Just returned from the CBR (10pm last night). It was our first time at on-site, and we would go back to this resort in a heartbeat. It really is beautifull. The walking is not as bad as people make out. I would be happy to answer any questions that any of you may have. Crowds this week are really heavy - guess people are taking the opportunity to have a Memorial day vacation at WDW. Saturday and Sunday wait times of over 60 minutes were common at all parks - MK, MGM, Epcot and dare I mention IOA and USF.

What a relief! When I saw the frown in your subject line I thought you'd had a bad a experience at CBR; I'm so glad you didn't. We loved this resort last year and we'll be there again in less than a week. Can't wait!:hyper:

Same here, LOL! We'll be staying a couple of nights at CBR this fall.

Welcome back, and glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! :sunny:

Thanks for taking the time to share. We will be staying at the CBR in 23 days (YEAH!!! Sorry:rolleyes: !! I'm just sooo excited, and I really need this vacation!!). I do have a few questions. What village did you stay in at CBR? How was the food at the food court? How was the bus service? Were the pools crowded?

Sorry for all questions, but I have heard such conflicting reviews of the CBR. It will be our first stay there. We love to try new places and your report makes me feel much better about our decision to stay at CBR!!

EmmasGrammy - do not even worry about it - you will LOVE it! DH and I love it (as you can see) and every time, we make reservations at any other resort, we always end up back at CBR.

The last time we stayed in the village of Jamaica - we found, through research on these boards, that this area's bus stop has the first p/u and the last d/o to the parks and boy, were the DISers right! I would say about 85% of the time, the bus was not crowded to get on and we were first to get off at the resort. We stayed in bldg. 45 and have requested that same area for our upcoming trip. The pool which is two blgs. down is nice and quite and they have a playground area right across from the pool (we don't have kids yet but it would come in handy if we did). And it is a beautiful less than 5 minute walk to Old Port Royale and the main pool.

We are going this Sept. so I doubt it will be that crowded but last May, I thought it was extremely busy but not so much that we couldn't have a good time. Overall, the transportation wasn't as great as years past - we definitely waited much mroe than 10 minutes for a bus. One time, we waited for a bus at MGM for over an hour and actually had the Transportation Director come over so we could moan and complain; we put in our two cents but they only thing that they could give, understandably, was an apology. Hope this info helps and rest assured that you will love the resort:)

Hi EmmasGrammy,

In answer to your questions :-

The buses were fine. Getting to the parks was no problem. We only had one time after wishes at MK when we had to wait for a bus back to the resort - no surprise at all! Many other resorts had lines for their buses too.

We stayed in Jamaica (as we requested). It was quiet. A really nice walk across the lake to the food court. It takes about 7 minutes.

The pools were never crowded. The main pool was the busiest. It is not huge, and has the slide, which attracts people. But the beauty of CBR is that each island has its own pool, and they were never busy. Twice I had the Jamaica pool all to myself.

The food was very good (and not too expensive considering it is Disney), my opinion is that it was as good as most of the food served at the parks e.g. we ate at Prime Time in MGM on Sunday and while it was a fun place to eat, it was expensive and the quality was no better than back at the resort.

So, glad you had a great stay @ CBR. We think it is a great resort. Jamaica area is great.

canucktyke , could you also post your information in the CBR FAQ thread listed below? Glad to hear that you had a great time at CBR.

Welcome home! I too thought it was going to be an unfavorable review but thankfully it wasn't. We stayed at the CBR in March and absolutely loved it, even more than a few than the deluxe resorts! We may try to sneak back before our cruise next year. I'm glad you had a great stay!
