I just returned from a week long solo trip, and had a great time! I was at the Beach Club August 8-13, then moved over to the Dolphin August 13-16. I *loved* both resorts, and I'm looking forward to planning another trip to both resorts. Here's my take on both resorts:

Beach Club: I booked a standard room, and requested a room on the Crescent Lake side of the resort (I was trying to avoid a parking lot view). When I checked in at 10:30AM, I knew that my room most likely wouldn't be ready. I was very happy when the CM at the front desk said that my assigned room wasn't ready, but that she'd search for one that is ready. After a few minutes typing at her computer, she handed me the keys to room 3552, pointed me in the direction of the elevators, and off I went. I took the elevators up to the third floor, and started walking, and walking, and walking some more. Man, was that room a trek from the lobby! That's the only disadvantage to the room. The room itself was spotless, and was in a perfect location. I was about 10 rooms from the end of the hall, so all I had to do was walk to the end of the hall, down the steps, and the side enterance to the BC was right there. I was (literally) a 3 minute walk to the International Gateway. I would gladly take a room far away from the lobby to be close to the IG again. Great room location! :) Plus, I was right above the quiet pool (I was on the opposite side of the hallway, facing the BCV), but I was right down and out to the quiet pool and laundry facilities. Unfortunately, I can't comment on either the quiet pool or SAB as I never went swimming while there (ladies, you can understand why). Overall, this resort was phenomenal, and I can't wait to stay there again.

Dolphin: I have stayed here many times previously, and I knew that this resort is excellent. As always, the Dolphin did not disappoint. I booked the 3 nights on Starwood points, so I was expecting a parking lot view room. Imagine my surprise when I walked in to my room (7026), opened the curtains, and saw the Swan/Dolphin boat dock, Swan and Tower of Terror in the distance. Very nice! Although I didn't have a balcony (I love balconies), I had a great view. It was waaaay to hot to enjoy a balcony anyhow, so I was very content to my room location at the Dolphin. The service I received here was top notch; every CM I encountered went out of their way to make sure I was having a great stay. Although the Dolphin does have more of a convention feel than Disney resorts, the service, location and theming more than make up for it. I *love* this resort, and will definately be staying there again!

If you have any questions, please ask!

Welcome back!
Glad you had a great time. We had room on the bottom floor at that end of the BC on one trip. You are right, it is SO easy to get to the IG!

Thanks for the report!

Johnsonet, you're right, the Beach Club does seem to lack theming. After staying at the Poly and AKL, the Beach Club can't hold a candle in the theming department. But, the proximity to IG more than makes up for the lack of theming. I actually think my room was closer to IG than it was to the lobby, but I didn't care - this was my preference anyhow, so I was as happy as could be! :)

Thank you for your report :sunny:. It is a great idea to do a split stay and save a little money. What is nice the two resorts are close by each other. I might consider doing the same thing. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I don't know if I can afford to stay at the YC or BC for my entire stay. I'm glad you were happy with both resorts. :)

sounds like you had a fantastic time! :cool1: The BC is a beautiful resort and the pool is amazing!

Sounds like you had a great stay at two great resorts! Don't you just love being able to walk to two parks and a certain bar?

Karen

Karen, walking to/from two parks and a certain dueling pianos bar is the biggest attraction to these resorts. :) Especially me, who has a very low tolerance for alchol - two drinks, and the room is spinning.

Now that I've experienced 4 of the 6 Epcot Area Resorts (I'm yet to stay at the YC and BWV), I am officially spoiled - I can not stay anywhere else. The convenience and overall appeal is fantastic!

Glad to hear you had a great trip. I am familiar with the BC as we usually stay at the YC or BC when we go. Our favorite. The SAB pool is unbelievable. Cant beat it! Also love the GF. We are staying at the Dolphin for Easter 2006. Definitely afraid of the crowds since we usually go in September. SPOILED.

We requested a room with a balcony-EPCOT view. If that is not available when we get there are there any other views that you would recommend?

Any other info you can give me on this hotel would be greatly appreciated since it is going to be our first stay. Have to admit, feels strange knowing that we are not staying at a Disney Resort. Hope we are not dissapointed.

DH and I are going to WDW in a month for my 40th birthday. We have a nurses discount at the Swan for the 3 nights we are going. Then the code come out and now the BC is available for about $200.00 more. What would you do? Save the money and stay at the Swan or go for the BC? THX!
