Just got back last night from 5 days at BWV and 2 days at WL (lodge, not villas). We had a 2 BR for me, DH, and DSs 14 & 16. All in all, it was a great trip! Here are a few highlights (and a few nit-picky observations as well!).

We arrived on Sunday(2/19) at about 5 pm. We had booked a preferred room since all standard views were taken by the time I made my reservation. BW views were gone as well, so I wasn't sure what I would end up with. As we were checking in, I asked if we could please not be put by the main pool, thinking it would be too noisy. The CM said our room was already assigned, and it was indeed a pool view room on the ground floor. I usually request top floor, but didn't this time. We didn't say anything else to the CM, since it was my own fault for not making any requests. So, DH and I just kind of grumbled to ourselves on our way to our room. Boy did I feel stupid for griping because this turned out to be my favorite room I've had yet at the BWV!

I can't say enough good things about the room! There was enough distance from our room and the pool that noise was never even the slightest problem. There were shrubs in from of our patio that gave us a cozy sense of privacy. We could keep an eye on the pool in the morning, and know exactly when to head out to get a good spot. We always got chairs close to our room which was so convenient. Our room was the closest room to an outside exit, so we just walked out, turned right, and we were on our way to the pool. No long hallways or waiting for an elevator. It was perfect! Here are pictures of our view:

The only problem with this room was the trash in the bushes. There was a beer can, beer bottle, cigarette box, and few other little things in the bushes on our day of arrival. DH was going to call and have them clean it up for us, but I wanted to wait it out to see how long it take for them to do it themselves. They never did. It's disappointing that Disney does not seem to take care of the grounds like they used to (I noticed this in the parks as well). I find it equally, if not more, disappointing that guests treat the resort with such disrespect. How sad.

A couple of other things I noticed - when we first got to our room, only the studio side room keys worked. We could not get into the 1 BR side. When we called, they said we needed to come down and pick up a new set - they were too busy to bring the new keys to us. Also, when I went to charge a purchase at Downtown Disney to our room, it rejected my card as well as DH's. The only card that worked was my 16 year old's! Of course, he thought it was pretty funny that we were both rejected and he had to sign for our purchase.

The only other thing that was kind of annoying was we experienced more "technical difficulties" than we ever had. We finally reached the front of the line at "Dinosaur" only to have the ride shut down. Everyone was sent on their way. Minor technical dfficulties occurred while we were riding Buzz Lightyear and Small World. Buzz was shut down on another day due to technical difficulties. Finally, we were stuck on the monorail one afternoon. It didn't move at all for about 20 minutes, then it sputtered along until we had to get off at TTC and took the ferry to MK.

I only mention these issues because I think it is important to tell the good along with the not so good. We had an awesome trip, and none of these things interferred with our fun at all.

Back to the good things! Expedition Everest was fantastic, and may be my new favorite coaster! We went to the Adventurer's Club for the first time and had a blast! Liberty Tree Tavern was a great character dinner, and breakfast at Whispering Canyon was a lot of fun. We spent more time lounging around the pool and just hanging out than we did at the parks. The weather was great for most of the week and we really did a lot of relaxing in the sun.

When we moved to WL, I realized how much we have been spoiled by DVC. We were quite cramped after spending the previous five days in a 2 BR! While the lodge is absolutely beautiful, we had a standard room with the most aweful view we have ever had. I'm not kidding, take a peek:

The only good thing to this room location was we could see the fireworks at night. It would have been better if we stayed at WL at the start of our trip, and ended at BWV.

That's it for now. I have suitcases to unpack and a ton of work to do! It was such a nice trip, I miss it already!

nice trip report! we're headed to BWV this Thanksgiving - our first trip to our home resort.....now i have some things to keep my eye open for!

great pics, btw..... :thumbsup2

Great report!! Thanks for the wonderful pool pictures. We leave for BWV in 18 days (but who's counting), I can't wait!!

Nice trip report, and I'm glad you had a nice time on vacation! :woohoo:

But, I agree that isn't the best view at the WL. I think I'd rather get the dreaded dumpster view...hmmmmmmm, I'll have to think about that one. :scratchin

Actually, the dumpsters were to the left... :teeth:

Honestly, it didn't bother us too much. At WL, we really did spend very little time in our room. Now if I had to spend an entire week in that room, I would have been bummed! Unless, of course, I had a two year old that was really into trucks, then it would have been a fantastic view! Plus, there is nothing like waking up to the beeping sound of backing up trucks at 6:30 in the morning!

Here are more shots of the fabulous BWV :thumbsup2 :

And finally, a shot of the castle during Wishes :wizard: :

I have to admit, when I scrolled down and saw the view at WL, a "yikes!" escaped from my mouth. Definitely not a great view.

I loved the rest of your report! We leave for BWV in 8 days and it really got me excited!

Thanks for the nice report and photos. We will be at BWV in May! :cool1:

How was the move from a 2bdr to WL? Did you move yourself or have your luggage transported by Bell Services? Did you wish you could just stay in the 2 bdr the whole time? I know points are high, but did you still want to stay or was 5 days enough?

Just trying to decide what we may do in the future. We normally stay 12 nights and I really want to move up to the 2 bdr, but I think we would get so comfortable we would not want to move.

Thanks so much for the pictures! It makes me sad (in a happy way--weird, I know) when I see the pool pictures. It reminds me of my trip earlier this month with my dd (2.5). She LOVED the kiddie pool and playground.

Thanks again for sharing!

LIFERBABE-
We had Disney move our luggage for us and it was pretty easy. We had everything packed up by 9:00 at BWV, then called to Bell services. They picked it up within 20 minutes. We walked to MGM, then caught a bus to WL. Our room was ready when we checked in some time after 10:00 (probably because no one else would stay in it!). We went to MK, then returned to WL around 3:00. Our luggage had arrived, but you do have to call down for it. They won't take it to your room if you're not in it.

Personally, I would have rather just stayed in the 2 BR for the week, but we were out of points due to borrowing. We have stayed at the BWV for a full week before, and have never gotten bored there. Maybe it would have been different if we were going from a 2 BR to another 2BR, but to go from a 2BR to a standard hotel room was a little tough.

Thanks for the trip report (I have an irrational love of trip reports) and, especially, the photos. I'm glad the few glitches you experienced were not severe enough to negatively affect your trip.

Wow, that WL view is pretty weak. I actually cant believe they wouldn't abstruct it somehow (at least the lower part) like they do when remodeling or some flower boxes or something (some imagination huh?). :smickey:

That's exactly what I kept thinking. It is hard to believe that a resort would have that view available to anyone. It seems like they could have easily masked that in a way that matches the theming of the resort. How 'bout a little "fort" around it? Some trees maybe? I don't know but, geez, you would think if someone was clever enough to design that magnificent lodge, they could have come up with something a little more creative than what they have!

I got that view at christmas. What burned me was she said "It is a long walk but the view is worth it". (and I replied great cuz we are balcony people)So that made the view seem even worse. I don't know if she was trying to pacify us (so if we did complain it would be to someone else)or just didn't know. She said she had worked at WL for quite a few years. No comment would have been better than that. I had something like that happen at AKL. She gave us the less desirable savanah view and said "this is my personal favorite". We kept it but felt like we had been manipulated.

Oh well, like you it didn't get us down. Loved the reprot and glad you had a great time!

WE are doing the opposite -- WL then BWV. What were your room numbers? Thanks.

At BWV, we were in rooms 1018(studio side) and 1020(one bedroom side). At the WL, we were in room 5060.

We definately get spoiled by the 1 and 2 br. We recently moved from a 2 BR to a Studio. That was difficult-DH missed the second bathroom! I missed the space. No place to hide! DD liked jumping from bed to bed in OKW studio. Good thing we spent alot of time OUT of the room!

:thumbsup2
BWV!
Great view of pool!!!
We were there same week...had the LAST room on the 2nd floor
by the quiet pool...ouch!!! This is what you get for waiting!
So, believe me when I tell you...YOU had a great location and view
of the pool.
