We are just back from WDW – stayed at the Beach Club from Sunday, October 1 through Thursday, October 6. This was our first trip to Disney, so I can’t compare it to other resorts (except Animal Kingdom, as we ate at Boma’s one night – AKL is, in one word, DARK!). My full trip and dining reviews are on the other boards, but thought I'd post here about the Beach Club. All I can say is that...

WE LOVED THE BEACH CLUB!!!!

I was with my 73-year-old father (I’m a 31-year-old female), and we had booked a standard room. However, upon check-in, we were UPGRADED to Concierge floor!! Our room was non-smoking, had two queen beds, desk (with easy access outlets installed - great for recharging the digital camera), full balcony (2 chairs and small table) with Epcot right outside our window (no need to go to Illuminations - it was right outside the balcony every night!), the standard bathroom set up (towel animal when we arrived, two sinks with LOTS of shelf storage above and beneath), robes in the closet, a 4-drawer dresser, and a TV hutch that also held the fridge.

The beds were extremely comfortable!! I usually hate hotel beds and can never sleep, but it wasn't a problem at the Beach Club! Each bed had 3 large pillows, plus there was an extra blanket in the closet (along with ironing board and iron).

I can't imagine paying over $150 a night extra to stay Concierge, but it was sure nice FREE!! They had a basic continental breakfast in the mornings (3 cereals, croissants, bagels, fruits, Krispy Kreme donuts, coffee, juices, skim and whole milks, teas) and snacks throughout the day (we were hardly there for these or just seemed to be coming/going between offerings - we stopped a couple of times for a pop and once got some nuts, cookies and cheese popcorn bags).

A USA Today was outside the door every morning. The night before check-out, our Magical Express information was slid under the door. We also did the Express Check-out (just had to give them CC info at Check-in), so our final bill was under the door an hour before we left (our only charge was $3 for the inner tube at the pool!!).

On our first day there, within a few minutes of entering the room, a housekeeper knocked on the door and asked about turn-down service. I assumed she meant right then and there...so I said no. We didn't get it until the last night (2 chocolate mints each)...but then again we napped every afternoon and then went out to eat...they may have thought it was already "turned down" when they checked.

Stormalong pool is AWESOME!!! I didn't do the slide, just bobbed along for an hour or so. My feet were killing me from the parks (I only wore flip-flops - stupid me!), so the sand at the bottom of the pool kind of hurt. However, it only seemed to be in the 3 foot part, not in the 4-5 foot area. We rented an inner tube for an hour, but it was too big to simply hang on to and float around with. I did go around the lazy river once with it - nice! The best thing is that the pool is so big it's easy to find your own "spot" - no bumping into other people.

The Marketplace was wonderful - we shopped here a few times for some drinks, gelletto, and souveniers. We ate breakfast at Cape May one morning - very convenient. Access to the Boardwalk restaurants was so nice.

Transportation was quick - buses were fast to arrive, as were the boats. Took about 5 minutes to reach the Boardwalk area.

I'll be glad to answer any questions!!

I've been reading about lots of upgrades lately. That's awesome. I'm glad you and your dad got to experience it! :)

From what we gathered, they had more requests for Standard Rooms and empty Conceierge Rooms....so those that were booked early (such as us) were upgraded.

What was your room #?

Thanks for the great review--we are thinking of booking concierge for our vow renewal next year!

Now that was a little unexpected magic! How fun to get such a surprise! Sounds like you and your Dad had a great trip. Good for you!

We were in 5712 - when you look down from the balcony, you have a lovely view of the roof! However, the Epcot "ball" was in plain view...and Illuminations was so close, we could even hear the music!! The room was very far down from the lounge...a room in the 5600's would get you closer, while an odd numbered room would get you a water view.

Lucky you, glad you had a great time. :flower:

I read somewhere about two months ago that they were adding something special to the lobby. Did you see anything new? TIA
