Just back from BCV - my opinion (long)

We were at BCV in a lovely room with a very large balcony overlooking the new Dunes Cove Pool. We are members at OKW and I think that "paying guests" and DVC members "who don't yet have add-ons at BCV" may be getting these great views because a DVC representative did call us on our second day to ask what we thought about the new DVC resort, etc. Once a good portion of BCV is sold, I think that the regular first-come, first-served rule will apply, and those calling 11 months out will get their requests granted at check-in.

AdamK and Pinney can you please tell us the size of the balconey, how many chairs etc. Please compare to OKW or BWV if you can. Thanks Halle

Cash customers should get rooms after DVC members get their selection. And obviously DVC'ers want good views.
I agree with the disagree but why are there ANY rooms with a bad view? (Use bad views for service areas or add one floor and eliminate all bad views.)

Halle,

The balcony on our room at BVCs (378) was small. It was the width of the doorwall and long enough for 2 small chairs and that was all.

I have been in a 2 bedroom and studios at OKW and the balconies were MUCH bigger than the one we had at BCVs. Keep in mind that there are units at BCVs with bigger ones.

Adamak,

The room was very quiet. We didn't have any windows or doorwalls open during our stay because of the rain and heat. Being that far down the hall near the emergency exit was very quiet, and we rarely got any foot traffic down there.

Halle,
Sorry for the late reply. Our porch is small. 2 chairs and 2 "stools" only. It's about 6 ft by 3 ft, I think. To be honest, sitting in my porch will be kinda cramped, because there are scrubs right in front of the porch. So, I can see people not able to strentch their feet. I normally just stand outside and look at swimmers. I cannot remember the size of porch in BWV, but I think BCV's porch is definitely smaller than BWV's balcony. (But that's like comparing apple to oranges).

Colleen,
The 11 months is for reservations. My understanding is that the room request don't get considered until 3 days before your arrival. I normally fax/call the resort for my request 1 week prior to my arrival. And most of the time, it does not get honored in DVC resort. I've better luck with 'real' Disney resort. Probably just bad luck.

I understand their difficulties, and didn't think it was a big deal afterall.

Sparkspeak,
There are rooms wtih porch facing the inside garden, but they put a dense tall white fence all around it. So you're pratically looking out at a white wall. I can see them doing so to shield the noise. But they don't do the same thing for those facing parking lot or those facing SAB. It's just seems very strange to me. Maybe it's not a bad view.... but I would hate to pay the same amount of points for that room, compared to my pool view room.

We were in a studio, 316, and had a huge balcony - large pie shaped balcony, not a small rectangular one. We had two chairs and a small square table. Our balcony was the exception to the rule. Most were rectangular.

I don't see how any BCV room can have a SAB view. Those rooms are only BC or YC.

We requested a water view first and Epcot view second, and we got the water view. We always get our request at all our DVC stays. We just don't get that specific. At OKW we have requested Bldg 62, 63 or 64 for the last three stays and got them each time.
