that morning. Too funny!

but seriously, I'd love it if you'd share your experience taking the DCL transfers to/from the Manhattan terminal.

Clayton was on the Wonder 2 summers ago. He did a great job! Hope he's still on the Magic in January.

How are we talking about Clayton without saying "Who's on vacation???"

About what time did you pass the Statue of Liberty on departure? I am trying to learn if we will see it if we have early dining
