Kickapoo Joie Juice, I believe check-in at the Disney hotels is 3:00 and DVC is "supposed" to be 4:00 which now has been changed to "after 4:00". I can't seem to find out if there's a set "in by" time. Meaning, at what time is check-in after 4:00 not acceptable (to Disney, not me)?
We checked in here at the Boardwalk on Sunday at about noon and to my delight, OUR ROOM WAS READY! Everything is clean and in good working order and the location is perfect!
So, I am 2 for 2 this fall with a room ready at check in at SSV in Sept and BWV this week!
Our friends also checked in on Sunday and their room was ready shortly before 4PM. It is 2 doors down from ours, and met their requests so no complaints from them either
I heard from the DVC SAT team yesterday via a phone call. DVC reviewed this case and agreed that the checkin time was not acceptable. They returned my first days points to my account which I appreciated. I had a nice discussion with the representative and told her what I am really looking for out of this escalation is to make a difference for checkins in the future. She said that was her focus and discussed my situation for a bit. I let her know that there were others affected as well at the Boardwalk and she said BWV was a main focus of DVC's investigation. I am still not clear if the problem is not enough staff for housekeeping or people staying beyond checkout but that is where the investigation is focused. I got the impression that DVC knows there is a more frequent problem at BWV's. Overall, I am happy that most who replied said to escalated this. I encourage anyone who has a problem let DVC know. If we don't escalate our concerns, there is no way that DVC will know to address them.
Thanks for the update, Talkingwoody. The fact that DVC acknowledges that this is a problem is a positive sign for potential future improvements. I'm encouraged by the fact that they didn't simply say "check-in is after 4:00" and just let it go at that.
While I agree, you would expect Disney -- who measures everything -- to know this already and to act on it without our reminding them that it is sub-standard service. My concern is that they may take the view now that as long as only a few complain it is ok.
That is true, but since we book months in advannce, DVC knows who is checking in or out on any given day. That makes it possible to schedule housekeeping staff appropriately.
and wouldn't you think, with the advent of DME, that they also have a better handle on who is LEAVING when?? Surely that data might be helpful in scheduling.
Perhaps they need to have fewer mousekeepers calling rooms and knocking on doors at 7am on checkout days and schedule them for LATER in the day???
sorry, but common sense must be getting the better of me.
OP, please do send some follow-up to DVC. Perhaps also mention that your brother and sister who are prospective buyers were rather disappointed in the service that they experienced as your guests and they aren't sure they want to be in a club that treats its members that way.
