Well, we arrived on Saturday & were assigned a garden view studio (room 325) that had a NICE view of Illuminations, it was actually an EXCELLENT view!! This was actually a handicapped unit, but did not have a roll in shower... there were NO counters anywhere & no closet either... the Armoire had a section that held hangers.. Other than a big lack of space, we LOVED the studio!! My kids are odd, they like the quiet pool over Stormalong!! Don't ask me why :bounce: :p :Pinkbounc

When we checked in, the CM worked really hard to find us a room with a nice view... we probably spent five minutes discussing the different options, she was GREAT & we got a nice Welcome Home!!

Anyways, I was speaking with a CM this morning that seemed to be in the know about all things Disney ;)

Anyways, he says Eisner will be voted OUT on Thursday, I tend to think he's right... but I'll be watching the news!

Also, he said that DVC actually fought hard to keep Stormalong Bay as a pool hopping option... ultimately Beach/Yacht Club management figured that with the Villa's, they will have 2800 occupants & the pool only accomodates 1400, the numbers don't add up... they'd discussed pool hopping in the off-season, but I guess it was managements decision that it would be too difficult to police it...

He also said that the Townhouses at the old DI will be torn down next month to make way for the new Saratoga Springs resort... There will also be an enormous pool complex, larger than Stormalong... This sounds pretty enticing! Oh, he said that the treehouse villa's will not be part of DVC & they will be marketed for honeymoon type accomodations...

I think there was other stuff, but this is all I can think of!! I thought it was a pretty interesting conversation!!

That's all I can think of at the moment, I'm happy to answer any questions!

Thanks for all the info. Seems like there's lot's to be thinking about and anticipating!

Great to hear info from the world...I can only hope to find a CM or 2 in the know when I'm there next month :)! Thanks again.

Beach/Yacht Club management's position makes sense. I think it was a good decision, especially if
...the new Saratoga Springs resort... There will also be an enormous pool complex, larger than Stormalong...
That will be great and provide a nice super pool option for DVC members, who would like a little more pool than thier home resort has to offer. This will go a very long way in relieving some of the concerns over the loss of SAB pool hopping IMHO.

Hopefully, the new pool complex will be a pool hopping one and a short walk from OKW for those who need a slide fix!
Thanks for the info Chris.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing the info!

thanks for the information - I like the Treehouse but I have yet to stay there so I were glad they are not being torn down with the DI.

Thanks for posting this interesting information.

Chris, thanks for passing along the info you discovered on your trip.

There was a rumor here awhile ago that they would build a SAB at OKW. This DI scenario makes a lot more sense.

Glad to hear you had a nice time.

Anyways, he says Eisner will be voted OUT on Thursday, I tend to think he's right... but I'll be watching the news!

Dang, I'm so sorry to hear that :(

Does this voting out of Eisner mean that it is a good time to buy Disney stock????? My DH says he will buy me stock when it goes down enough!

ROFL Skorpie!!! It IS down low... It's 15.04 per share, it's a rather horrifying number actually  It's time for him to go... I think they need some new blood :(

Chris - thanks for your post - a lot of good information. Can't wait to get more information about Saratoga Resort.

You've got my attention with a good pool in the making! Where will Saratoga Springs be located and what will the theme be? I apologize, but I have no idea what the Disney Institute is or where it is located.

As you go down that road, OKW is on your right, the next right is Treehouse Vills, the next right is Disney Institute.

Treehouse Villas are actually, kind of, part of Disney Institute.

I believe it's a walkable distance from OKW, but basically Disney Institute is located right across the river from Downtown Disney. The resort is going to be called Saratoga Springs Resort (based on Saratoga Springs in NY) & will also have a chautaqua style theming... Someone posted a link regarding this theming, but I have no idea what or where it was, but basically it's a small town village sort of feeling....

The CM went on further to say that no big time work had been started, because October starts the new fiscal year (or something like that) & the money to do the resort was in the budget of the next fiscal year... or something to this effect... I'm not sure how accurate that is though... but I'll be interested to see if the majority of the work starts next month... The CM also said that there was still hope even recently that the economy would improve & they could go back to renting DI out nightly, but that didn't pan out, furthering the possibility that DVC will continue on with the endeavor of turning it into a DVC property... That's another reason why the majority of the work has been held off... Really adding to the rumor mill, he said indeed Eagle Pines is shelved for the moment as they can't be building two massive resorts at one time... Saratoga Springs will be built in FIVE stages...

This last paragraph was really a great deal of conjecture that's why I didn't post it to begin with... but it was a very interesting conversation to say the least!

We just returned from the BWV Member's Update.

I attempted to pump the host for more information about the Saratoga Springs Resort, but was unable to get any more information than what Chris1gill has already reported.

The pool complex at the new resort will reportedly be on the scale of SAB and there are some architectural sketches available for those with proper access., but nothing official for the public at this time.

Thanks for the report, Chris!

Stay Tuned!
