We stayed in a Cabin for the first time last week. We knew what to expect due to all the research we did on this board and we were basically happy but I don't think we would stay there again. We loved tooling around in the rented cart and our dd thought it was so great seeing all the decorated campsites and music and lights. It was a very lively resort in the evenings and the campfire with Chip and Dale was great. Just wish they would have stayed out longer. And one of the BEST meals we've ever eaten was our last night there at the Trails End. Great food and GREAT price!

The Cabin itself was a bit dark and although I love warm, cozy surroundings I did feel there wasn't enought light in the bedroom and bathroom areas. The Cabin wasn't very clean when we got there so I began to sweep and dust and wipe off hard surfaces with our Clorox wipes the first evening. My daughter lost her slipper one day there and while looking for it I found drink bottles under the beds which was nasty. And there isn't a lot of storage for clothes and suitcases. We put our dd's stuff in the drawers in the bedroom and we "lived" out of our suitcases the entire week.

The kitchen was wonderful to have and made breakfast and snack time a breeze. Loved having our own deck. We were in the 2500 loop which was very close to check-in but very far from the marina and campfire.

All in all...it was a neat experience and we're glad we tried it. But....CR and Poly....that's where our heart remains!

We just got back from our first trip to the cabins, too - we were in the 2800 loop and found everything to be shockingly clean. I was floored - I expected a little dust and obvious "use" because of the nature of a cabin, and it was like brand new - even the linens were pristine and perfect.

I guess there are older cabins and newer ones, maybe? Our mousekeeping was amazing - leaving towel animals/things every day - the last one was a HUGE 8 towel/washcloth elephant! :)

I had read on here that the rooms were dark, so when I got there I decided to play with the lighting a bit. If you turn the two sconces on over the bed, the light over the vanity on, and the overhead light there is quite a bit of light in the bedroom. We did the same in the living room area - the lights over the little phone/storage alcoves, the dining lantern, and the kitchen lights and it was very bright. (Just a tip, if you're considering ever going back).

As for clothing storage, I agree - it leaves something to be desired particularly for our family of 7.

We unpacked and hung up everything we could (I considered buying some tube hangers from target, but decided to make do with the dozen or so that were in the cabin). We put all of our dirty clothes immediately back into the suitcase and stored those up on top of the hanging area. The drawers were for shirts only - and we managed to put every shirt we needed for all the kids in there (for 7 days worth) mainly because we recycled shorts and jeans but wore a new shirt every day.

We slid the nightstand by the window over by the vanity and laid a small suitcase on top of that. From there we could access our pajamas, underwear, and socks.

On the suitcase rack in the hanging area, we laid our biggest suitcase and folded up jeans, capris, and shorts in there.

Shoes were lined up under the hanging area. Towels and toiletries in the bathroom.

We also could have stored additional clothing in the living room, on either side of the bed, if folded and put on shelves. There was also quite a bit of storage in the bathrooms (four cabinets, I think) if we'd wanted to divide our things up more. But, I was afraid I'd forget things like that. :)

All in all, I was highly impressed and felt that the parking pads right next to the cabins were enough of a perk for me to go there again. Nothing like trying to get in and out of a hotel with five sleeping/sleepy kids at the end of a busy park day!

Thank you for posting your reviews of the cabins. Myself, my kids (12,11) and my best friend ar staying in the cabins for the first time in June, so I am always looking for reviews and opinions.

Did either of you take any pictures of the cabins? I would love to see them!

We didn't have one of those :sad2: ! We were searching and searching for one and I know all I had to do was call the front desk and ask for one but we didn't even think to do that!

And yes...the parking pad was HEAVEN! It made coming and going and packing up and stuff so easy. Hubby loved that!

We're going back to WDW 2/28/07 - 3/4/07 and we're staying at POFQ 'cuz the rates are considered peak at those dates (even though we're bascially beating the spring break crowd :confused3 ) and we can't swing a Delux (even with AAA discount). Here's to hoping for a wonderful 1st time Moderate stay. I don't think we'll be disappointed. It's Disney after all!!

Oh what a bummer you didn't have one. It made it a smidge easier to deal with the small space. In comparison, we stayed at the Nick Hotel our last trip and it was MICROSCOPIC. I mean, I think we had four drawers for the whole two bedroom suite! Drove me *nuts*.

To answer the above question, I took lots of pictures of the cabin - mostly because I felt that the website that is often linked here must've been done in the 70s. ;)

on the left, walking out of the bedroom is the bathroom. Really big vanity - one of the biggest tubs I've ever had in a "hotel" (standard size tub with polyvinyl insert for the shower - again, meticulously clean). Note the towel "animals" peeking out of the hand towels. Excuse our stuff ;)

another bathroom shot to see more of the vanity - in the left corner there are two small shelves which held our toiletries travel bag and additional towels. Under the sink were extra rolls of toilet paper and a huge stack of clean towels. We found those on the third day by accident - oh, and the bathroom trash can was stuck under there.

Oh - and this was cabin 2857, I believe. Just FYI :)

It was only about four cabins down from the end of the loop, on the right - very close to a bus stop, but not so close that it was loud or anything (we never heard a single thing the entire time).

Things we were disappointed in:
you cannot drive to the main settlement post or the restaurant onsite - you HAVE to take the internal bus system, which we didn't feel comfortable doing with all the kids, no seatbelts, no carseats (just a little overprotective). So, we didn't get to see any of that. (But we did have a car and went to Target to get a few things - the handsoap you see in the bathroom, um - juice, organic milk, cereal, clementines, and bananas).

could have used an extra bathroom with all those people - but I don't know where on earth they could fit it in the cabin ;)

storage for clothing - I'd like to see another cabinet, maybe under the vanity area (which is TINY and hard to access because it's just at the foot of the bunk beds back in a corner) with drawers. :) Cabinets are nice, but drawers are more useful. Also, maybe drawers in the living room under the windows.

and the aforementioned door in the bedroom really needs a top latching chain on it like the main door - just for littles who are sleeping back there.

OH - one more tip - I don't think Disney is exactly crime-central, but we did find our windows unlocked when we arrived, and mousekeeping unlocked and opened another one during cleaning one day. While I appreciate that she may have wanted to let any chemical odors/fumes out, and never noticed anything offensive in the cabin of that nature, it was something I went through and checked every night. There were 8 or 9 windows in the cabin. :)

My only other complaint about the parks/trip was the bathrooms - most of the doors swing IN - toward the toilets. It drove us nuts the whole time. When you travel with small children, you often share a bathroom (particularly toddlers/preschoolers). I didn't always feel that I should occupy a disabled access stall, or there wasn't one available, and the doors on the bathrooms ALL swung "in" - so there was nowhere to stand to open and close the door. It would be simple to make that change, I'd think. Swing OUT, Disney - swing OUT! :)

Thanks for posting all of those pictures!

A lot of public restrooms have doors that go in, and it is very annoying!!

Those pics were just like the cabin we had loop 2200 cabin 2217 makes me miss it a whole lot!!! I hope I can get back there someday!!! I left some beer in the fridge if anyone wants it.. The cleaners made a dog with our towels it was so nice coming home to different towel displays every day...We also had a ride with someone on a golf cart. I'm posting this because maybe they are on this thread...We were standing at the bus stop by the meadow and they asked if we needed a lift and brought us to our cabin...that was the day before we left...I sooo wish we could go back. :yay: ..I'm back at work but so much not into it :badpc: !!

Thank you sooo much for posting those pictures! Those were by far the best ones I have seen on the web! Now I know I have made the right choice for my family :thumbsup2

We too just got back last night 12/13. We were in the 2600 loop and had the Candy Cane golf cart! Some of you may have seen us! We had a great time! It was our 3rd time at the cabins & love it there! We will be returning in July and maybe April. The cabin was very clean as usual! :cheer2:
