Hi Christie, first we were in the North Wing and we were VERY close to the Towers (second room in on the first floor) however, this was very very noisy, plus it was a handicap room (the bathroom didn't have a seperate area and my four year olds had a hard time reaching the toilet and the sink, and the metal bars in the bathtub were a hazard for little children). They did move us to a smoking room in the South Wing, but he did mention that there was another room in the South Wing that would be available in a few hours that was non smoking, but we just took the first one available (room 5360) because it was closer it was in the first part of the wing on the third floor, not really that far of a walk at all. Yes you could smell smoke very faintly when you first walked in, but we just aired it out and it was fine. We are not smokers and smoke does bother me, so if it was really bad I would have noticed. I would bring either a can of lysol or fabreeze with me and give the room a freshening up when you get there if you're worried about the smell. I personally liked the South Wing far better, now it could have been due to the room we were in at the North Wing, but it seems a lot quiter on the South Side of Town there, if you know what I mean, lol.
Anyway, the rooms were great, they are very large and roomy. They are very colorful and the bathrooms are great! So my suggestion is that if you are asking for either North or South close to the Tower, make sure you request on the 2nd or 3rd floor, 1st floor is just too noisy.
